50. SIDNEY The compass is broken? ARTY Or maybe we are in the magnetic field. CALLIE Magnetic field? ARTY Pap once said that when he used to fly over the swamp in a twin-engine plane, the compass would spin when he crossed a certain area of the swamp. He takes theCottonmouth snake to a nearby slough and sets it free. LANA Why did you let it go? It could try to bite my kids? NILE There are a thousand snakes out here that could bite your kids. That’s why they were taught to be extra careful out here. Right? Plus, snakes don’t need to be killed just because it was defending it’s territory.
73.Lana stares, knowing he’s right. Nile scans theirsurroundings and finds a safe spot for them to sit on a logto drink water. Lana gazes around the mystic swamp. LANA I can’t believe those kids came this far on their own. NILE You’d be surprised what some kids do without their Mom knowing a thing about it. LANA Arty’s Dad and Grandfather used to take him out here when he was little. I think they spent more time in the woods than they did at home. NILE Someone once said the same thing about me. LANA When did she leave you? NILE How do you know she left me? LANA Because if she was waiting for you at home, you probably wouldn’t be here in a swamp right now.
