Haute Looks HOW TO DRESS YOU! A Step Up To Dressing By Qistina Farisha Safrani Binte Mohamed Faizal How To Find Your Body Type! No two snowflakes are the same and they are all beautifully crafted like YOU! There are many misconceptions when identifying what you look like physically. But worry not because we are here to give you insight on your body type and tips and tricks on how to dress YOU! To start, there are 5 common body shapes. A representation of the 5 common body types Credits: Putting Me Together They are the Apple, the Pear, the Inverted Triangle, the Rectangle, and the Hourglass figures. Credits: The Medium A pear-shaped body is when you have hips and thighs that are wider than your shoulders and chest. A square neck or boat neck can help to broaden your shoulders and balance your upper body. A medium light-colored pants could help to accentuate your hips and thighs, and make your legs look longer. To draw less attention to your bottom half, try tops with a more open Jennifer Lopez representing a neckline or shoulder cutting, or even bright colored tops and jackets! pear figure An apple body shape typically has a larger upper than lower body and a minimal waistline. Look for tops with a balanced streamline that are fitted but not skin tight. We recommend showing off your shoulders and collarbone with peplum or Credits: Blogs@Baruch v-necked tops. Try wearing straight-cut jeans to keep a balanced look so that there is no overcompensation of one body part over another. When wearing dresses, Look for flowy fit dresses that are not too lengthy to show off your legs! Commonly, swimmers tend to carry an inverted triangle figure due to their extensive use of upper body Credits: The Medium muscles. With a broader upper body, a top or a dress with a built-in waist shape, or a lengthened neckline can help to give you an instant hourglass shape for your hips. Avoid fitting bottoms and go for looser fits like bell-bottoms, or Naomi Campbell wide-legged pants. This helps to create balance between your shoulders and representing an your bottom half, giving you a more flattering look. inverted triangle figure ODIO 3

A rectangular figure is where your hips, shoulder and waistline are aligned Credits: EverdayPlush with each other. This is common amongst cheerleaders and weightlifters. Credits: Facebook An easy way to dress the rectangular body is to find balance between the top and bottoms. For example, If you are wearing oversized tops, try skinny fit bottoms instead. Oh, and if you want to cheat your way to looking taller, try dark, skinny or high-waisted pants. Cameron Diaz representing a rectangular figure An hourglass shaped body is when both your hips and shoulder are relatively even and where your waistline is well-defined. Wearing a fitted and structured top will help to accentuate your figure. Tops like V Necks, and keyholes can help to define the upper parts of your body, while flared or skinny fit pants can help to accentuate your curves further. When looking for a jacket, it is your choice on which part of your body you would like to accentuate but we recommend something Sofia Vergara representing belted.an hourglass figure The Three Golden Rules #1: When styling and picking out clothes for yourself, you should always remember balance. According to her, being confident in what you wear does not always mean that you will feel positive about how you look because of the industry definition of “pretty”. She also mentioned that, “What suits others may not suit you, and more than likely, if we all had the perfect figure, it’ll be boring and make us all a perfect carbon copy that loses its uniqueness to self.” We at Odio could not agree more with that! Matilda’s favorite picture of herself taken at Don Don Donki Remember that what looks good on others may not look good on you because of the differences in so many things and THAT IS OKAY! Just wear what makes you, you! Love yourself, love your differences, and the part of you that makes you stand out. YOU have the choice of choosing what to emphasise for your body and you can use it to your best advantage. Find YOUR look, own it and wear it with confidence. Trust me, you’ll thank us. 4 ODIO

Game For Anything THE APPEAL OF GENSHIN IMPACT A game as contagious (but nowhere near as dangerous) as COVID-19 By Megan Lim Our Dream, Every Parent’s Nightmare Credits: KnowYourMeme.com We’ve all heard about the 18-year-old Singaporean girl who racked up $20,000 on her father’s credit card on the game Genshin Impact. If you’re a fellow Genshin player, you definitely had to endure glares from your parents. But what draws us to You pretending that you’ve never the game so much that we would willingly spend $20,000 on it? dreamed of spending $20,000 on Genshin First Things First, What’s Genshin Impact? She also “leave[s] [the game] on for the music” because “it’s one of [her] favourite aspects”. She says that listening to her favourite tracks “over and over again” is “the best feeling”. 8 ODIO

