It is also a community of people takingthese answers seriously, focusing their efforts on the mostpromising solutions to the world's most pressing problems.” There are two lines of thought here – first, not all forms ofdoing good are equally effective – and second, it’s important tochoose the problems we devote our personal time and energyto not just based on personal preference or experience but onwhich are most pressing, least addressed and have the greatestchance of being solved. Based on these parameters, the EffectiveAltruism.org staffcurrently focuses on the following three areas: Fighting extremepoverty, fighting animal suffering and improving the long-termfuture, specifically in regard to monitoring the safe developmentof artificial intelligence.
