MOSCOW UNITED METHODIST  LEARNING TREE    FEBRUARY 2020  NEWSLETTER      February Welcome to second semester! In this half of our school year we will continue to ready our Pre-K students for the “big” school by learning to write upper and lower case letters, to print their first and last names and to begin sight word recognition! Since both Pre-K and Preschool students have been introduced to all letters of the alphabet and their sounds we will continue to review and begin practicing writing them in the order recommended by Hand Writing Without Tears. *Please practice reviewing all the letters of the alphabet with your children and ask them to tell you what sound those letters make. This month we will be focusing on writing the letters F, E, D, P, B, R, N, M, H, K, L, and U. Our numbers for the month are 17, 18, 19, and 20. Our themes are Animal Teeth, Valentine’s Day, Presidents’ Day, a​ nd​ Let’s Build a Snowman. Dentist Office Field Trip February is also Dental Health Month! We will take a walking field trip to the dental office of Dr. Daniel Sullivan, 109 North Main Street, Moscow, on Wednesday, February 12. No backpacks are necessary for this day. Pre-K will arrive to school at regular time. (9:00am) We will leave to walk to the dentist at 10:45. We will be at the dental office for approximately one half hour. We will then dismiss at normal time (11:30am) from the dentist’s office. Preschool students will arrive at school at normal time (12pm). We will begin our walk to the office at approximately 1:15pm. We will tour the dental office from 1:30-2pm. We will then dismiss at regular time from the dental office.

We will be glad to walk your child out to meet you in the parking lot across the street from the dental office- just let us know ahead of time. Also, please let us know if you would like to chaperone. We will be looking for two chaperones for each class. Valentine’s Day Parties Each class will have a Valentine’s Day Party! Pre-K and Preschool will both have their parties on Friday, February 14, 2020 during their normal class times. Your child may bring in Valentines for each of their classmates. ​This party is for the students only.​ We will be asking for volunteers from each class to please provide a snack, drinks, and paper products (plates and napkins) for their party. Please let us know if you would like to send something in and we’ll add it to our party list. Thank you in advance!! In the event the school district closes due to inclement weather, the preschool will also be closed. We will notify you via email in the event of a school cancellation. Cancellation information can also be found on our Facebook Page Moscow United Methodist Learning Tree​ and WBRE channel 28. *The preschool will operate on a normal schedule in the event of a two hour delay. However, there will NOT be early drop off at 8:30am.
