The best part!! The inside passage winds its way through the Wilderness of the 17 million acre Tongass National Forest providing the perfect setting for your adventure. A short 2 ½ hour flight from Seattle with Alaska Airlines, Sitka is our home base and the jump off point for most of our trips. The abundant wildlife and water teaming with fish have been bringing people to Sitka for thousands of years. First a native village, then the Russian American capitol, and for a while the United States Territorial capitol. Sitka has a rich history which is celebrated by museums and historical sights. While you are in town

there is plenty to keep you busy, numerous hiking trails, the Fortress of the Bear, the Alaska Raptor Center and the Sitka Sound Science center are always popular with nature lovers. You can also rent bicycles or kayaks, take an ATV tour, play a round of golf or visit one of many art and gift shops and high quality restaurants. “Sitka by the Sea” once known as “The Paris of the Pacific” where jagged snow capped peaks meet the crashing surf is truly one of the most beautiful places on earth and many of our clients add a few days on to their trip to enjoy some of the sights and activities around town.

Island Black Bear The rich salmon runs and extensive sedge flats found along the coast have produced a black bear population that is unmatched anywhere in North America in numbers or size. Safari Club International recently recognized a new class of black bear in this region to reflect the size of these coastal bears. The “Island” bears our hunters take usually square 6 1/2’-7 1/2’ with a few approaching 8’. All of our bears are black in color with no color phases. Hair quality is excellent in this northern climate. Our black bear hunts are 7-10 days long at a ratio of 2 clients per guide. In the spring most of our hunting is done by glassing the beaches and going ashore only when we see a potential trophy. In the fall we hunt the salmon streams where the bears are feeding. Hunt Dates April 21-27 June 3-9 June 10-16 September 1-10

Coastal Brown Bear The great Alaska Brown Bear....powerful, intelligent and potentially dangerous. The brown bear represents the pinnacle of North American hunting. Few experiences can compare to the intense excitement of stalking one of the worlds largest predators. The “ABC” islands of Southeast Alaska are home to the worlds highest concentration of brown bears. The high population and our ability to access the wilderness by boat has earned the area a reputation for world class bear hunts that are second to none. Our brown bear hunts are 10-12 days long at a ratio of 1 client per guide. We spend our time glassing the beaches and tide flats in the spring and walk up the salmon streams in the fall. Both seasons have their advantages, call us to talk about the differences. Hunt Dates April 28-May 9 May 11-20 May 22-31 September 15-24

Sightseeing If fishing isn’t a priority or you just want more time for all of the other available activities you should consider a summer sightseeing trip. This is a great family vacation since there is something for everybody. A 5 day trip includes all of the activities listed in the fishing section including stops at one or more of the natural hot-springs. We can stretch the trip to 6 days which allows us to add on a few more options. We can visit the Native village of Kake for some awesome black bear viewing. Take the boat into the fjords of the mainland and steer past icebergs up to the face of a glacier. On the 6 day trip we will start in Sitka and end in Juneau which is also a great destination with it’s own sights to see. If you have something else in mind give us a call to talk about the options.

Saltwater Fishing Fish for salmon, halibut, rockfish and lingcod all from the comfort of the Huntress. The Sitka area is statistically the best place in Alaska for combo fishing and the Huntress is the perfect way to get away from the crowds. We are set up to troll, jig or mooch depending on the conditions. All of our fishing is fully guided and includes top quality rods, reels, tackle, raingear, boots, waders, WHY NOT

Freshwater Fishing Spinning gear or flies, we give you everything you need and put you on the fish. Steelhead, cutthroats, sockeye, pinks, chums, silvers and dollies are all available. Our 5 day summer trips combine freshwater fishing, saltwater fishing, sightseeing, hiking, bear viewing, beach-combing, hot- springs, whale watching, crabbing, shrimping and just about anything else. It’s your vacation, what do you want to do? DO BOTH?

Cast & Blast Do you love stream fishing? Jumping, flipping, tail-walking and lightning fast runs qualify silvers as the most acrobatic of the salmon species. Catching silvers on a fly or spinner in the river is arguably the most fun you can have with a fishing rod and they taste excellent to boot. Do you love duck hunting? We have a variety of sea ducks and puddle ducks. We commonly take Harlequin, Barrows Goldeneye, Surf and White-wing Scoter, Bufflehead, Common and Red-breasted Merganser, Mallards, Canadian geese and a variety of incidentals. Every trip is customized to the group. If you want to concentrate more on one activity than the other it’s entirely up to you. Each day we move the boat to a new area. A new river to fish and a new bay to hunt. Our 5 day cast & blast trips run from late September through late October.

Bucks and Ducks We hunt Sitka Black Tail deer on Baranof and Chichigof islands where the lush rainforest, generally mild winters, and a lack of wolves combine to produce the highest population density in the world. Our 6 day boat based hunts take place in November and early December. The rut peaks in early November and the bucks at this time respond well to the call. Quite often these earlier hunts require a lot of hiking as the bigger bucks are usually still filtering down out of the high country. As November passes the rut slows but the weather usually moves the deer down to the beach where we can spot them from the water requiring much less physical exertion. Sea duck hunting is a great way to spend those days when the weather keeps the deer bedded. The ducks are fully plumed at this time of year and make great mounts.

The M/V Huntress The Huntress is a 60’ fiberglass yacht built to travel the wilderness of Southeast Alaska in comfort and style. The spacious wheelhouse with 360˚ views and open front deck are perfect for relaxing and taking in the amazing scenery. One “master” queen suite with a private bath, 4-2 bunk staterooms and 2 shared bathrooms. Ample room for up to 6 guests and our normal crew of 3. A full galley gives our cook room to create amazing meals. The open fishing deck, stabilizer poles and built in blast freezer make the boat ideal for ocean fishing.
