HISTORY OF TABLE TENNIS

HISTORY OF TABLE TENNIS Table Tennis is a racket sport similar in the principle of lawn tennis, but it's played on a flat table divided into two equal courts by a net. Ping-Pong was the original name for table tennis, invented in England in the early twentieth century. The original Ping-Pong Association was established in 1902, but it was revived in 1921-1922 under the name \"Table Tennis.\" Image from 99sportz The ITTF has thoroughly researched the game, and they have known that the person who invented table tennis is the English man named David Foster. He was the first to file a patent for a table tennis game in 1890. Rackets with strings and a cloth- covered ball were used in his game. However, he was not the one who invented ping-pong Image from workouthq.org

HISTORY OF TABLE TENNIS Even though the initial association had disbanded in 1905, the game continued to be played in parts of England outside of London. By the 1920s, it had spread to several countries led by Germany, Hungary, and England. The founding members of the Fédération Internationale de Tennis de Table (International Table Tennis Federation) founded in 1926 are England, Sweden, Hungary, India, Denmark, Germany, Czechoslovakia, Austria, and Wales. And by the mid-1990s, more than 165 national associations were members of this game. Image from brittanica.com The first world championships were held in London in 1926, and players from Central Europe dominated the sport until 1939, with Hungary winning the men's team event nine times and Czechoslovakia twice. Since the mid-1950s, Asia has emerged as a breeding ground for champions, with Japan and China winning the men's team event and, to a lesser degree, the women's event; North Korea has also emerged as a global power. The first World Cup was held in 1980, and China's Guo Yuehua took home the $12,500 first prize. Table tennis was declared an Olympic sport in 1988, with men and women competing in singles and doubles. Image from urldiy.com Image from sportsofyore.com
