The second day focused on private sector and local content for both services (sub-contractor, KSA and international) and manufacturers (KSA and international). Finally, on the third day and, in line with its knowledge sharing mission, MESIA has organized technical workshops specially tailored for Saudi youth talents in participation with HIWPT selected trainers and students who were primarily engaging in solar power project and training development.

Page 2 International Volunteer Day Celebration The Higher Institute for Water and Power Technologies (HIWPT) participated in the celebration of International Volunteer Day last December 5, 2019 in cooperation with the Directorate of Civil Defense and Ministry of Health held at HIWPT multi-purpose hall in Rabigh. Present at the occasion was Shaikh Aymen Bin Mohammad Barakah Bin Mobaireek, Governor of Rabigh, who cordially greeted and inspired the participants in volunteering. The Governor also toured the safety demonstration and other presentation activities of the HIWPT trainers and trainees, local volunteers, youths and employees from different sectors. The event highlights not only to celebrate volunteerism in all its facets, but also to pay special tribute and award to people’s participation in making a difference locally and nationally. International Volunteer Day is marked by many non- governmental organizations, including the Red Crescent, the scouts and others. It is also marked and supported by UN volunteers. HIWPT and SESP Sign MOU for Saudi Vision The Higher Institute for Water and Power Technologies (HIWPT) and Saudi Electric Services Polytechnic (SESP) signed last December 01, 2019 a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to cater the growing demand of vocational and technical training in the region complementing the Saudi Vision 2030 for human resources development. The MOU is a collaboration of the expertise in training services and approaches between HIWPT & SESP in the power and energy sectors. The two Institutions will work on establishing training venues and programs covering for new trades such as artificial intelligence and digitization revolution in the power industry along with energy efficiency in solar and wind. Also, HIWPT and SESP will support in allocating students based on region demands and programs by sponsoring companies.
