Spring 2022 Thank you to our students and teachers for making 2021-22 a record-setting year for the Seguin ISD CTE department. This school year saw the return of in-person competitions for many of our student organizations and our students excelled. BPA, FFA, HOSA, SkillsUSA and TIVA all had students earn their way to state competition and our BPA chapter had two students represent Texas at the BPA National Convention. In the classroom, we began the year discussing a renewed focus on student performance on industry-based certifications (IBCs). IBCs help our students show employers that they have mastered the skills and knowledge necessary to be successful in the workplace. This year, 161 students in Seguin High School CTE classes earned a whopping 243 industry certifications in a multitude of pathways. Certifications were earned by students in Arts/AV, Business, Cosmetology, Construction, Floral Design, Health Science, Law Enforcement, Veterinary Medicine, and Welding classes. The number of students and certifications more than doubles the totals from the 2020-21 school year. This school year also saw the return or continuation of several CTE Department events, including Manufacturing Day, Seguin Career Day, and Industry Signing Day. As we move forward, our goal is to continue to grow those events and develop additional events, some designed to connect our high school students to the local workforce and others to connect our middle school students to the pathways available to them at the Seguin High School. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making 2021-22 a success. We look forward to seeing what we can accomplish in 2022-23 as we continue to grow. Have a great summer!
