Having made our home for more than 58 years at Michael A. Ries Ice Rink in Parma Ohio, we are a non-profit Club. Forestwood Figure Skating Club of Parma connects young skaters with goal-oriented coaching. Our Basic Skills sessions prepare each student for fun competition, shows and exhibitions. Once beginners pick up the fundamentals in our Learn to Skate program, they can move on to private instruction with the club’s Home Club Professionals, and Associate Club Professionals, which combines for more than 50 years of experience. Club sessions afford access to USFSA sanctioned events such as advanced level competition, testing, shows, exhibitions and private ice time on a rink uncluttered by fellow skaters or rush hour zamboni traffic. Forestwood Skating Club of Parma is sanctioned and certified by the U.S. Figure Skating Association, the governing body that oversees testing and competitions for all Olympic hopefuls. Our Mission Statement: “Our vision is to nurture our skaters in reaching their optimal potential and personal skating goals through a club that values their dreams, self confidence, and abilities to the fullest.  Additionally, we strive to instill and maintain the love of figure skating and positive sportsmanship in our skaters, parents, and coaches”. Emily Cole C O N G R AT U L AT I O N S Emily Cole has been a member of the 2022 Forestwood Figure Skating Club for the past eight years, and she has loved every second of it, from her very first ice show (Spinning Back in Time) to her last (Hollywood!). SENIOR SKATER Emily has also been a member of the Padua Franciscan High School Figure Skating Team for the past six years, where she has portrayed numerous roles like Voldemort from Harry Potter, and Donna from Mamma Mia. In February, as captain for Padua’s team, she helped lead them to their 10th State Title with their Mamma Mia number. Emily will never forget that moment when they announced Padua won yet again. Other favorite skating memories of Emily’s include landing her axel for the first time, and skating the Michael Jackson routine at the Monsters Game. Emily will be attending the University of Cincinnati in the fall, and majoring in Psychology with a Pre-Law track of interest. She hopes to become a district attorney and have a dog named Theodore later in life. Emily would like to thank her family for supporting her every step of the way, her coach GraceAnn for always pushing her to strive for greatness, her friend Mailie for being by her side since swim lessons, her friend Kaelynn, and her boyfriend Cam for everything he has done for her. She also wants to thank her teammates at Padua for their positivity and laughs. Lastly, Emily would like to thank her parents for always sitting in the stands for every sports event- even when she rode the bench in lacrosse. She is grateful for everything her parents have done for her over these past 18 years and for being her rock and biggest fans. Mailie Galgas C O N G R AT U L AT I O N S When you have parents who skated and 2022 played hockey who are now coaches, you SENIOR SKATER start skating when you can walk. I have accomplished a lot over the years and still have plenty to do. I recently added Dance to my skating resume and have tested several new dances. Some of my favorite memories from skating are skating at the Monsters games and competing at Showcase Nationals in California and Michigan. I also had the opportunity to skate for the Padua Skating team for 2 years with my final year winning a High School Championship. And the numerous friendships I’ve made over the seasons. In addition to skating, I was on the swim team for Normandy for the last 4 years and this past season I was a Captain. I also participated on the track team and was a Dazzler (flag group) for 2 years. After high school my plans are to attend Cleveland State University and pursue a career in nursing. I would like to take this opportunity to thank my parents for introducing me to the ice and being my biggest supporters. 2019C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S I would also like to thank my coach, GraceAnn. She’s SENIOR SKATER been with me from the start and I’m very appreciative for all her hard work and life lessons she has taught me. Thank you!! 2019C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S SENIOR SKATER

Ava Moreal C O N G R AT U L AT I O N S My love for skating began at the age of three when I 2022 first stepped onto the ice. It came naturally to me as SENIOR SKATER I was following in my mother’s footsteps, who was born and raised in western Canada where skating is the way of life. From there, I entered and quickly progressed through the learn to skate program, and it was not long before my family and I knew figure skating was meant for me. From that moment on, the ice has always been where I have felt most like myself and has made me into the person I am today. Over the past 16 years in figure skating, I have experienced some of the best moments and accomplishments of my life. I entered the competitive side of figure skating at five years old and have been a club member of Strongsville Skating Club since 2009 and an associate member of Forestwood Skating Club since 2015. With the encouragement and help of my coaches Kelly Lynch and Stacey Stachowicz, I have been able to accomplish three gold medals in the titles of Moves 2019C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S in the Field, Solo Pattern Dance, and Solo Free Dance. I was also able to compete at the local, regional, and national levels and have been able to participate in countless shows and exhibitions. Furthermore, I was a member of the Ice Theater of Cleveland and attended Theater on Ice Nationals for four consecutive years. SENIOR SKATER In addition, I became a coach for the learn to skate program at Forestwood in 2019. Most recently, I have been awarded the Gold Level distinction for graduating seniors by the United States Figure Skating Association. However, most importantly, over the last 16 years, I have met some of the best people and created long- lasting friendships that I will cherish for the rest of my life. In the next chapter in my life, I am planning to study Business on a Pre-Law track and hope to continue coaching learn to skate wherever I decide to go to college. 2019C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S I would like to thank my coaches for always believing in me, pushing me, and helping me find success on and off SENIOR SKATER the ice. Finally, to my loving parents and family, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your endless support and for allowing me to do what I love all these years. I truly would not be the person I am today without my family, coaches, and friends, and I will forever be grateful for being able to grow up in such a beautiful sport.
