From the Principal’s Desk Charles Darwin famously said, “It is not the strongest of the species that survives, not the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is the most adaptable to change.” Never was this truer than in the present era. However, if one thinks of it, this statement has been true through the ages and has been the guiding principle through which we all have 'evolved'. I use the word evolved in its general sense as dealing with change rather than with evolu on. Educa on has gone through its own changes and over the years we have moved from literacy to educa on. We have moved from facts to applica on. We have moved from students being imparted knowledge by the teacher to the student being an ac ve par cipant in the process. We have moved from knowledge­based outcome of educa on to skill­based outcome. This shi has happened gradually but starkly. It has partly been a response to modern needs and innova ons; and partly due to technological advances. The one quality that has changed in today's students as opposed to those from the last century is their level of confidence. There is far greater confidence in conver ng knowledge into ideas which is a major no ceable shi . The students, these days, directly deal with the ideas that they extract from knowledge. They have understood the very essence of life that knowledge is universal and is accessible to everyone without any bias. To stand out, one needs to mould out an innova ve idea from the knowledge gained. This is what will make the difference. This paradigm shi has enhanced the confidence of the learner and made them comfortable in working with their own ideas as well as those of others. Cambridge Board lists this as one of its five a ributes, which their curriculum develops. Along with the development of confidence in working with ideas comes the willingness to take intellectual risks as well as skills of explora on, cri cal thinking, analysis and that of evalua on of all aspects in a balanced manner. We, at Bodhi Interna onal School ac vely propagate the same and enhance it star ng with the Student Agency at PYP and leading up to the young adult who leaves the school to enter university life post the A level examina on. From the Mathematics HOD’s Desk As the crest of the peacock and the gem on the head of a snake, Mathema cs is the paragon of all knowledge. It is no wonder that there exists no branch of science which is devoid of Mathema cs. That is why Carl Friedrich Gauss rightly said, “Mathema cs is the queen of all sciences.” \"Teaching virtually was a lot more work than actually teaching in class.\" I feel most of the children learn be er and benefit more when they're in the classroom. The benefits of social interac on and learning with peers are unparalleled and when it comes to Mathema cs, learning happens with more interac on and ac vi es. During my tenure of one Year at BIS, I personally felt that the students are embracing the importance of Mathema cs not only from the course standpoint but also in terms of its applica on in the real world. Their keen interest in the subject was reflected from the Board result of Secondary and Senior Secondary students. It's a lot harder to be the same person on a computer screen when there is no opportunity to have one­on­one conversa ons. It is tougher when the students feel disinterested in the virtual environment as compared to face­to­face sessions. There is no denying the fact that teaching is not always interes ng when taught virtually but it is heartening to see teachers trying their best to employ innova ve strategies, resources and approaches to benefit the students. Of course, when it comes to Mathema cs where learning is more interes ng with ac vi es and prac cal applica on, the teachers have taken up the challenge to make math exci ng by preparing videos, presenta ons and quizzes to ini ate the classroom environment in virtual teaching. Equal par cipa on by the students with deep interest in the subject is seen through their par cipa on in Interhouse math quiz, model explana on etc. which is commendable. It is my earnest request that the teachers, students, and parents hold hands to help students deliver the desired results in spite of the challenging circumstances. Will this mode of online learning stand the test of me? Let's wait and watch. Till then, the en re teaching fraternity con nues to take the courageous leap forward and empower the children to be prepared for an uncertain future. CCA ACTIVITIES Cook­Along Workshop ­ Indian School of Hospitality conducted a Gourmet Culinary Cook­Along Session with Chef Babu Nagarajan (Assistant Director, Culinary & Prac cal Arts) on 9th October at 12 pm. Our students cooked along “Spinach & Rico a Crespelloni” and enjoyed it thoroughly. Priyanshi Dhariwal, a Student of Grade 12, shared her experience: “It was one of the most interes ng workshops I have ever a ended. Step‐wise cooking procedure was explained methodically which provided the budding chefs, including me, the opportunity to learn and develop skills. The unique dish was Spinach and Rico a Crespelloni. Honestly, I never imagined crepes to be served like this. It was a very frui ul session to a end.” Career Session on Hospitality Business ­ Indian School of Hospitality (ISH) conducted a career session for grades 11 and 12 where the students were briefed about the various career possibilities in hospitality industry and the courses that ISH offers viz; B.A (Hons.) in Culinary and BBA in Hospitality on 19th October between 2:30 to 3:30 pm. This interactive session was a good source of information for our students who got to know the versatility BBA Hospitality provides to a student's profile and the fact that it does not limit them to only Hotel Industry.

CCA ACTIVITIES Learning Wheel Workshop ­ Learning Wheel provides services such as people management, training & development, content design, and facilita on of on­ground experiences. They intend to wheel the scholars of today towards excellence through real learning. With the idea to develop 21st century skills like communica on, collabora on, crea vity and cri cal thinking, we collaborated with Learning Wheel yet again and organized a workshop on Public Speaking covering concepts like extempore, elevator pitches, interview prepara ons and group discussions for grades 6 to 11. The workshop was conducted by Ms Arushi Jain, Ms Rashika Bhardwaj (Founder & Co­facilitator) and Mr Siddarth Sachdev (Main Facilitator). Mrs. Khushboo Bali, CCA Coordinator and Career Counselor steered the event flawlessly on 26th October from 2:30 onwards.

Teachers’ Achievements THE HIGH FLYER Bodhi congratulates its cherished staff member, Mrs Sreela Suji Kumar for a thought­provoking webinar where she suggested ways for the smooth transi on from ‘New Normal’ to ‘Normal’. Her sincere delivery, talent and insight in the field are noteworthy. We wish her all the best and hope she con nues to be the posi ve influence for everyone on the team with her hard work and dedica on. \"When the going gets tough, the tough get going” ­ Rightly said by our ancestors. Amidst the chaos of uncertainty, ambiguity and increasing complexities, it's our duty as educators to endorse a 'get going' culture in our learners. The time demands us to be agile without blaming the circumstances. Student Corner 'Colour Strokes’ Art can speak things that can't always be said with words. Bodhi International School thanks Vibhuti Agarwal, an AS level student for creating an art that is so relevant in these challenging times and presenting it with an open heart. It is invigorating to see her balancing her time with studies and doing something that brings her joy. He passion will be an inspiration to other students too. The monk represents the pandemic Covid­19; and the leaves represent the control the epidemic has on human species. The situation of the monk wearing a mask suggests that this virus has not only affected the rich or the poor but the entire population. The monk joins his hands and prays for the end of the pandemic, so that the human species can live in peace again. The library in the shape of the books, one being “The Little Prince” showcases the techno­equipped architecture. This generative design fascinates the book lovers and invites them to explore the trendy structure. The multicoloured unicorn represents the creativity of human mind; the out of the box thinking of a mythical animal in a variety of colours. This implies the positivity of thought and confidence.
