Everyemployerhasalegaldutytoprovideinformation,instructionand trainingtoemployees/operativesregardingtheriskstheyfaceintheir workplace.ToolboxTalkscanplayapartinsatisfyingthisdutyandwill promotethediscussionofsafetytopicsandprocedures.Theyshouldbe repeatedatregularintervalsandarecordmustbekeptofwhohas receivedthistraining.Trainingrecordsmayberequiredasproofatalater date. TheseToolboxTalksaddressthemostbasicpointsconcerningtopics, activitiesandlocationsthatarebeingcovered.Theyaredesignedtobe developedintoshorttalksof10to15minutesdurationwithoutrequiring specialistknowledgeonthepartofthespeaker.Thetalksshouldbe conciseandpunchy,inordertogetthemessageacross.Adelivery frequencyofmonthly/quarterlytalksissuggested,butitcanbeashorter timescaleifneeded. TheHealthandSafetyatWorkActplacesmanydutiesonemployersto complywiththerelevantsectionsoftheactandwithallsupporting legislationthereforeeveryemployerhasalegaldutytoprovide information,instructionandtrainingtoemployees/operativesregarding theriskstheyfaceintheirworkplace.ToolboxTalkscanplayapartin satisfyingthisdutyandwillpromotethediscussionofsafetytopicsand procedures.
