Beautiful one Apartment 301, Level 2, day - perfect Building G13, Jebel Sifah, the next….. As Sifah, Muscat, Sultanate of Oman

Apartment 301 WELCOME! From David and Fery Some hints, tips and advice to help you settle in Welcome to our apartment in beautiful Jebel Sifah, one of Oman’s most luxurious and well-appointed holiday destinations. We would like you to enjoy your stay and make the most of the amenities while you are here. Inside the apartment You will find everything you need to make your stay comfortable and relaxing. We are a private couple who use our apartment from time to time and let others share it when we are not in Jebel Sifah. It is not a hotel apartment so do not expect the kinds of onside services you would expect from a hotel apartment. You will find plenty of towels and other personal amenities for your stay. What you can expect is for it to feel more like a home. At least we hope so! Finding out what is where….

Most of our guests find that everything they need is in the obvious place that they would expect to find them in their own home. Cutlery and plates are in the white cabinet shown here, along with plates and other china. In the kitchen you will find cooking utensils as well as other useful items such as a chopping board and cook’s knives etc. and a wide range of saucepans, bowls and measuring utensils should you need them. In the cupboard above the oven there are a range of spices that we use for cooking when we are here. Feel free to use them in your own recipes. Most of the popular herbs and spices are there along with salt and pepper of course. The refrigerator carries a stock of water and long life milk and in the kitchen you will find tea and coffee, a toaster and an electric griddle if you need it. Dishwasher Switch dishwasher on (Left Hand Button) and select 30 mins button on far right. Insert washer tablets from under the sink and close the door. It will automatically open on conclusion of the washing cycle. A word about switches and electric controls (!) Most of these are as you would expect in a modern apartment but there are a few ‘local’ additions worth mentioning here.

A/C controls are in each main room. It is very efficient and can cool, pump just air and can be set to ‘Auto’ to maintain a certain temperature. We usually have it set about 22C and on either ‘Cool’ or ‘Fan’ - select the ‘Mode’ function to change these as required - then ‘OK’ - bottom right. When the A/C panel is switched off just tap lightly with two fingers to turn it on. KINDLY NOTE: Some switches are for services such as hot water. They are single switches and have a red light when the hot water heating is ‘On’ Other SINGLE switches operate power to fridge freezer and oven etc. - and must be left switched DOWN please or these appliances will not work for you. Washing Machine Use the on/off button to turn the Washing Machine on. Use the circular dial to select the preferred cycle. We find that the 30 mins one is more than adequate for the usual wash and can carry up to 3 kg of clothes. Wi-Fi Connection The main router is called ‘Flat 5 2G’ and is accessible by using the following password: 29184898 There is another router in Bedroom 2 as sometimes the signal is week. If you use a PC in this room you can access router ‘Niyousha’ using the Password Niyousha. Most of the time you will find that the main router connection works fine with handheld devices, no problem. Television

This is set to enable access a number regional and local channels. There is not much else available here. We use Chromecast to access news etc. and cast our handhelds to the TV screen. There is a Chromecast dongle behind the TV. It needs to be connected to HDMI socket - to replace the TV connection that is already plugged in. Then make sure the Chromecast dongle is plugged in to the power bank. Barbeque Area…. This area is outside opposite the apartment and you can see it from the balcony. Everything is provided apart from the coals so we have left a bag for your use. At night it is well lit and there is plenty of room for everyone. Shopping There is a Spar shop a short walk away to the right hand side of the harbour as you face out to see. Opening times are 8-13.00 and 16.00 - 22.00. Most staple requirements can be found at this convenience store from Eggs and butter through to snacks, confectionary, water and soft drinks as well as dry groceries. Pool The main pool is a welcome retreat from the heat of the day and is well lit at night. It is deep enough for the serious swimmer but not so deep to be frightening! The pool is chilled in summer and warmed in winter although the winters rarely get below 25-27C during the day the pool can cool down at night hence the temperature is maintained at a nice temperature. Other pools are shallower and mainly for kids or a paddle if you prefer.

Bars and Restaurants There are a number of places to dine out - or relax and get a drink. The Breeze is a Sports Bar with nicely appointed seating and views across the harbour. Happy hour at the time of writing this is 6pm-8pm. The Bank Beach Club is a place to relax and have a snack during the day - or a meal in the evening along with drinks and entertainment. It is very popular with guests and locals alike. There is also an infinity style pool with great views, a small beach and they have a beachside BBQ some weekends. The music can be very loud sometimes…...so if you want peace and quiet on a Friday night be warned it is often packed and very noisy….. But quieter other evenings and during the day. Water sports, trips etc. These can be booked at the shop on the left hand side of the harbour area looking out to sea. Fishing trips can be arranged with Chris - a friendly South African guy who lives here - just ask anyone for Chris! If you fancy a change of scenery for a day take a ferry to the next harbour halfway between Jebel Sifah and Muscat.

Jebel Sifah itself has its own security. This includes many Closed Circuit Security Cameras and physical surveillance (walk around by guards every night). So apart from the normal security provisions for your personal belonging whilst out and enjoying yourself you have very little to worry about. The pool areas do not have lifeguards so please ensure that you are fully aware of basic water safety procedures and supervise children at all times. Local Customs and Culture If you do not live in the GCC region and are unfamiliar with local habits and customs take time to do a bit of research. Basics like politeness at all times, modest dress, no public displays of affection are the norm here. Alcohol is served in many places and whilst it is not illegal to consume alcohol, being drunk in public is severely frowned upon as is any kind of antisocial behavior or rudeness of any kind.
