The Puzzle ‫اللغز‬ Isn’t indeed a Puzzle ‫لم يبق لغزا‬ Abou Yaareb Al-Marzouki ‫أبو يعرب المرزوق‬ – 1441.02.14 ‫تونس في‬ Tunis 14.02.1441 – 14.10.2019 2019.10.14 Had Al-Karoui won it would have been easy to ‫لو نجح القروي لسهل افتراض التزييف لأن فشله كان متوقعا‬ suppose forgery of the presidential elections. However, as Saeed has won, it would be hard to accuse the elections of forgery to counter the opposite .‫لغزا محيرا‬ expectation in the first case. The result nevertheless is ‫ذلك أنه بعملية حسابية بسيطة يتبين أن مجموع ما حصل عليه‬ a tricky puzzle. ‫سعيد في الانتخابات (ما يفوق الثلاثة ملايين ناخب) يساوي ما‬ A simple calculation process indicates the sum of ‫يقرب من ضعف ما حصلت عليه كل القوى السياسية مجتمعة في‬ what Saeed achieved in the election (nearly than three ‫ وهو كذلك ما حصل عليه السبسي والمرزوقي‬.‫الانتخابات النيابية‬ million votes) equals about double of votes achieved by all political powers in representative’s elections. If some people think this is natural and reasonable they .‫الربانية بخلاف طبائع الأمور في كل الأمصار والعصور‬ must be either mad or have faith in magic and incapacitations. The depth of the matter, however, both of them dwell out of state of affairs and of history; both are unaware of the group’s needs and of the limited capabilities of Tunisia, striving to achieve freedom and dignity conditions in actions rather than in words. Whoever thinks the way they do could be a novelist of a simple and naïve imagination. Such a figure has nothing to do with politics, which implies strategies of care and protection of peoples. Strategies that empower nations to autonomous rule and enable them to accomplish sufficiency conditions, liberating them from external needs the way they currently are doing. 1

It is clear the battle has started tonight and it is not ‫وواضح أن المعركة بدأت مساء الأمس ولم تنته بحسم‬ over by election result, as superficial intellectuals ‫الانتخابات كما قد يظن أصحاب الفكر السطحي من اصحاب‬ would think, those quixotic intellectuals who embrace ‫ كما أن‬.14-17 ‫العنتريات والمؤمنين بالمعجزات وبعودة ثورة‬ faith in incapacitations and the return of 14-17 ‫ظاهرة الشباب حتى لو صدقناها لا تكفي لتفسيرها لأنها هي‬ revolution. Moreover, even if we construe the youth ‫ فليس في فكر الرجل وشعارات حملته ما هو‬.‫بدورها ليست عادية‬ phenomenon it would not suffice to explain the ‫من هموم شباب عصرنا بل هو يخاطبهم بما يشبه تخريف صوت‬ enigma for it is on its own is not natural. I might not be of those who would understand dignity battles and politics, but I still have not become the Clown ������ “Abou Saadeya” or a Simple Old Lady “Oummak Sisi”. I still embrace sound reason and I would not buy this farcical display. 2

This condition necessitates the presumption that ‫وهو ما يوجب ان نفترض أن ما حدث لسعيد قابل للتفسير‬ what happened to Saeed is interpretable by uniformity ‫بالتناسب مع ما حصل للقروي وبالقياس إلى ما حصل للقوة‬ with what happened to Karoui, and by extent to what ‫ فهما قوتان تسعيان إلى الهيمنة على‬.‫الضديدة للقوة التي تساند‬ happened to the counter power, rendering support. ‫الاقليم كله بأساليب الحرب الحديثة التي تفسر الظاهرة فلا‬ There are two powers striving for dominance over the ‫ ولا يمكن أن يكون ما تفعله إسرائيل وإيران مما يمكن‬.‫تبقيها لغزا‬ whole region; they employ modern war techniques, ‫أن يعتبر استعماله في فهم الاحداث مستندا إلى ما يسخر منه عادة‬ which interpret the phenomenon and reveal its ‫بالقول إنه شماعة نظرية المؤامرة فالأمر بين للجميع وهو‬ mystery. Using what Israel and Iran are doing to ‫استراتيجية صريحة وليس مؤامرة خفية نرى نتائجه في جل بلاد‬ fathom the regional events shall not invite sarcasm, ‫المشرق بدءا بالعراق وسوريا واليمن والبحرين وخاصة في لبنان‬ saying it is the usual claim of conspiracy theory. The matter is quite clear for all. It is an apparent strategy .