It comprises of 4 protected areas, three national parks and one wildlife sanctuary that are: Kaeng Krachan National Park, Kui Buri National Park, Chaloem Phra Kiat Thai Prachan National Park and Maenam Phachi Wildlife Sanctuary. This Forest Complex is one of the most significant biodiversity hotspots in Southeast Asia with at least 720 species of animals and comprises of four plant geographical characteristics, namely Indo-Burmese or Himalayan; Indo-Malaysian; Annamatic and Andamanese plant geographies. Thus, rare and endemic plants found here are Champi Phet (Magnolia mediocris), Champi Doi (M. gustvii) and Taeng Phanoen Thung (Trichosanthes phonsenae).
