FROM PRINCIPAL’S DESK Dear Bodhian Parents, staff and students There were myriad and mul farious responses from educa onal ins tu ons to the coronavirus pandemic situa on that caused the unprecedented lockdown of the world. Those ins tu ons with a history of incorpora ng elearning, those schools with their students and educators having access to connec vity and devices and those schools with a team of teachers who were trained in the use of online teaching, con nued to teach online with least interrup on. It was a “weather the storm” situa on for the massive majority. They simply have done their best they can, under such unexpected situa ons. But the good thing is that most educators, in spite of the ini al hiccups, have incredibly mastered the cra of online teaching; of course, those who with the privilege of having connec vity and devices. Fortunately, Bodhi Interna onal school happened to be in the first category; our online migra on was almost seamless; we were able to gain momentum within no me. Our teachers and students soon started experimen ng more and more innova ve approaches on online teaching, learning and assessment. We introduced dance, music, art and physical fitness online; we introduced online tests by using google classroom and Zoom simultaneously; we also introduced virtual par es and celebra ons online. Students were encouraged to do research, reflec on and redesign on adlibbing, improvisa on and innova on. Many of them were incredibly mo vated to use resources from within their vicinity and came up with ideas that they usually do not come up with in a usual school situa on. They get hands on experience in life skills, learn new skill sets, design unique ou its, engage in making handmade papers, experiment in cooking and baking …., all by innova ve improvisa on. Yes, there is no lockdown on educa on. It is clear now. What we thought temporary ini ally is no more temporary. There is no cure or vaccine for Coronavirus yet. We may con nue to work within the same precincts or will con nue with more and more restric ons even if we are allowed to stride out of our confines. Social distancing will be a norm everywhere, classrooms will not be an excep on. The teaching will be a blend of online and offline modes and the teachers should be able to shi from one to the other fluidly. Classroom ac vi es management so ware will be widely used. LMS based Homework, Classwork, Assignments and Assessments will be normal. EDiaries will become a standard prac ce. At Bodhi, we are making all necessary prepara ons to any challenge. We are determined to confront any situa on and we are commi ed and prepared to NO LOCKDOWN ON LEARNING. Sincerely Dr Venunadhan B. Pillai Principal

Farewell Party

Bodhi Career Education Hub Chetna Sabharwal Head, College Placements & Guidance We are already gearing up for the 'New Normal': online learning, remote learning, digital pla orms, screen me, work from home, home schooling, etc are all the buzz words today! Not to forget Zoom, Google Meet and Classroom, GoTo mee ngs, Microso team, webinars, collabora ons, chats, raise hands, clap and many such features. That's how the world is and would be post Covid19. While a new dimension has been added to the learning domain, it's impera ve for all of us to keep ourselves balanced. These 5R's will be very helpful: 1. Reading responsibly and not ge ng carried away by the sugges ons made by your search engine. It's a major distrac on and we all need to prac ce selfcontrol. Read books, ar cles, study, join courses on EdX, Coursera, Udemy, OOC and start wri ng, speaking, performing as per your preference. 2. Reach out to your network to learn, collaborate and review the prac ces that you have been following. Ask ques ons to your teachers, peer group and industry specialists to know what's there for you in future. Seek help from a counselor for any concerns related to your schedule, habits and learning. 3.Rejuvenate yourself by indulging in your hobbies or newly found love of cooking, music, dance, wri ng, art, blog, podcast, photography, etc. Call it your “me me” and flourish! 4.Revisit your goals and plans as this new normal is not only challenging but also unpredictable. Upskill yourself to remain relevant in the world of work. 5. Remind yourself why you're prac cing social distancing. You are not alone. It is important to keep not only ourselves safe, but our older neighbours down the street, our parents and others we care about who may be extra vulnerable. Applaud yourself for doing such an honourable and selfless act, and keep your mind busy as much as possible. Stay safe and stay relevant!