‫التي هي بؤرته وقاعدة كل عملياته‬ rather than a secret plot. The consequences are clear in most countries of the East starting with Iraq, Syria, ‫وكلنا يعلم أن إسرائيل لم تخف شيئا في مساندتها للقروي‬ Yemen, Bahrain, and particularly in Lebanon, its focus ‫بأدواتها المباشرة وغير المباشرة والقروي لم يبذل جهدا كبير‬ ‫ فالقوة التي حاولت تمريرة لم تخف‬.‫لإخفاء هويته المشبوهة‬ and base of all operations. ‫ ومن ثم فينبغي أن‬.‫دورها بل شاركت صراحة في محاولة تسويقه‬ We all know Israel kept nothing secret in her ‫تكون إيران هي الضديد الذي يناظرها في المعركة وهي معروفة‬ support of Karoui both through immediate and ‫بألا تظهر عملها إلا بعد أن يصل إلى عدم الرجع أي النجاح الثابت‬ indirect devices. Therefore, Iran must be her rival, which counters Israel in the battle. :‫فإذا لم ننس‬ Iran is known for not revealing her action until it attains the point of no return, a secured victory of her agent to engage the departments concerned with the land’s security deep in coma, or simply makes them to collaborate, using techniques of known nature. If we still not slipped: ‫• الفريق الروسي الذي كان يفحص السجلات المدنية في تونس‬ .‫وأمسكت به الاستعلامات في بنزرت بالذات‬ .‫• وإذا لم ننس أبواق الملالي وخلاياها في تونس واختراقاتها‬ ‫• وإذا لم ننس حملة التسجيلات الأخيرة في قوائم الناخبين‬ .‫التي بلغت مليونا ونصفا‬ ‫• وإذا لم نغفل عن كون نتائج سعيد يساوي ما تتجاوز به كل‬ ‫القوى السياسية مجتمعة لهذا الرقم تقريبا‬ ‫• وإذا لم ننس ما حصل في انتخابات أمريكا ونجاح ترومب رغم‬ ‫أنف حزبه وعكس كل التوقعات وبتدخل بين من نفس المافيا‬ .‫الروسية فإن اللغز يمكن ألا يبقى لغزا‬ This hypothesis does not imply a disdain or doubt ‫وليس في هذه الفرضية تحقير للشعب التونسي أو تشكيك في‬ in the Tunisian People in terms of their wit or sincerity ‫ذكائه أو اخلاصه للوطن لأن ما حصل في أمريكا وهي أعرق‬ to their homeland. The occurrence in the States, the ‫ديموقراطية لا يمكن أن يكون مثيله فيه شيء من الاحتقار للناخب‬ greatest democracy, does not imply that an equivalent ‫ فهذا من فنيات الحروب الحديثة التي تعمل على‬.‫التونسي‬ event involves any form of disdain to the Tunisian ‫اللاوعي في التوجيه الذي يشبه التنويم المغناطيسي الذي يجعل‬ voter. Nevertheless, this is not the important point: what ‫ المهم هو معرفة من المستهدف ومن‬:‫لكن ليس هذا هو المهم‬ is important is to know the target and the benefiter. ‫المستفيد؟‬ The Target are two rivals of these two powers, ‫والمستهدف خصمان لهذين القوتين المتصارعتين على احتلال‬ striving over the occupation of the region: :‫الإقليم‬ Now, who is the benefiter? ‫والآن من المستفيد؟‬ ‫واضح أن الذيلين ومن وراؤهما كلهم مستفيدون ومجمعون‬ It is clear that the “Two Tails” (Iran and Israel) and ‫ القضاء على الإسلام السياسي حتى ما‬-1 :‫على هذين الهدفين‬ all those behind them, are all benefiters, and all are in ‫كان منه يحاول التحول إلى حزب مدني يفصل بين الديني‬ agreement over these two targets: 1) elimination of political Islam, even the one trying to disguise as a .‫والسياسي‬ ‫القضاء على الثورة وخاصة في تونس حيث تبدو قد نجحت‬ civil party, separating the religious and political. .‫نسبيا وما تزال تمثل نموذجا في الإقليم‬ Riddance of the revolution, particularly in Tunisia, ‫ومن ثم فالتعاون بين إيران وإسرائيل رغم التنافس بين تماما‬ where it seems to succeed relatively, still representing .‫كما حدث في المشرق‬ a model in the region. ‫ ما الهدف؟‬:‫والسؤال هو‬ Hence, unison action between Iran and Israel ‫وهل هو مشترك بين هذه القوى التي تريد منع الإقليم من‬ despite their vying is quite manifest as it is clear in the ‫الخروج من الاستثناء لئلا يعود إلى دور تاريخي كوني كما كان في‬ East Arab States. ‫الماضي؟‬ The Question, then: what is the goal? ‫وما الذي يثبت هذه الوحدة في الاستهداف؟‬ Is the goal common among these powers, wanting ‫ينبغي أن يكون ما يخطط له في المغرب من جنس ما حصل في‬ to prevent the region breaking from exemption, so it ‫ لا بد من جعل “تونس” قاعدة لهما في‬.