MESSAGE From the President to be updated 2020-2021 It is now May 2020, and our memories of the year 2019 seem so far away since almost everything in the first year of this decade has been consumed by the events surrounding the COVID-19 Pandemic. Our second AGM is now a virtual event and more than likely our upcoming business meetings will be virtual as well. These pandemic associated events will forever change our lives as well as our Soroptimist organization. Our real first operating year as a club has demonstrated that we can be resilient and innovative, and more importantly exhibit the value contribution our organization can make in in the lives of women and girls. Who would have thought we would have to be as agile and flexible in our early years as a club as we have been? The cohesive bonds that joined us so many months ago are as strong as ever to propel us over these hurdles. Our many projects valiantly championed by our members make us relevant as a club and as an NGO and our drive and energy as a club continues to inspire others. During these difficult economic times, we continue to attract donor and supporters. They believe in us. We have a valuable gift; we should continue to nurture it. All the members of the executive have presented the reports on our representation, our projects and our achievements. A few events are worthy of mention. The first is the partnership with the ASJA Girls High School Barrackpore, where the reach that started with life education seminars has now extended to the families of the girls through the COVID Compassion Project. That is certainly a special partnership leveraged by our participation in the InterClub. The second event is our participation at the SI Conference in Malaysia. With blogs and photos, we felt we were there. The next event is our Green Market Fundraiser in September of 2019. It was destined to be signature event and it will again possibly in 2021. In the latter part of 2019, we were asked to present one of our projects at the SIGBI Bournemouth Conference – Programme Action Meeting, and Leah stepped up so exquisitely and expertly to deliver our Girls in Aviation Project. That was quite an achievement in our early years as a club. We bagged two spots on the SICN Executive, and our participation will make a real difference in the future of the organization. And I save the best for last – this will be the memories of our glowing member Ursula on the day she received the award from The InterClub of Trinidad and Tobago. Apart from the award, images of Ursula who twirled and dipped with her handsome dance partner will remain with us. It was one of the last times were all together, apart from our business meeting a few days later. All of these events were swiftly sent to press and posted on Facebook by Marilyn and her Team. As we move to the next year, we should focus on the things we need to do as a club. There are some outstanding policies and procedures we should complete before the next AGM. We will make the time to do this. To close, I will always have to say that if not for the efforts of our Club’s Executive and membership, we would not leave the marks we do. I would like to thank all of you for the dedication and commitment, and your ways of inspiring everyone you meet. I thank you for 7|Page

the sisterly friendship that you embody as your special aura. As always thanks to Denyse and her family who opened their home for all those meetings. It was our very own clubhouse. And now on to the future, where the new clubhouse is a virtual meeting room, where we ease into our new normal, where we continue to find innovative ways of completing projects and carrying out the work associated with the goals of our organization. SOROPTIMIST INTERNATIONAL ESPERANCE SECRETARY’S REPORT MAY 2020 - APRIL 2021 Sisters of SI Esperance, I EXTEND A CORDIAL WELCOME to you to this our 3rd Annual General Meeting and our second virtual AGM. It is my pleasure to present to you the Secretary’s Report for the period May 2020 to April 2021, a period during which we perfected the art of being virtual - virtual meetings, virtual Club celebrations, even a Virtual Friendship Day. What a year it has been!! A year of firsts - First DigiGirlz Virtual Project in the Americas. First Soroptimist Club in the Caribbean to host a Virtual Friendship Day, and First Trinidad Club, to be selected to represent SIGBI Federation at a Soroptimist International event. Although challenged by the social distancing guidelines of the pandemic, SI Esperance seemed to be everywhere - at Palmiste Park attending vigils and ‘oranging’ benches, on National Television Stations and on Radio (Wack Radio 90.1) in print media - Blogs (SI &SI GBI) and local newspapers, and even virtually presenting at the NGO CSW65 doing the work, choosing to challenge ourselves to keep advocating for women and girls through awareness and action. MEETINGS Over the period under review, there were ten business meetings, and five executive meetings. The minutes of those meetings were circulated electronically to members. There were no business meetings in April and December of 2020. Attendance at business meetings averaged sixteen persons or 61% of membership. The Club’s registered address remains 265 May Street, Palmiste and meetings, now virtual, are held the first Wednesday of each month. MEMBERSHIP We started the Club Year with twenty-four members and with the induction of three new members on April 16th, ended with twenty-seven. There was no change to the Executive. Our members are all dynamic women who each contribute to the Club, in her own unique way. Committees lending support to the Executive are the Finance Committee headed by the Treasurer, the Governance Committee headed by the Vice President, the Organization & Development Committee headed by the Organization & Development Officer and the Fundraising Committee headed by Gemma Casimir-Redman. The Finance Committee completed the Club’s Financial Policy, and the Membership Committee finalized a Membership Policy document. Our Governance Policy will be finalized early in the new Club Year. 17 | P a g e

