Opus Entertainment Limited, The Lawn, Ealing Green, London, W5 5ER 07747 442045 Opus Entertainment is a TV and Film production company with offices alongside Ealing Studios. Established by Mark Cornwell and David Evans, the company has been involved in a number of film and TV projects where the principals have been Executive Producer or Producer. This proposal is from a Group of experienced and creative film industry people who have come together under the umbrella of “Opus Entertainment Limited”. The company was established in January 2017 and its directors and staff have significant experience and contacts. We hold rights to, or options on, a slate of projects, including features, TV series and documentaries, with projects in advanced stages of development and we are looking for the involvement of a significant TV Production Company to help with the completion and broadcast of several feature series. Opus currently has a slate of films for which we have the rights or an option and we are looking for co-production partners at terms to be agreed. FILM SLATE 2020 (in no particular order) 1: “COMPULSIVE” Feature: A neo film noire (in the vain of Hitchcock & Howard Hawks) Status: Ready to start prep COMPULSIVE is a family drama, a metaphor which illustrates the fragmentation of the nuclear family and family values. Even though it takes place in the middle of the 20th Century, it is a story of the present day – depicting how a materialistic world and political ideals are destroying the very core of our society. It’s a tale about the sentiment of loss, loneliness and, as a consequence of that, how we use and abuse each other, how we devour one another. Writer/Director: Eduardo Baretto Cast Confirmed: Sam Gittins, Hannah Arterton, Christina Cole, Juliet Aubrey Production Designer/Costumier: Belle Mundi DoP: J.P. Caldeano Sound Designer: Alex Joseph. Breakdowns, Shooting Schedule, Set and Costume Designs all completed. 4/5 weeks Prep, 4 week shoot, 12 weeks post max. Budget: Total: £1.3 million After deferments & Participation £1 million. Funding offered and under discussion Applied for the BFI Interim Certificate for the 25% UK Tax Credit. Applied for funding from Portuguese government film incentive scheme. 2: “THE ASSASSINATION DIARIES” Series 1: “THE BISHOP” Six episodes Action/Drama TV Series Adapted from the book of the same name, first of eight, each of six parts. Other Diaries include:  The Oligarch  The Dictator  The Manderin  The General  The Judges I  The Judges II  The Judges III Logline: Purported to be the true diaries of a female assassin in the employ of an enigmatic global quasi-governmental organisation. Status: First two episodes scripted, lead cast and director attached Detailed treatment for the whole first season also available. Director: Chris Nahon (Provisional) Lead Actress: Gabriella Wright (Recently completed 'The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard', starring alongside Ryan Reynolds, Salma Hayek, Samuel L Jackson, Morgan Freeman and Antonio Banderas.) Development Funds required to finish scripts and secure full cast and crew. Work would commence immediately. Maximum three months to complete all scripts for the first season. Some pre- production will be undertaken during this phase. Budget: £600,000 per episode. Would qualify for the UK 25% Tax Credit N.B. As a marketing aid the books will be relaunched in order. 3: “WARTIME WANDERERS” Action/Buddy/Love 10 part TV series WW2 Drama Based on a True Story “The Most Amazing True War Story Never Told.” The true story of the then Celebrity 1939 Bolton Wanderers football team that all signed up for the Royal Artillery and fought through the six years of war in France, North Africa, the Middle East and throughout Italy. Although involved in many major battles and as the rearguard at Dunkirk only one did not survive to return to life in Bolton. As well as fierce battle action and some football we also see the relationships develop between them and in their families back home as well as the team being rebuilt around a 15 year old who hero worshipped the players and who becomes one of England's greatest ever players - Nat Lofthouse. Adapted from the book of the same title by Tim Purcell and Mike Gething that the Independent newspaper had as their book of the week when first published. The authors now have the publishing rights and a new version will be available to coincide with the TV broadcast. Status: Full treatment and first episode script available. (Feature film script also available). Many well-known cast attached. A huge amount of research already undertaken to secure locations, military equipment, (with the assistance of the British Army at Salisbury Plain), period costumes, props and music. Development Funds are needed to finalise scripts and secure cast and series directors. Maximum 20 weeks to finalise the script, during which time some pre-production will commence. Budget: £1 million per episode. BFI Interim Certificate for the UK 25% Tax Credit We have access to a network of smaller private investors who would contribute. Eric Muller, Sales Agent, has spoken to several companies, including Endeavour Content and Gaumont who have expressed interest to participate as co-producers. The Wartime Wanderers Feature Series will be supported by: “THE Team That Went To War” TV Documentary 3 x 55 or 1 x 90 minute episodes Synopsis: Documentary telling the actual story of the real people who were the “Wartime Wanderers” . The team, unit, families and friends with significant archive film and radio material, face-to- camera interviews, re-enactment and a well-known narrator. 