Throughout thisguide we will call this computer your admin PC.The Viewer module allows you to store and manage your connections by grouping them into foldersand address books. In the screenshot above, a connection called “My remote PC” has been created inFolder 1 of the “General” address book. The Viewer has advanced built-in tools such as MSI Configurator, Remote Install and Update,Address Book Manager and Scan for Remote Hosts. Quick Start Guide Host The Host is installed on the remote PC to which you connect. In this guide we will call this computer the target PC. The Host icon is visible in the system tray on the target PC. You can access the Host settings if you right-click on the icon. By default, the Host starts automatically with Windows, but you can change this behavior in the Host settings. A run-only version of the Host, called Agent, can be used for ad hoc remote support. Unlike the Host, the Agent does not require installation and administrative privileges. While running on the target PC, the Agent displays a window with the ID and password that you can use to connect to this computer. Note that a remote session is only possible when the Agent is running – once the Agent window is closed, the remote session is terminated. If you need unattended access use the Host instead. On the target PC you can use either Host or Agent, but not both.4 © Remote Utilities LLC Tel/Fax: +1 855 945-3868 Email: [email protected] www.remoteutilities.com
