VEITZENER KOLLEL  Foundations of Torah  5ONEG SHABBOSIMThroughout the year, the Kollel organizes invigoratingOneg Shabbosim in different neighborhoods (PetersonPark, West Rogers Park, and Lincolnwood) withenergizing ‫ רוח‬and varmkeit, lively singing, andinsightful drashas from local rabbanim. The spiritedevents draw overflowing crowds of devoted communitymembers and brings an elevated level of ‫ קדושה‬to‫שבת קודש‬. “Months later, people are still telling mehow Gevaldig the Oneg Shabbos was,” says Rabbi ElliLeibenstien. “It was Torahdik, uplifting, warm andsimply amazing. The way the yungeleit integrated with thecrowd, was very Geshmak.” IN-HOUSE SHIURIM Many community members host a variety of in-house shiurim before Yomim Tovim, most recently at the homes of chashuve ba’al habatim, Avromi Katzenstein, Naftali Brenner, Yanky Grunfeld and Moshe Siegal. “Shiurim like these really relate to us and are very Lemaaseh,” says Mr. Aron Stemple. “They are exactly what we need!” These powerful shiurim provide a wonderful opportunity for the community to prepare for Shabbos and Yom Tov and to build achdus.HIGHLIGHTS FROM COMMUNITY EVENTS

A DAY at the Kollel6  VEITZENER KOLLEL  FoundationsofTorah ropelled by a growth-oriented Rosh Kollel, handpicked Chavrai HaKollel, passionate learning sedorim, and minyanim throughout the week, the Kollel is a luminous source of inspiration for all. DAVENING Shacharis, Mincha, and Maariv, provide a heartening ‫ מקום תפילה‬for the community. “The Kol Tefilah and Hislaavus is beautiful,” says Rabbi Chaim Russell. “Every person should daven there at least once a week to gain nourishment and inspiration.” FIRST SEDER & SECOND SEDER The Kollel’s derech halimud brings out the best in each of the chashuve yungeleit. The Rosh Kollel ingrains a sincerity for learning, while emphasizing the importance of chazarah and internalizing what they learned. Our yungeleit learn gemarah with a focus on ‫ ;הלכה למעשה‬the current five-year program centers around ‫הלכות שבת‬. Bechinos are taken every other week, as well as a rigorous test at the end of the zman to promote retention. With this method, the Kollel hopes to produce knowledgeable and insightful dayanim for the next generation. NIGHT SEDER Night seder provides a chance for yungeleit to connect with the community on a regular basis. Every night, a strong ‫ קול תורה‬is heard in the bais medrash as ba’al habatim learn with yungeleit. These passionate hours of learning enable us to connect with community members on a deeper level and build lifelong bonds. “I’ve found outstanding Lomdei Torah who shteig in a warm, friendly atmosphere,” says Mr. Dovid Schnair. “It’s a real life-changer, and I’m proud to be part of it.”

After learning in kollel for five years, Rabbi Eli Newmark was brought back to Chicago to serve as the executive director for the Veitzener Kollel. He is an upstanding individual who has proven to be a great asset for both the Kollel and the community. Says Rabbi Moshe Rajchenbach, “I must tell you, Reb Eli is such a Geshmake guy. I’m so excited to have him back in the neighborhood.”