SOROPTIMIST INTERNATIONAL ESPERANCE MEMBERSHIP & ORGANIZATION AND DEVELOPMENT REPORT 2020-2021 SI Esperance works to promote the Vision and Mission of Soroptimist International of Great Britain and Ireland. Our work is aligned to our original Development Plan with extensions of it. We align our work with that of National Association of Trinidad and Tobago SITT and that of Soroptimist International of the Caribbean Network (SICN). SI Esperance continues to be a dynamic Soroptimist Club. Our membership’s energy is born out of true team work, sincere supportive sisterhood, genuine love of service to women and girls and collective innovative ideas for programme action projects. Welcome to our new members who were inducted on April 16th 2021 The Membership subcommittee has drafted a Membership Policy which is relevant to the club at this time and by applying its tenets three new members were inducted this year. They are Amy Balchan, Candyce Labban and Trisha Dassrath. We welcome our young vibrant sisters with open arms. A Friendship Link with SI Surrey Hills in the UK is well underway with the relevant forms filled and soon to be submitted to SIGBI. SI Esperance’s programme action work has been seen on the daily newspapers, our Facebook page and other publications. SIGBI has recognised our unique projects and has highlighted us on their website. This is as a result of the relentless application to work of the Communications Committee. This positive visibility has attracted membership interest in our club and we encourage it. The Programme Action Committee has well defined subcommittees which involve different members in projects of their interest. Team work is strongly promoted in SI Esperance and it has become a signature trait in our way forward. Another policy which our club has developed is the Financial Policy to carefully guide our use of funds we collect through Fundraisers, Donations or Sponsorship. Forward Ever! SI Esperance. Membership / Organisation and Development Committee: Denyse, Rowena, Charmaine, Jayanti, Leah. 32 | P a g e

SOROPTIMIST INTERNATIONAL ESPERANCE FUNDRAISING REPORT 2020-2021 We welcomed the start of 2020 with hope and excitement, ready to action the fund raising projects identified in 2019: Golf, Marche Vert, Parang 5K Walk, Concert, Brunch. However, after the much celebrated Carnival 2020 we were faced with the reality of the Covid-19 pandemic. The effects of this virus and the uncertainties of what laid ahead crippled all activities for 2020. The Golf which was scheduled for March was postponed then finally cancelled as the country went into lock down and caused a severe blow to the economy. As expected we were unable to host any projects in 2020. However, at the end of 2020 hope was restored with the expectation of a vaccine in 2021. As a country we were able to manage the spread of the virus and on April 11th 2021 we were able to successfully host the Golf tournament at the Pointe –a- Pierre Golf Club. We had tremendous support and participation of some 30 teams. All protocols for Covid-19 were observed on the day of the event. The prize giving ceremony was held the following Friday as a drive by event. Ansa sponsored the first prize of TT$ 3000.00. Second prize received a Bushnell rangefinder and third, accommodation in a Tobago Villa including air fare. There were prizes for six other teams and special tokens for those nearest the pin. The feedback from the golfers was positive and as our first Golf tournament we were able to raise over fifty thousand dollars (TT$ 50,000.00). Golf will certainly be an annual project moving forward. 1TEAM ANSA We must give special mention to Denyse Ewe who was the Chair and lead for the project and team. She successfully used technology to plan and execute our first Golf Tournament. Thanks also to the club members for the support leading up to the big day, and for all those who were present for the actual execution of the event. We have started the second quarter of 2021 and based on the protocols allowed we will continue to forge ahead with our fundraising projects to improve the lives of women and girls in our communities. The world is changing and Virtual projects must also be considered. Once again thanks to our members, families and sponsors with whose support we continue to realise our purpose as Soroptimists. Respectfully Submitted, Gemma Casimir-Redman Fund Raising Chair 33 | P a g e
