What is Ear Care Practitioner, Sarah NicholsMicrosuction? The Hearing Care Centre | 13HCC’s Ear Care Practitioner, SarahNichols explains the safe procedureof removing troublesome earwaxusing microsuction…Microsuction is a procedure that usesgentle suction to remove built-upexcessive wax. Firstly we examine theear to determine the extent of yourproblem using both a pair of binocularmicroscopes, and video otoscope. The removal of the wax is carried outusing a microscope (which allows greaterdepth-perception and magnification)and light which enables the ear canalto be seen clearly at all times during theprocedure. While looking down the earcanal we use a very fine sterile probe tovacuum out the wax. The most you shouldfeel is a gentle pulling sensation as the waxis removed from the canal. The techniquemeans that we can avoid touching the skinof the sides of the ear canal which makesthe process a lot more comfortable. Finally, we can check the conditionof your ear canal and ear drum, using thevideo otoscope. Microsuction is by far themost effective and safest way of cleaningblocked ears. The Hearing Care Centre offersmicrosuction daily in Ipswich and monthlyin our Aldeburgh, Beccles, Felixstowe,Sudbury and Thetford clinics.
