Message C ompassion. Perseverance. Unity. These three are what I deemed crucial that I strongly believe we, educators must have as we confront the phantoms of our unseen enemy. Actions mirroring our compassion, perseverance, and unity have been evident in our efforts to carry out the essence of Bayanihan in our Brigada Eskwela in the “new normal”. I firmly believe that all we did and have been doing is for inclusive and profound endeavor in our pursuit to ascend from this challenging turning point in our history. Zulita I. Villones School Principal III PAGE 1 |

Message Brigada Eskwela this year has unceasingly become an avenue of reliving the bayanihan of Filipinos. Bayanihan has kindled even more during this trying time. When we less expect donors as we understand how this pandemic highlighted the global economic crisis, there has been an outpour of donations from all types of stakeholders. This, indeed, further proves that Filipinos always see a mean to give an extra hand to others even in times of great need. An innate impulse of people in the community to work with us hand in hand ignited in us the flame of inspiration to do even better for our common goal. On behalf of Limay National High School Brigada Eskwela Committees, we assure you that we are all working and will continuously work together on our pursuit of rising as a nation through the power of education. COMBATING THE UNSEEN ENEMY COVID PREVENTION AWARENESS To combat this global unseen enemy, right information, applicable knowledge, and strict discipline are our armor to remain steadfast in the real human battlefield we call life. Trying to surpass this global ordeal which affects our lives, we cannot underestimate the inestimable aftermath of strict compliance with the health protocols against Corona Virus Disease – 19 (CoViD-19). Having this in mind, the school Webinar Program Committee put the Precautionary Measures on CoViD-19 as its top priority topics in the school webinar series last July 14. Ms. Aple Nafuerza, a registered nurse, discussed the importance of frequent hand washing, alcohol and hand sanitizer application, proper hygiene, proper wearing and disposing of face mask to prevent the spreading of the virus. Also emphasized in the said webinar was the preparation of the school in carrying out the health protocols such as temperature monitoring, alcohol/sanitizer application, social distancing. Tamang kaalaman ay kailangan upang CoVid-19 ay malabanan at mapagtagumpayan sums up the said online discussion. PAGE 7 |

PFA: SUPPORTING, ENABLING, EMPOWERING OUR LEARNERS In just a snap, the world has suddenly changed. What we deem normal before is now called the old normal. No longer we could get too close in distance to a person we hold so dear. Gone are the days when we could greet each other through hugs and even a kiss on a cheek. Gone the effect of the theme of an advertisement which says: The closer, the better. IIn trying times like this when paranoia strikes hard due to fear of getting sick, of losing someone you love and not being able to see them and have funeral for their loss, losing a job and your means of living, what arises is the significant need for a good mental health. And so with this, that the school conducted a webinar last July 14 on Psychological First Aid (PFA) discussed by Mrs. Clarissa E. Advincula which equips an individual to cope better with challenges. An important activity to emphasize our advocacy to promote Mental Health Awareness. Understanding PFA and nurses and other teachers in ensuring that student survivors are given the psychosocial support they need in Being one of the countries vulnerable to the threat and impact of order for them to become resilient enabling them to better disasters, the need to develop programs for all types of susceptible bounce back into their role as a student and make our job groups and individuals had been seen. as an educator to be easier and more meaningful. THE GREEN GROWERS From blackboard and chalk to water and soil LIMAY NHS TEACHERS FOR THE GREEN Mr. Ody V. Lavarias (top picture) and Mrs. Rysy May G. Constantino (bottom) enjoy harvesting the fruits of their green thumbs. GULAYAN SA TAHANAN: DISCOVERING ITS GROUNDS The abrupt challenges and difficulties brought by the pademic have been intensified by the changes in our environment due to climate change -- another serious global concern that calls for immediate action. As educators and as role models in the community, some Limay NHS faculty have been planting vegetables in their own homes. There they discover and enjoy the understated benefits of home gardening. Growing your own vegetables at home surely ensures a good harvest free from chemicals. An advantage that keeps you one leap away from health risks of eating vegetables grown with commercial fertilizers. This will also fatten your pockets for the savings you will get compared if you will buy them from the market. PAGE 17 |

THE THERAPEUTIC EFFECTS According to \"Ready, Set, Bloom: The Therapeutic Effects of Gardening\" from the Williamsburg Landing website, experts on healthy aging say that growing and maintaining a garden can be highly advantageous to the mind, body and spirit. They say that many of these benefits accrue from the “innately positive response humans have to nature.” ,Gardening is also claimed as a key source of activity that can reduce the risks of obesity, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis, heart disease, stroke, depression, colon cancer and premature death. Since the lockdown, Ms. Constantino said that vegetable gardening has allow her to spend even more time with her family. Now that we feel the threats of global warming, this activity will surely be one of a simple yet crucial step to act on this environmenatl concern,\" said Mrs. Melva D. Borja, Science teacher. By doing this, we can encourage and influence the community tp do the same. In this quest, the more green lovers planting together, the greener and better this world would soon become. PAGE 18|

So, any support that I can extend, I will. Just like how the teachers have supported and nurtured me during my start at LHS. I’m simply paying it forward,” says Engr. Frederick Genese, alumnus of batch 2002.   As of press time, donations not just from alumni but also from parents, private individuals, and even teachers keep coming which strengthens our hope and faith that even in times of crisis due to pandemic concern for our fellowmen, love for humanity surmounts any difficulties. This is unexpected.
