WELCOME Mrs Clare Sharp GEMS TBS Principal TO GEMS TBS I am pleased to welcome you back to the 2020-21 school year! I would like to extend a special welcome to all of the new families joining TBS this year and welcome back all of our returning families as well! Our goal at TBS is to work together to provide our students with a rich learning environment. My vision, as the principal, is to always put our students first! My belief is that all students can learn. As educators, we need to discover how each child learns in order to differentiate our instruction to support diverse learning styles. In a collaborative effort, we want children to thrive in all ways possible. My hope is that all students will  enjoy school as we nurture a learning environment that is positive, safe, warm, caring, as well as a fun place to learn and grow.   Student success is attributed to the partnership and the relationships we build within our community and this is most important now more than ever. At TBS we value teamwork and collaboration! Education is a joint venture and TBS appreciates the support you provide for your children at home and at school to help them meet their true potential.   Although this year looks different than any other year, we are dedicated to providing your child(ren) with a memorable, interactive, engaging learning experience. You can be helping your child prepare for school by: Having the correct uniform ready for school. On PE days they will wear their PE kit to school. Preparing school bag with: Wipeable pencil case with HB pencils, colouring pencils, eraser, sharpener, white board, white board markers and eraser, scissors, ruler and a glue stick Plastic Apron Labelled water bottle Labelled lunch box Hand sanitiser/anti bacterial wipes Practising wearing masks to walk in to school as per the guidelines for each year group Practising what social distancing looks like Ensuring they are in good health with no illness symptoms NEW ACADEMIC YEAR

As a school we will be following our health and safety Maintain Social Distance precautionary measures produced by our Health and Safety Manager here in Egypt. CODE OF CONDUCT (TERMS AND CONDITIONS) You and your child are valued highly at GEMS TBS. To ensure a fruitful and a sustainable relationship between home and school for the welfare of your child(ren), we ask you to read carefully and sign our GEMS Parent Charter, School Code of Conduct, Home School Agreement. This will help us to provide the best for all of our students and manage expectations of both parents and school management through your journey with us. Dealing with respect and courtesy is a must at all times within the school environment,  Front of House team is the team in charge of handling your complaints and concerns and mutual respect should be maintained while dealing with them at all stages. Your child(ren) seat at GEMS TBS is subject to all financial dues being made on time and first instalment settled before the start of the academic year. School policies. The Parents and student must abide by all School policies, as may be amended from time to time. A current copy of the School’s policies is available upon request. Provision of information to parents. The School will provide information about the student, including report cards, attendance records, and other items in the student’s file, either to the student or to a Parent. In the event that the School becomes aware of a dispute between the Parents, and in order to protect privacy of communications, the School will not share communications between the School and either Parent with the other Parent, unless required to do so by an official document confirming the guardian- in charge. Medical liability. Neither the School nor any of its affiliates, shareholders, directors, employees, consultants or agents will be liable for injury to the student resulting from improper treatment of its medical conditions if the Parents fail to inform the School of such medical conditions in writing or comply with the School’s medical policy or other instructions provided by the School or the Health Office Staff Fee payment: A full Fee Guide includes annual fees, policies, refunds, payment plans, discounts and financial facilitation options including flexible instalment plans can be found on the school website from here Application at GEMS TBS. Student application is considered 'completed' only upon: submission of all required documents as listed in the check list and payment of assessment fees Assessment. Screening and assessment standards and process for students are determined by the education team of the school and are necessary to complete the admission process. Parent interview should also be scheduled with school principal. Once Assessment is confirmed, Assessment Fees of EGP 2,000 should be paid via available payment channels. Then Assessment and interview take place. Student is allowed one further trial with no extra fees if doesn’t pass the first assessment. Agreement 1

CODE OF CONDUCT (TERMS AND CONDITIONS) Registration. A place in classes at GEMS Egypt network is only guaranteed once we have received the down payment and/ OR first instalment in full- whichever applicable as per date of application. One-time registration fees of EGP 10,500 should be paid within 7 days from receiving the acceptance offer from the school. School fees. Must be paid on or before the due date of the relevant School term to secure the student’s place at the School. Tuition fees.  Includes annual tuition fees and the additional service fees and doesn't include transportation, uniform, books, non-educational trips or canteen. Parent should comply with the payment plan announced by the school for each academic year Withdrawal and refund.  Notice of student withdrawal and application for a tuition refund at the request of the parent/guardian must be made in writing to the School Principal or Registrar in advance.  Fees are non-refundable & it will only incur in the most exceptional cases and will be in line with local regulatory guidelines outlined in the full Fee Guide on the school website. Down Payment/ Re-enrolment.  Every academic year, a re-enrolment process is held at the beginning of 2nd term or semester (1st April) and a communication will be sent to parents as reminders to send confirmation in return and make down payment for the new academic year within the communicated time frame. Re-enrolment fees are settled against the first instalment and not additional fees. For New parents, this will be a down payment against the 1st instalment fees of the academic year. If-for any reason- a parents decides to move his/ her child(ren) from school, a written notification should be submitted to the school's admission office to initiate the transfer process starting with the exit interview with parents. Some expenses might be charged depending on time of the request during the academic year. CODE OF CONDUCT (HOME- SCHOOL AGREEMENT) I understand that it is important to use the PRE and other front of house contacts to contact the school and I will use this to report any immediate concerns that I may have. I understand that it is a requirement that all students attend all parts of the curriculum. I understand that part-time students are not accepted and that 100 per cent attendance is expected apart from instances of genuine illness. I understand that it is essential that my child attends school every day and is punctual. I will inform the school of sickness or lateness at my earliest convenience. I agree to make sure that my child does his/her homework as directed by their teacher. I agree that I will set aside time to ask my child how their day went. I understand the importance of meeting with the relevant teachers termly through the medium of the parent consultation evening. I will ensure that my child goes to bed at a reasonable hour in order to be ready to learn at school. I understand that my child requires a happy, welcoming and safe environment in which to learn and I agree to accept the school’s discipline policies. I agree to ensure that my child comes to school in the correct uniform so that he/she is part of our school community. I will make sure that my child is well-equipped for school. I will always expect good manners and presentation from my child as is befitting a British School pupil. I understand that the school is only concerned with the welfare of the child and does not become involved in family disputes of any kind. I will always make sure that: -My child will abide by all rules and regulations of the school -My child will always wear the correct school uniform -My child will comply to all health and safety procedures as instructed by the school based on what is appropriate for his/her age group Please note that persistent breaches of the below agreement may lead to suspension and/or expulsion at the discretion of the school. CODE OF CONDUCT (IMAGE & NAME USAGE CONSENT) Occasionally, we may take photographs of the children in school and in the classroom or outdoor settings. We may use these images in our publicity materials, for example in the school’s prospectus or in other printed publications, as well as on our website and Facebook page. We may also make video or webcam recordings for school-to-school conferences, monitoring or other educational use. From time to time, our school may be visited by the media, who will take photographs or film footage of a visiting dignitary or other high profile event. Students will often appear in these images, which may appear in local or national newspapers, websites or on televised news programmes. Generally we believe that photographs for school use, and those that appear in the press, are a source of pleasure and pride. We believe they can enhance self-esteem for children and young people as well as their families and so are to be welcomed.