Yu-Peng Chen, the game’s composer, said in an interview with Video Game Music Online that he wanted to create “beautiful melodies” full of “hope and passion” to “move the players”, and he definitely succeeded. Natalie cried during the last part of a quest, where a character sang Chinese Opera. If you think we’re exaggerating, just listen to Adeptus’ Retirement and you’ll understand the true meaning of “music heals the soul”. Kinning Very simply, “kinning” a character is when you feel a deep connection to them, to the point where you feel like you are the character. People kin for fun, but it’s also comfort- ing to find a character that represents you. There’re 47 characters in Genshin, each with different personalities and backstories. “There is a character for everyone,” Natalie feels, and for her, that character is Ayato, an aristocrat from Inazuma. She already has “a few hundred dollars” saved for him from her Chinese New Year red packets. Players are willing to spoil their kins with better weapons and constellations (duplicates of the same character that increases their abilities) because it’s fun to play as a power- ful character, especially when that character is literally you. However, these items can only be attained through wishing using Primogems (game currency). Wishes are randomised, so players aren’t guaranteed the desired weapon or character. Once Primogems are used up, real money can be used to buy Genesis Crystals, which can be exchanged for Primogems. Unsurprisingly, Natalie is “eyeing the [two most] expensive” ones for Ayato. Community Shenanigans Genshin’s greatest strength is its ability to create a sense of community. Players trade tips on good character builds and farm for artifacts together. Artifacts boost a character’s health, attack, and other stats. They can only be attained by fight- ing enemies. No matter what friend group you’re in, there’s no stronger bonding experi- ence than beating up giant monsters with everyone barely surviving. Natalie says that whenever she plays with friends, “sometimes it’s just shit-talk[ing], sometimes it’s just screaming,” but “it’s fun”. Pulling for characters with Genshin buddies is a truly chaotic and wonderful experience. Most A set-up consisting of a Zhongli stand, players have some sort of ritual before pulling, manifestation circle, Primogems, and it’s surreal to watch them do it. But as they Credits: Megan Lim and ‘osmanthus is say, the best friends are the ones you can be wine’ (soju), which Zhongli’s favourite weirdest with, and that applies to communities as well, no matter how big. Public Service Announcement While the appeal of Genshin Impact might be worth $20,000, the beating we will receive from our Asian parents is definitely not. So here’s a quick PSA: set a budget and spend within your means. Or if you have zero self-control, simply don’t play the game. In this situation, it’s best to let our dreams be dreams. At least until we start earning our own money. ;) ODIO 9

Honorary mentions include Avatar’s Zuko and Marvel’s Loki. Redemption arcs teach us that growth is not linear. And while it’s a good message, it gets repetitive. Because sometimes we just want to see characters embrace chaos. If you’re one of those people, then let me introduce you to Little Nightmares, a puzzle-platform horror adventure game released by Tarsier Studios on 28 April 2017. Little Nightmares is filled with a beautifully terrifying art style, haunting music, and amazing animated characters. If you liked Limbo or Inside, then you’ll love this! The game follows Six, a tiny girl trying to escape the Maw, a monstrous place filled with towering obstacles and grotesque antagonists, where everything and everyone is trying to kill her. It shows that corruption arcs can be just as nuanced as redemption arcs, if not more so, as we get to see characters lose themselves to madness. We might even find ourselves excusing some of their behaviours as we slowly get used to their “evil deeds” and understand what drives them to do what they do. 10 ODIO Credits: Little Nightmares DOWN: MONSTERS. Tune In TAYLOR SWIFT AND THE ART OF S Long Story Short Taylor’s music is here By Lou Si Y Everybody knows Taylor Swift. Taylor Swift attends the “All Too Well” New York Premier Pop princess extraordinaire and probably the biggest musical artist of the 21st century. Love her or hate her, you’ve definitely heard her name and her songs on the radio or playing in stores. Unless you live under a rock, you’re probably familiar with at least a handful of her songs. If you’re a big fan, you can probably name her entire discography in order of release. Taylor’s music has influenced so many rising artists of the next generation, such as 2021’s 18-year-old chart topper Olivia Rodrigo and indie pop, soft boy Conan Gray. Her influence on 21st century pop and pop culture (ahem don’t lie we can all name at least 3 of her exes and we don’t talk about the Kanye thing) is undeniable. But how exactly did a girl from West Reading, Pennsylvania win 11 Grammys (3 of which were Album of the year- which she now ties for the record), 34 American Music Awards, 25 Billboard Music Awards and set 55 Guinness World Records? The answer? Her ability to tell stories through her songs. Both casual and avid listeners of her music can tell you all about her critically acclaimed song ‘All Too Well’, which is dubbed one of her all time best songs. It recently received a re-release alongside all of the tracks from her 2012 album ‘Red’. In this re-released album, titled ‘Red (Taylor’s Version)’, Taylor also released an extended 10 min version of the song, appropriately titled ‘All Too Well (10 Min Version) (Taylor’s Version)’.
