John was an eleven year old boy who used to live in Polandbut then moved to County Kilkenny in Ireland because hisfather couldn't find a job at home.But soon after his arrival tragedy struck as his mother camedown with an illness and soon after she sadly past away.John always loved his mother and they often used to dothings together, for example when they got stressed theyused to bake to relieve the stress.But after John’s mother passed away his father becamedepressed and an alcoholic. John was also bullied at schoolbecause of his accent and that made it hard to makefriends. But one teacher Ms. Joy found that John had a biginterest in music and was very talented on the piano. So oneday after class Ms.Joy asked John to audition for anorchestra for a music concert up in Galway. John agreed togo but said that he had no way of transport. Ms.Joy said hedid not need to worry as she would give him a lift. All Johnhad to do was get his father to sign a leaflet to say he wasallowed to go.So after school John went to where he usually found hisfather, in the local pub. He found his father slouched overthe bar with a half pint of beer beside him. John woke himup and asked him to sign the paper. He signed the paperwithout even asking what it was for. So John left the puband went to Ms.Joy’s house. He told her the news and thefollowing week John was on his way to Galway.

Ms. Joy had told John that she would meet him at theaudition. John did very well and about three days later inschool Ms.Joy told John that he was accepted to theorchestra. John was over the moon with excitement and hisfirst concert was in less than a month. So every morning hehad to get up at 5 a.m just so he could get to his practice inGalway and still when he was finished he had to go back toschool.So when the day came that John had his concert Ms.Joytold him that that she would not be bringing him but wouldmeet him there. John was so surprised when a limousinepulled up to bring him to the concert. When John got therehe saw Ms.Joy but holding hands with someone but it wastoo dark to see the person.After his concert he met up with Ms.Joy and surprisinglyJohn’s father. Johns father said that Ms.Joy and him were ina relationship and that he was cleared of his depression andwas becoming a pioneer.So a few years later Ms.Joy and Johns father were marriedand John went on to be a very popular pianist.Aged: 12School: Lisnafunchin N.S
