EN30251 Name-Surname _____________1_________________ Class M.6/____ No. ____ HANDOUT # Unit 10 Reported Speech (Indirect Speech) ประโยค Reported Speech คือ ประโยคที่มีคนพูดโดยตรง มกั มเี คร่ืองหมายคาพูด (“....”) หรือเครื่องหมาย : กากับอยู่ มกั พบไดใ้ นบทสนทนา เช่น She said, “I’ve seen this movie.” Tom : I have to see the doctor now. ประโยค Reported Speech คอื ประโยคทเ่ี รานาคาพดู ของผู้อืน่ มาเล่าต่อ จะไมม่ ีเคร่ืองหมายคาพดู (“....”) กากับอยู่ เพราะไม่ได้เปน็ คาพดู ของผเู้ ล่าโดยตรง เชน่ She told us that she had seen that movie Tom told me that he had to see the doctor now ดังนั้น เมอื่ เราต้องการนาคาพดู ของคนอื่นมาเลา่ ตอ่ เราจึงต้องเปลี่ยนจากประโยค Direct Speech เป็นประโยค Reported Speech ซึง่ มรี ายละเอยี ดดังต่อไปนี้ Reported Statement หลกั การเปล่ยี นประโยค Direct Speech เปน็ Reported Speech มดี ังน้ี 1. การใช้ Reporting Verb ในประโยคนา เชน่ คาว่า announce, answer, explain, mention, promise, reply Say หรือ tell ส่วนใหญน่ ยิ มใช้ say กบั tell และมกั จะเปลี่ยนเปน็ กริยาชอ่ งท่ี 2 เน่ืองจากคาพดู ของคนอนื่ ท่ีเรามาพูดต่อ ถอื เปน็ คาพดู ที่พูดและสน้ิ สุดไปแล้วในอดตี 2. ใช้ that เปน็ คาเชอื่ มระหว่างประโยคนาและประโยคตาม ซ่งึ สามารถละได้ 3. เปล่ยี น tense เปน็ รูปอดตี การมากกว่าประโยคเดมิ 1 ขั้นตามตารางต่อไปนี้ Direct Speech Reported Speech 1. Reported Statement: _______________________________________________________________ **ข้อยกเวน้ ** 1. ไมต่ ้องเปลี่ยน tense ใหเ้ ปน็ อดตี มากกว่าเดมิ 1 ขนั้ ในกรณีต่อไปน้ี 1.1 Reporting Verb อยู่ในรปู Present Simple หรือ Future Simple เช่น Direct Statement: “The exhibition finished last week ,” explains Tom. Reported Statement: Tom explains that the exhibition finished last week. Direct Statement: I will tell him. “You are very kind” Reported Statement: I will tell him that he is very kind. 1.2 ประโยคนนั้ เป็นขอ้ เทจ็ จริงโดยทั่วไป เชน่ Direct Statement: He said, “the goose has a long neck.” Reported Statement: He said that the goose has a long neck. Direct Statement: She said, “Time and tide wait for no man.” Reported Statement: She said that time and tide wait for no man. 1.3 ประโยคน้นั กล่าวถงึ เหตุการณ์ที่ยังคงดาเนินอยู่ หรอื กาลังจะเกดิ ขึน้ ในไมช่ า้ เช่น Direct Statement: He said, “I am the president of the English club.” Reported Statement: He said he is the president of the English club.

3 Direct Statement: She said, “The plan will be landing in ten minutes.” Reported Statement: She said that the plan will be landing in ten minutes. 2. ไม่ต้องเปล่ียนคาบอกสถานที่ หากสถานที่ที่เรากลา่ วถึงเป็นแหง่ เดยี วกัน เชน่ Direct Statement: “I met Jan here,” said Hanna Reported Statement: Hanna said that she has met Jan here. (ผูพ้ ดู พูดขณะที่อยทู่ ่เี ดิม ไม่ได้เปลี่ยนแปลงสถานที่ ) Reported Statement: Hanna said that she has met Jan there. (ผู้พูดพูดขณะอยู่ท่ีอื่น สถานท่ีเปล่ียนแปลงไปแล้ว) Reported Command and Request หลักการเปลี่ยน Direct Command and Request เป็น Reported Command and Request มีดังน้ี 1. Reporting Verb ในประโยคนาใหใ้ ช้ command (สง่ั เฉียบขาด), order (คอ่ นขา้ งเฉียบขาด), tell (บอก, สัง่ ธรรมดา), ask (ขอร้อง), beg (วิงวอน, ออ้ นวอน) หรอื request (ขอร้อง), promise (สญั ญา), offer (เสนอ), warn (เตอื น) หรือคาอื่นๆ ตาม ความเหมาะสม 2. ในประโยคตามให้ใช้ to แล้วตามดว้ ยคากรยิ าไดเ้ ลย โดยไม่ต้องเปลีย่ น tense 3. ถ้าเปน็ ประโยคปฏิเสธ ซงึ่ มักขน้ึ ต้นด้วย Don’t ให้ตัด Don’t ทิ้ง แล้วใส่ not to ตามดว้ ยคากรยิ า 4. เปล่ยี นคาสรรพนามในประโยคตามให้สอดคล้องกบั ประโยคนา 5. เปล่ยี นคาบอกเวลา และสถานทใ่ี หส้ อดคลอ้ งกบั หลักความเป็นจรงิ (ดู Reported Statement) ตวั อย่าง 1. Reported Command and Request: ________________________________________________________ หมายเหตุ Reporting Verb admit, apologise for, insisting on, suggest ตามดว้ ย V.ing เชน่ - Nick suggested turning in down. - They apologised for making so much noise.

4 Reported Question หลกั การเปลี่ยนประโยค Direct Question เป็น Reported Question มีดังน้ี กรณที ่ี 1 ประโยคคาถามทีข่ ึ้นต้นดว้ ย Question Words (Who, What, Where, When, Why, How) 1. Reporting Verb ในประโยคนาใหใ้ ช้ ask, wonder หรือ want to know 2. ใช้ Question Word น้ัน ๆ เปน็ คาเช่ือมระหวา่ งประโยคนา และประโยคตามไดเ้ ลย 3. เรยี งลาดบั ประโยคเป็นแบบบอกเลา่ คือประธาน ตามด้วยกรยิ า และต้องตดั do, does หรอื did ที่เป็นกริยาช่วยออกไป แตถ่ า้ เป็นกรยิ าช่วยตวั อ่นื ๆ will, can, have ให้คงไว้ 4. เปลี่ยน tense ให้เปน็ อดีตมากกวา่ เดิม 1 ข้ัน (ดู Reported Statement) 5. เปลีย่ นคาสรรพนามในประโยคใหส้ อดคล้องกับประโยคนา 6. เปล่ียนคาบอกเวลาและสถานที่ให้สอดคล้องกบั ความเป็นจรงิ (ดู Reported Statement) 7. ตดั เครื่องหมาย “?” ท้ิง ตวั อย่าง 1.
