REPRESENTATION Shaping the future of your industry BESA has been helping to shape the building engineering services industry for over a century now. We have been driving progress on the key issues that affect our members, staying on top of consultations through regular contact with Ministers, MPs and civil servants, making sure that our sector’s needs, concerns and voice is heard by government. Over that century our industry has changed, our membership has evolved and the policy areas that we focus on are changing accordingly. Earlier this year, BESA worked with Government to launch the landmark payment performance reporting requirements allowing transparency to shine into good and bad business practices – we also started working on the first standard for Indoor Air Quality, to coincide with the UK’s first official Clean Air Day, and continue to develop greener and more sustainable standards for our industry. Next year we will be celebrating 100 years of women having the right to vote and we will soon be launching a new campaign to champion diversity in our sector. We are growing our diversity policies to create greater awareness of the business case for diversity, but will continue to focus on youth employment, ageing workforces, LGBT workers, disability in the workplace and minority representation in our sector. statements will be updated to reflect recent developments We are working together with key technology players and and some will be completely new, keeping our sector government to lead, drive and guide digital transformation on innovative and at the forefront of the industry. productivity & payment, procurement, Design for Manufactured Assembly (DfMA), BIM, augmented reality, drones and smart As we continue in these somewhat uncertain political cities.
