BRAHMAM BODHI NEWS LETTER SEPTEMBER 2017

Achievements\"Success is not an accident but the result of planned effort\". This is true for Bodhi which makesaccolades after accolades knock at its doors. The latest one is the prestigious Education WorldAward; the Education World India School Rankings 2017/18 has ranked Bodhi as the No 1International Day School in Rajasthan. The School Director Mrs Nitu Bothra accompanied bythe Principal of the school Dr Venunadhan B. Pillai and CIE Head Mr Jay Sharma receivedthe award in front of an august invited audience from across the globe at a special ceremonyheld for the purpose in The Leela Ambience Hotel and Residences in Gurgaon on 22nd ofSeptember 2017. Bodhi, though only 3 years old, has made great strides in school educationbecause of its vision, mission and a passion to be world class. The school is applauded for itsnovel approaches. \"We are growing from strength to strength and keeping up our performanceto do better in the future,\" said Mr Naresh Bothra, the school's visionary chairman.

September is the month of assessments; the students sat the Segment 1 examination after a good and rigorous practice. The month saw a major shift from activities and competitions to academic fervor. Teachers and students geared up to put their bestfoot forward for the 'assessment for learning', but the anxiety level of parents seemed torise. Parents are advised to be calm during assessment times as these are meant to measureand gauge the learning; under performance, in any case, gives an insight into the grey areasand ascertains suitable remediation. Children need a lot of support and positivity tocombat this phase.Academics and sports go hand in hand. Though September was dedicated to academics,yet students gave a zestful participation in District School Tournaments and OpenSwimming Competition. A total of 26 medals adorned the tally of the school. Vedanti Davehas set a new swimming record after breaking her own record . She is an exemplarswimmer who competes the best of her to produce the better of her best.Ten students from the senior grades participated in the Space Quiz and PaintingCompetition organized by RRSC-West, NRSC/ ISRO, to celebrate World Space Week.Nishtha Jain of Grade 9 stood first in the painting competition.Student Led Conference of the Kindergarten was another milestone that was achieved withgreat success. The endeavor became fruitful when the students of the phase made theirlearning visible to their parents, leaving them amazed with their confidence andenthusiasm.The school made a major introduction in its system by appointing the Students' Council.The members of the council are heading different offices and are instrumental instrengthening the school discipline.The pages, as you flip through, will open before you a gallery of events that made the monthof September a memorable one. Messages from the Head Boy & Head Girl The prestigious post that has come to me has brought colossal responsibility with it. I am expected to be the role model for my school mates and I am certain to be an exemplar in my demeanour and conduct. I believe that my efforts should be directed to maintaining the school's decorum and discipline on one hand, and planning and formulating policies with the school authorities that are beneficial for the student community at large, on the other hand. Teachers Day Celebration 4th September 2017Kindergarten celebrated Teachers' Day on 4th September 2017 with èlanand gusto. The little Bodhian stars showcased their talent in dancing,poetry recitation and chanting of shloka. The love and respect theyexhibited for their teachers was applauded whole heartedly. A word ofgratitude was sent to the parents for being instrumental in preparing thechildren to present an impressive show.

Kindergarten Temple Visit 15th September 2017A visit to Juna Khedapati temple was organized for the students ofKindergarten on the 14th of September for meeting learning objectivesof familiarizing the children with religious places. The temple is alsorenowned for its magnificient entrance and idols of many deities inone place. Kids were taken to all the wings of temple; they were quietand composed in the periphery. Their demeanour was the most suitablefor the place and was appropriated by all who were watching them.

Student Led Conference 16th September 2017Student Led Conference for the Kindergarten phase earned applause fromthe parents and guardians. They were pleasantly surprised by their ward'sendeavour in giving them a guided tour of the classroom, explaining thetheme boards, word wall, wonder wall and providing a satisfactoryglimpse into the learning and knowledge they have gained at the school.The teachers were passive facilitators; students took the onus of makingtheir learning visible. The school's initiative to conduct SLCs hasstrengthened the holistic development of learners and reaped beneficialresults.

Sports CompetitionsSwimming Tournament :The school has gained a lot of recognition in the field of swimming. Tennis Tournament :The budding tennis players represented the school at 62nd School DistrictTournament which was held on the grounds of Gowshala. As many as 13students participated U-14 category and competed to the best of theirpotential with an undeterred spirit. Space Quiz and Painting Competition 26th September 2017The Regional Remote Sensing Centre, Jodhpur organized a school level SpaceQuiz and Painting Competition to celebrate World Space Week. The themewas 'Exploring New Worlds in Space'. The aim of the celebration was to fosterinterest in space science, space technology and space exploration for the benefitof mankind. Many students from the different schools participated in the eventand got enlightened about the contribution of ISRO in the field of spacetechnology. Ten of our students competed in the competitions organized andNishtha Jain of Grade 9 secured the first position in the painting competition.