4: “A SILENT COUP” A Truth Based Conspiracy Drama 10 Part TV Series Adapted from the book of the same title published February 2020 by Next Century Books. Logline: Jessie is a barrister, a Ghanaian, an Ashanti Chief, whose father was killed during the Rawlings coup of June 4, 1979. His desire for revenge sets him on a course that sees him lured into unscrupulous global business, political intrigue, coups and counter-coups, as he travels throughout the West Coast of Africa, Europe and the USA accumulating a fighting fund and international allies. Status: Detailed treatment and feature length pilot episode script available. Budget: £600,000 - £750,000 per episode. Would qualify for the UK 25% Tax Credit. 5: “PARADISE RETREAT” Soap opera/serial Set in & filmed in Mauritius We have finished scripts for all six episodes for the pilot season. “Paradise Retreat” centres on telling multi-connecting stories and interweaving characters from all backgrounds. Our desire to make this serial comes from the need to showcase the island's multi-diverse cultures and customs, and how the struggles and challenges within this are no different from any other culture. This is a core feature which will resonate with a large audience across the world. Mauritius itself is not only a gorgeous landscape that our series is set in, but it is very much an integral main character that allows us and the viewer to explore an unexplored world. We aim to keep loyal to the identity of Mauritius, from it's beautiful beaches, growing expat businesses and tourist attractions to the reality of lifestyles lived by people from all backgrounds; the socio- economic struggles, and the very traditional conservative world view. This series will present an honest look at a small paradise island with a rainbow society. It's a Soap in Paradise! 6: “MULTI-STOREY” Comedy Feature Film Logline: A film for anyone who has ever made an insurance claim....OR tried to! Status: Scripted, ready to cast and start pre-production Director: Nadia Tass – attached Writer: Tim Purcell Australian co-producer: Stuart Scowcroft – Intomedia. Stunt Co-ordinator: Jason White (www.jasonwhitestunts.com) with a prepared stunt breakdown and budget). 1st AD – Edward Brett Shooting schedule complete Development funds will secure cast. Budget: £7.5 million.  If we shoot in Melbourne we could get up to 40% in tax credits, cash rebates and state funding.  If we shoot in the UK, it would be York, and we have already had talks with Screen Yorkshire. 7: PETRFIED DOLLAR Comedy 4 Part TV Series LOGLINE: America calls in all national debts from foreign countries triggering the dreaded domino effect plunging the world into an unprecedented economic crisis. Status: Fully scripted, ready to cast and start preproduction. Writers: Roger Samuels & Tim Purcell Original story: Roger Samuels Budget: Estimate: £600,000 – £750,000 per episode Although predominantly set in the USA, it could be shot largely in a UK studio, in which case it would qualify for the UK 25% Tax Credit. 8: FLINDERS, Uncharted Waters True Historical Drama Feature Film Logline: Matthew Flinders was just 26 years old when the British Admiralty gave him command of “The Investigator” and a commission to chart the new territories in the South Pacific that had been explored 30 years earlier by Captain James Cook. Having successfully circumnavigated Australia, and given the country its name, his return to England was interrupted by his 7 year detention in Mauritius as a spy during the Napoleonic Wars. This unwarranted act was to all but erase Captain Matthew Flinders from British history. Status: Ready to secure director, cast and commence preproduction. Director: David Whitney provisionally attached, subject to funders approval. 9: “THE LONG MARCH” True Historical Drama Feature Film BASED ON THE TRUE STORY A story narrated by the principal female character in the film, starting on her deathbed but moving to her voice as a younger woman. The film is designed with a limited amount of screen shot narrative and increasing the voice-over will make the production of the film in both Mandarin and English - which we think is essential - less costly. “The Long March” is the story of the 1934/5 military march undertaken by the Red Army of the Communist Party of China to evade the pursuit of the Kuomintang army. Budget: £10 million Genre: Action/Love story Stage: Scripted, scouted, now Legal and then Financing agreements Tagline: “The fight for love and freedom” Synopsis: A human story set against the background of the Chinese Red Army's long march in 1934/5. We have an option on John Hay directing and co-writing with Rik Carmichael based on an original script by Tim Purcell and General Lei Pingfen* based on the book - “Women of the Long March” by Lily Xiao Hong Lee & Sue Wiles. * Who was on The Long March. The Long March Documentary Supporting documentary to 'Red Rain' based on the original Tim Purcell script for the film which was a more historically accurate story of The Long March together with the “Women of the Long March” book. Patrick Fleming is proposed as director. The Making of “The Long March “ A Chinese director and a Chinese co-production company have been identified and approached. 10: “THE MAESTRO OF EALING - KELVILLE ERNEST IRVING” Feature Documentary Ernest Irving (1873-1953) was an English music director, conductor and composer, primarily remembered as a theatre musician in London between the wars and for his key contributions to British film music as music director at Ealing Studios from the 1930s to the 1950s. Ralph Vaughan Williams dedicated his Sinfonia Antartica (1953) to him and Irving's achievements earned him the rarely awarded honorary membership of the Royal Philharmonic Society in 1951. William Walton's second string quartet in A minor was also dedicated to him. We will also aim to achieve a Night at The Proms in 2021 dedicated to Irving's music, at which the original film clips will also be shown alongside the music.
