Plastics & Rubbers Plastic Film Producer – Rail Unload System Vinyl Window Plant – PVC Blending System

PLANT SYSTEMS ENGINEERING RAILCAR UNLOADING SYSTEM: PLASTIC FILM PLANT Project Requirements: A Pennsylvania producer of PE film for bag production wanted to upgrade its rail unload operation by installing twin 40,000 PPH rail unload systems. The system required minimal operator interface and include fall protection for the workers when they opened the top hatches of the rail cars. Scope of Work: Vacuum Receivers and pump house along rail siding o Work with equipment vendors to select equipment. Produce all system engineering and construction drawings. o Engineer all foundations and structural steel. o Equipment for the twin 40K PPH systems included: 9 Two 6” vacuum systems for unloading the rail cars. 9 Two 6” pressure systems to load the existing silos 9 Manifolds and diverters 9 Vacuum and Pressure pumps installed in a pump house. 9 Integrated PLC controls 9 Fall protection systems at the rail siding Airlock under vacuum receiver 6” tubing manifold and fall connecting to pressure conveying protection system between the system rail sidings THE PLANT SYSTEMS GROUP, INC. 507 N. PLANT SYSTEMS ENGINEERING PVC BLENDING SYSTEM: VINYL WINDOW PLANT Project Requirements: A Pennsylvania producer of vinyl windows wanted to accurately blend PVC regrind with virgin. After considering several options, we determined that a screw conveyor with mixing flights would provide the right blend at the right price. The blending ratio was established on a volumetric basis The system was completed design-build. Project Features: o Work with equipment vendors to select equipment. Produce all system engineering and construction drawings. o Engineer and design structural steel for supporting equipment o Variable frequency drives used for speed control of screw feeders to enable volumetric proportioning o Custom PLC controls for controlling and monitoring vacuum loading system, hopper levels and screw speeds Two vacuum receivers mounted in a steel structure View of vacuum receivers and blending screw Mixing flights blend PVC virgin and regrind (screw trough cover removed) THE PLANT SYSTEMS GROUP, INC. 507 N.
