\"THE IMPORTANCE OF HAVING GODLY CHARACTERS IN NURSING PRACTICE\" Written By: Febri Laura Ferohnikha, Novenia Eunike Florence Tanod, and Yohana Diana Koanak.

GODLY CHARACTER ON NURSING PRACTICE A Godly character can be defined as the character that exemplifies Christ. According to White (2017), nursing is an ideal profession in the world of health to incorporate and show God's love by encouraging co-workers. Christian nurses can reflect Christ in their lives through their daily words and behaviors. This book will discuss the importance of Godly character for nurses in carrying out the nursing practice by looking at the views from the side of nurses and the patients.

Nurses have a responsibility to care for and NURSE help others (patients) go through the pain RESPONSIBILITIES process over a certain period. A nurse has a great responsibility because the duty of a nurse is related to the lives of others. In living the responsibility to care for patients, Nurses need to use nursing ethics as a guideline in carrying out their duties to respect the patient's self-esteem (Utami, Agustine, & Happy, 2016). Christian nurses can exemplify the Godly Character of Christ in terms of caring for and serving patients. Christian nurses have a great responsibility in giving loving service and fulfilling God's commandments (Matthew 22: 39). Being a nurse is very much heart work (Steele & Monroe, 2020).

Christian nurses need to perform caring for the patients through the service of nursing ethics and the Word of God which is a source for thinking about nursing practice. Nurses are required to be able to provide services professionally and lovingly so that patients can obtain Christ's peace in the heart and physical healing can occur.

The responsibility of nurses to patients is to PHYSICAL TREATMENT help the patient's recovery physically and BASED ON GODLY spiritually. CHARACTER BY NURSES As conveyed by White (2017), nurses are taught to give holistic care to patients. When providing physical care, Christian nurses need to see the patient as God's precious creation, that is the image of God and this is the first part of applying Godly Character. Nurses need to have an attitude of respect for patients regardless of their background so that through the care given, patients can feel comfortable.

The second is nurses can provide comprehensive and responsible care. When caring for patients, nurses must provide patient-centered care that is according to the patient's needs and conditions. Physical treatment includes the patient's basic needs such as vital signs examination to monitor the patient's clinical condition, monitoring the patient's nutrition, and monitoring the administration of drug therapy.

The third is nurses take care whole heartedly. In every nursing intervention, Christian nurses are not doing it by compulsion but wholeheartedly based on the love of Christ.

SPIRITUAL TREATMENT BASED ON Apart from physical GODLY CHARACTER BY NURSES care, there is also another focus that nurses need to care for spiritually. The simple thing that nurses can do in the first, gives the privilege of serving humans as if treating patients with the best possible care.

SPRITUAL TREATMENT BASED Second, respect Third, have a Fourth, caring ON GODLY CHARACTER BY every value and NURSES good relationship for the patient as dignity of the patient by with the patient's a whole as a respecting family as a form physical, mental whatever the patient believes of action that not and spiritual and views the only cares for form is value of life. patients but also something that those closest to must be balanced patients. in humans.

Then, the nurse can also fulfill the patient's spiritual needs by trying to wheel together in every action taken or pray for things that the patient struggles with because of praying, caring for the patient to keep surrender and be grateful for whatever conditions are helping.

SPRITUAL TREATMENT BASED ON In addition, nurses can try to meet patient needs GODLY CHARACTER BY NURSES such as providing a pastor or prayer, telling the schedule of worship at the hospital, and inviting patients to join a community of mutual encouragement. Therefore, in (Shelley & Miller, 2016) it is written that as a nurse, it is necessary to have concern by showing attention and support so that patients can feel the love given by nurses from the actions and words of a nurse.

CONCLUSION Based on the results of our discussion, it can be concluded that Godly character is an important thing to have by a nurse during the treatment of nursing care to the patient being treated. By displaying Godly character, nurses can fulfill their responsibilities to God and their fellow human beings and nurses can make patients feel comfortable in God's love through their actions so that patients can experience physical and spiritual recovery. Our advice to Christian nurses, in providing nursing care, nurses are expected to practice Godly character for patients.
