Troubled The troubled families programme was rolled out in Families England in 2012 and it aims to support families in Programme which encounter 2 of the following problems: • parents or children involved in crime or anti- social behaviour • children not attending school regularly • children who need help • adults who are out of work or are at risk of financial exclusion • families affected by domestic violence or abuse • Parents or children with a range of physical and mental health problems https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2MGNib_oy8
Economy and income On average in Oldham the median household income is £22,289 where as Werneth has a median household income of £17,073 The employment rate in werneth is 42.5% which again is lower than Oldham’s average 58.2% The 13.2% of people that are on out of work benefits in Werneth will possibly be offered support by The Troubled Families Programme as the adults are at risk of financial exclusion for being out of work
Community safety Within Werneth although the rate of reported anti social behaviour and crime is lower then average for the borough the figures are still very similar. This again will contribute to the support given by the troubled families programme as the parents or children could be involved in such crime or anti-social behaviour
Population • Werneth has a growing population, with at present a very young age profile • The 0-15 and 16-64 populations have grown by 15% and 13% respectively
