Resume tips for health care professionalsAs a health care professional, creating a resumefor your field is somewhat different that allother corporate professional resumes. There arecertain elements of professional experience andeducation that play a significant part in thehealth care industry and make a difference inattracting the employer 抯 attention. Therefore,to compose a winning resume as a health careprofessional, you will need to consider andinclude the following information:- Indicate how many patients or clients you have

taken care of. Whether you are a nurse in a largehospital, or manage financial accounts at thesmall doctor 抯 practice, it is important toindicate to your future employer how many peopleyou have dealt with on daily basis, and how youhave addressed any concerns that arise fromtaking care of people in sensitive situations.- List all of the training that you have acquired,beyond your education that makes you qualifiedfor a specific area in the health care industry.Beyond the training you have completed that is jobspecific, consider listing any other training inmanagement, communications, ethics, etc. Whilethis type of training may not be required for thejob that you are seeking, it does show youremployer that you have transferable skills andthat you are interested in understanding thebroad aspect of the industry.- Certifications and licenses are a criticalaspect of the health care industry. Make sure thatyou list all your licenses, and their valid dates.Additionally, consider any programs, continuing

education courses, or government regulationsthat you are compliant with; all of these itemsshould be included in your resume. Not only dothey highlight your qualifications, but alsoprovide assurance to your potential employer thatyou meet all the requirements of the city, stateand federal agencies in order to be employed inyour field.- Your professional summary must list a clearprofessional goal. It is important that youdemonstrate to your employer that you have a vastknowledge of the health care industry, and thatyou have a career path in mind. If you are new tohealth care, use the professional summary tohighlight your education and practical work thatqualifies you for the position you are seeking.- Use industry jargon, but exercise caution. Don抰 try to replace certain medical terms withcommon phrases. Feel free to demonstrate yourknowledge of the field by using terminology thatis specific to health care. However, don 抰 overuse the same terms, or phrases, and don 抰 use