‫المشرق وأتى اكله فيه‬ shall not resume a cosmic historical role as done in the ‫المغرب كما فعلا في المشرق أي لا بد لهما “لبنان” جديدة لتكون‬ ‫ساحة معركة في التسابق المجانس للتسابق الذي حصل فيها وفيه‬ past? ‫تكب “نقطة الزيت” أو التي ستسيح وتتمدد على المغرب الكبير‬ What is the proof of this unity of goals? .‫مثلما فعلت في المشرق الكبير‬ Planning for the West Arab States must parallel ‫لو كان في تونس مصالح استعلاماتية تعمل بمعايير عليمة‬ that which occurred in the East Arab States and ‫فتبحث في الأمور بمنطق يقبله العقل لكان هذا هو المسار الذي‬ seemed to have succeeded there. Therein, they shall spill the “oil spot”, i.e. chaos, which will spread and expand over the West Arab States the way it did in the East Arab States. Had Tunisia mastered an Information Service, operating with well-informed criteria, and investigating matters with a reasonable logic, it would have become the route to follow in decoding the unreasonable code of the puzzle, without recourse to interpretation of the ways of history and the laws of sociology. 4

What is running in Tunisia is not different from ‫فما يحدث في تونس لا يختلف عما حدث في لبنان فمهد لما حدث‬ what happened in Lebanon, preparing the scene for the ‫في العراق وفي سوريا وفي اليمن وكله بالانطلاق من موطئ قدم هو‬ events in Iraq, Syria and Yemen. All such events set ‫الفتنة والحرب الاهلية في لبنان حيث مركز نوعي المليشيات‬ off from a foothold, namely, discord and civil war. Thus, it becomes a “dumpsite” for Information and Conspiracies over the West Arab ‫كان يمكن أن أرقص مع الراقصين فأنال اعجاب من يتصورون‬ .‫أنفسهم مؤمنين بالثورة وهم بصدد الامضاء على شهادة اغتيالها‬ States similar to Lebanon in the East Arab States. ‫لا شيء سيفسد مسارها نحو تأسيس ديموقراطية أول شروط تحقيق‬ ‫المصالحة بين أبناء تونس للتفرغ إلى العمل واستعادة شروط‬ I would have danced with the dancers and so win ‫السيادة أعني الحد الأدنى من الاكتفاء الذاتي في الرعاية وفي‬ approval of those who fancy themselves attaining faith in the revolution while they are about to endorse its .‫الحماية‬ assassination certificate. Thus, they shall have ‫العودة إلى القذافيات والعنتريات فستؤجج الحرب الأهلية الباردة‬ the opportunity to strive and retrieve conditions of ‫التي تمثلها معركة نمط المجتمع والهوية وقد تنقلها إلى مرحلة من‬ sovereignty, i.e. the basic minimum of national self- ‫ ذلك ما‬.‫السخونة تنتهي بتونس إلى ما نراه في كل بلاد الربيع‬ ‫يدفعني إلى ما يظنه ذوو الحماسة الهوجاء ابتعادا عن حس‬ sufficiency in care and protection. ‫ الحكمة ليست ديماغوجية اتباع الشارع بل محاولة‬.‫الشارع‬ Without these two functions, no state representing ‫ ولا بأس إذا تبين أن مخاوفي ليست في‬.‫ترشيده ما أمكن الترشيد‬ the will of its people shall attain a sense of policy, ‫ ولكني أشك‬.‫محلها فلن نخسر شيئا بمزيد الحذر لتجنب النكبات‬ which is the art of administering common peaceful ‫أن تكون قوانين الاجتماع وسنن التاريخ “بنت حلال” فتمنح تونس‬ living. However, resorting to quixotic behaviour shall ‫حق الاستثناء من أثرها عليها حتى “يرقص” أبناؤها على عزف‬ stir the cold civil war, reflected in community pattern and identity. This could move the State to a degree of .”‫يشبه عزف “صوت العرب‬ heat that might drag Tunisia to what we currently witness in the Spring Countries. This drives me to a .‫والله أعلم‬ stance considered by avid zealots a disregard of the street pulse. Wisdom is by no means a demagogue street following, but it is an attempt to rationalize the street to the possible extent. There is no harm if my fears are groundless, as we shall lose nothing with more care to avoid catastrophes. Nevertheless, I doubt that laws of sociology and ways of history are so “cool” to grant Tunisia the right of exemption from their impact, allowing the Tunisians to “dance” on tunes similar to “Arab Voice”. None encompasses the state of affairs like Allah! 5
