BELGRAVE,GCMG, KA GOVERNOR-GENERAL OF BARBADOS On the Occasion of The 24th Rotary District 7030 Assembly and Conference April 20 to 23, 2016It is a pleasure for me to extend a warm welcome to all the delegates to the Rotary District Conference 2016, to be held by Rotary International District 7030 in our beautiful island Barbados between 20th to 23rd April, 2016. Rotary International is one of the world’s first service organisations and Rotarians have remained faithful to their motto “Service Above Self”. Over the years, Rotarians worldwide have made invaluable contributions to their various communities and I can attest to the outstanding humanitarian services provided by our three local clubs in many areas. They have impacted positively on several lives throughout the island. I am confident that as you meet here for your annual Rotary District Conference, your discussions will be fruitful and your members will return home refreshed and eager to resume their work which is to serve the people of their respective countries. I wish each one of you well and stand ready to receive you in Barbados when next you choose to visit these shores. This is a special year for all Barbadians as we celebrate our 50th Anniversary of Independence on 30th November, 2016. I wish to take this opportunity to invite you to join with us in celebrating our Golden Anniversary. The highlights of our celebrations will take place between the 29th and 30th of November this year and those of you who have the time and the means are free to return here at the end of November, 2016. STUART, Q.C., M.P., PRIME MINISTER OF BARBADOS On the Occasion of The 24th Rotary District 7030 Assembly and Conference April 20 to 23, 2016Iextend warm greetings to Rotarians of Rotary District 7030 as you meet on your 24th Assembly and Conference. I extend a special welcome to those who may be visiting our beautiful island for the first time, and invite you to take some time out from your hectic schedule to enjoy our varied landscape, exciting activities, and, primarily, the renowned hospitality of Barbados. There is little doubt that, as Rotarians, you are committed to your motto, ‘’Service above Self; as is evident in the various community projects you continuously undertake. One of many such examples is the combined efforts of the three (3) local clubs to conduct, in May 2015, a seminar on Autism, highlighting the complexities of understanding, treating with and managing individuals who suffer with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The positive impact that such projects have had on the lives of many in these communities is invaluable. Rotary International District 7030, I commend you for your sterling contribution. On November 30, 2016, Barbados will celebrate 50 years of Independence. As we engage in the various activities planned throughout this year to mark this milestone, I invite all Rotarians to unite with Barbadians everywhere to identify the positive features of life not only in Barbados but in your various communities that should be reclaimed, those that should be retained, and also those features that must of necessity be discarded. I trust that your District Conference will be successful, and that Rotarians will continue to make a significant contribution to the development of our nations. Je salue en particulier ceux et celles qui visitent notre belle île pour la première fois, et je vous invite à prendre le temps hors de votre programme chargé pour apprécier nos paysages variés, nos activités divertissantes et surtout, l’hospitalité renommée de la Barbade. Il est certain que, en tant que Rotariens, vous réalisé admirablement votre devise, ‘servir d’abord’, comme il est évident à travers les multiples actions communautaires que vous entreprenez sans cesse. Je cite par exemple, les efforts combinés des trois (3) clubs locaux pour mener, en May 2015, un séminaire sur l’autisme mettant en vedette les complexités de la compréhension, et la façon de traiter et gérer les individus souffrant des troubles du spectre autistique. RAVINDRAN PRESIDENT, ROTARY INTERNATIONAL 2015-16 On the Occasion of The 24th Rotary District 7030 Assembly and Conference April 20 to 23, 2016 Dear Rotarians and friends,It is a pleasure to welcome you to this 2015-16 District Conference. Every district conference is a valuable opportunity to refresh ourselves, recharge our energies, and renew our acquaintance with our fellow Rotarians. For these few days, we step out of our daily responsibilities, and focus ourselves completely on Rotary. It is a time to assess where we are, where we are heading, and how best to move forward. Rotary membership is on the rise worldwide, with Rotarians serving in more clubs than ever before. It is our responsibility to keep looking, both within the Rotary family and outside of it, for new members: finding ways to smooth the path from our youth programs to Rotary membership, while continuing to reach out to older members who still have so much to give. It is also our responsibility to keep up the momentum: to ensure that every new member finds value and meaning in Rotary, and becomes an asset to their club. As we look ahead to Rotary’s future, we look forward as well to our greatest achievement yet: the eradication of polio. We hope and believe that in this year, the world will see its last case of this terrible disease. Yet, as we all know, reaching this milestone does not mean that we have reached the end of our work. Three years must pass before the world can be certified polio-free. During that time, we must continue to immunize children, continue to monitor the environment for signs of the virus, and keep awareness high. In these most critical days, every one of us has a role to play in ensuring our success. I send my best wishes for an enjoyable and productive district conference. RAVINDRAN PRÉSIDENT, ROTARY INTERNATIONAL 2015-16 À L’occasion de la 24Ième Rotary Assemblé et Conférence de District 7030 Du 20 Au 23 Avril, 2016 Chers Rotariens, chers amis,C’est mon plaisir de vous souhaiter la bienvenue à cette conférence de district 2015-16. Chaque conférence de district est la parfaite occasion pour nous revigorer, recharger nos énergies et renouveler nos amitiés avec nos confrères Rotariens. Pour ces quelques jours nous échappons nos responsabilités quotidiennes, et nous nous concentrons entièrement au Rotary. C’est le moment d’évaluer où nous sommes rendus, où nous voulons se rendre et la meilleur façon d’avancer. Mondialement, l’effectif du Rotary augmente; plus que jamais auparavant, les Rotariens servent dans les clubs. C’est notre responsabilité de continuer à trouver de nouveaux membres à l’extérieure et à l’intérieure de la famille Rotary. Nous devons trouver les moyens de faciliter le chemin entre nos programmes de jeunesse jusqu’à l’effectif du Rotary même, toute en continuant à tendre la main aux membres plus âgés qui ont encore beaucoup à donner. Nous avons aussi la responsabilité de garder notre élan pour s’assurer que chaque nouveau membre trouve de la valeur et de l’importance au sein du Rotary afin qu’il devienne un atout pour le club. Lorsque nous envisageons l’avenir du Rotary, nous attendons avec impatience notre plus grande réussite à date : l’éradication de la polio. Nous espérons et nous croyons que le dernier cas de cette terrible maladie sera pour cette année. Cependant, comme nous le savons tous, atteindre cette étape importante ne veut pas dire que nous sommes à la fin de nos travaux. Il faut que trois ans passent sans un cas avant d’être certifié sans polio. Entretemps, nous devons continuer les vaccins pour les enfants, continuer à surveiller l’environnement pour les signes du virus, et garder une haute vigilance. Chacun d’entre nous a un rôle à jouer pour garantir notre succès durant ces jours qui sont les plus critiques. Je vous fais parvenir mes meilleurs vœux pour que cette conférence de district soit productive et agréable.
