WINNERS OF GRAND PARENTS VIDEO “Grandparents make the world a little softer, a little kinder, and a little warmer.” Memories of grand parents with their grand children is stunning. At Dunes we gave an opportunity to all the students to share the video of the valuable time spend with their grandparents during the sum- mer vacation. OZONE DAY The ozone layer acts as a filter for the shorter wavelength and highly hazardous ultraviolet radiation (UVR) from the sun, protecting life on Earth from its potentially harmful effects. One of the most serious prob- lems that the world faces today is the depletion of the Ozone layer .Every year September 16 is marked as the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer. During this day Grade 2 students learned the importance of ozone layer and how world stands united in protecting ozone layer from depletion. 6

PEACE DAY Each year, international peace day is observed around the world on September 21st.This day is devoted to strengthening the ideas of peace, both within and among all nations and people. To strengthen this value the students of grade 2 were enlight- en with the importance of peace day through different activities. Through these activ- ities students learned the importance of peace and different ways to bring peace in the world. 7

ENGLISH . A conjunction is a word that joins words, phrases or parts of sentences. The three most used con- junctions are “and”, “but” and “or”. A deeper comprehension of clauses and conjunctions will help students understand the building blocks of language. Practice with conjunctions will also help them to create more complex sentences and correct run-on sentences. Students of grade 2 showcased their learning of conjunctions through presenting information, find- ing and supporting evidence clearly, concisely and logically such that listeners can follow the line of reasoning and the organization, development, substance and style are appropriate to purpose, au- dience and task. 8

MATHEMATICS Math activity :Subtraction using subtraction wheel Students were given a subtraction wheel with numbers on it. They had to subtract the given numbers and write the an- swers in the wheel. Through this activity students learned to subtract the numbers using their mental math skills. This ac- tivity helped to develop their critical thinking skills. 9

EVS Learning strategies teach students how to learn, ra- ther than teaching them specific curriculum content or specific skills. A graphic organizer is one such learn- ing strategy and a visual display that demonstrates relationships between facts, concepts or ideas. A graphic organizer guides the learner's thinking as they fill in and build upon a visual map or dia- gram. Students used the graphic organizer to de- fine, to quote examples and to write information's about outdoor activities. This strategy help students to learn the concept very easily . 10

ARABIC Building Vocabulary is basic learning for enhancing Arabic language. Students of grade 2 were improving their Arabic vocabulary by knowing names of different body parts. During this activity students drew the picture of human body and labelled the external body parts in Arabic. 11

HINDI Learning “Singular - Plural ” in a real life. . Languages play an important role in our lives. That are directly or indi- rectly connected to our lives. There are a few basic rules to remember when it comes to turning a singular noun into a plural noun. By doing this activity grade two students were learning “Singular- plu- ral ”words by their own stationeries and toys . This helped them to recall few new words easily in Hindi and it will help to In- crease their vocabulary as well. 12

ART Mosaic art Its an art form where a surface is covered by small pieces of objects, like stones or tiles or paper that fit together tightly. Students of grade 2 did paper mosiac art, which was art of creating beautiful mosiac by using pa- per bits. It helps students to recognize the patterns and help them build geometric awareness. Students were engaged effectively in collaborating and building their own patterns creating their own creativity. 13

MORAL SCIENCE kindness is a key ingredient that helps children feel good. Having a positive outlook allows them greater attentions spans and enables more creative thinking to produce better results at school. When you commit a kind act, those around you will take note and your kindness can have a ripple effect. During this activity students traced their palm in the colours of the rainbow and wrote an act of kindness that they will do. 14

MUSIC Singing comes from within and keeps one happy and joyful. Students learn a new song with singing techniques and breath control. They focus on the pitch and tone and also learn the lyrics of the song. Morning assemblies are a very important part in a student’s life. Singing songs to start the day has a positive effect on one’s life. Here, students learn a new assembly song with vigor and enthusiasm. 15

SWIMMING Floating In Freestyle Swimming Increase competency in freestyle .It is very important when you flip to keep the front hand in a forward position in order to use it for pushing water with while returning the body and head to the water. The purpose of this swimming workout is to combine swim- ming freestyle with long breathing cycles. The immediate goal of developing a faster flutter kick is as basic as wanting to go faster. A strong kick gives you killer body position in the water. A strong kick launches you into your arm pull. A strong kick keeps your stroke together. 16

LIBRARY Library plays a very healthy role throughout a student’s life. Library provides stu- dents a very healthy environment for learning as well as making notes or completing an assign- ment. Library provides a very calm and disciplined atmosphere which helps students to maintain a good concentration on their learning. Students of grade 2 were provided with access to a rich book for guided reading- promoting greater amount of reading. Increased reading frequency with more diverse experience among students will help them to attain a greater level of reading achievement. 17

E -READING Read an e-book Day is a celebration of modern storytelling. E-books enable you to take the sto- ries and authors you love with you anytime, anywhere. To encourage the students to read e- book day was observed in school. The e-book was displayed on the whiteboard and the stu- dents were made to read the book. They were also explained about the steps to take an e-book on their own. This was done to make them digitally competent. 18
