Story I: The Magic Chair Hi my little friends, I, Brainy Bunny have a wonderful story to share with you from my big bag of stories. There was once a little boy who always loved to spend time with his grandpa. They would play and laugh and have lots of fun. But, as the boy got older, he made new friends and did not have time for grandpa or his stories. One day, he boasted to grandpa that he had many many friends. His grandpa sweetly said, Surely, they all aren’t your friends. Some might be acquaintances, some might be crime partners, but all must not be friends”. The little boy told grandpa that he was wrong. So, grandpa decided to have a bet with his grandson. He shuffled into his room and returned holding something in his hand. He explained to his grandson that he was holding an invisible chair that had magical properties. It was difficult to sit on the chair, but if he did he would be able to see who his true friends were excited, the boy took the chair to the class. In the recess, he asked all his friends to gather around and explained to them that he would 5

try to sit on the invisible chair he had. And that it did something cool! The first time the boy tried to sit, he couldn’t find the chair and fell straight on his backside. His circle of “friends’ laughed loudly at him. The boy got up and tried yet again. He kept falling and kept trying, but almost everyone of his friends only laughed at him. Their laughter was hurting him, but he kept on trying. Until the tenth time, when he closed his eyes and said something, and he magically did not fall!! He opened his eyes in surprise and saw that three of his friends were holding him up. He realized what his grandpa was trying to say about friends always being there for one another and caring for one another. 6

Grandparents are cool Just like Grand pa from the story, we all have grandparents, who are filled with years of wisdom and knowledge. They love to play with us and pamper us. So, always take time out for your Grand pa or Grand ma. They will not always be around to share fun stories and make you laugh. Enjoy at least a few hours every day talking to them. Of course, many a time the children would spend all their money in sweets as soon as they would get the money. Eventually, their parents decided to teach them the value of the money by playing a game. Each child was given the same amount. The next time grand-dad gave them some money the children were told that they would each be given a year to use the money wisely, and that by the end of the year, their parents would compare how much money each child was left with. While the youngest child almost always spent all the money he had, the second youngest- Nina, tried hard to save and invest her money. However, after the end of two years, Melody surprised everyone by showing them a decent amount of money. She also brought out a violin and played the most beautiful song her family had ever heard. When asked how she managed to play the violin, Melody told them she had made a friend in the park. She gave him all her coins and in return he would teach her how to play the violin. At first she just learnt the basics. Then she was able to play alongside the other musician and soon people were appreciating their talent and she began to make money. Melody made enough money not only buy herself a violin but also to show her parents how much she had saved. She believed in herself and that she could achieve her dream of playing the violin with hard work. 119
