We are a member of American International Schools in the Americas (AMISA). The School was founded in 1959 Art 3 IB Biology HL/SL HL/SL and is located in Ecuador’s capital city, Quito. The student body consists of 563 students in three divisions, Elementary School, Art 4 IB Chemistry HL/SL IB Visual Arts HL/SL Middle School, and High School. 85% of our teachers have Master's Degrees. Art Foundations IB Design Technology Independent Art Media HL/SL* Modified English We expect the class of 2022 to have 35 graduates. Academia Cotopaxi is proudly international in its student body, enrolling Drama and Film IB Economics HL/SL Independent students from 34 countries. 60% of our students are Production IB English Lang & Lit Modified Math international and 40% are Ecuadorian. Of the international students, 26% are North American. English 11-12 HL/SL International Global Citizenship 12 IB English Literature Relations Academic Program Health and Physical HL/SL Internship Students in the High School follow a U.S. college preparatory Education IB Global Politics Math Through Design curriculum. The language of instruction is English and graduates earn a U.S. High School diploma. In addition, students can also HS Band HL/SL* Science* pursue an Ecuadorian diploma, a full International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma during their junior and senior years, or enroll in HS Biology IB History HL/SL Spanish 1 individual IB courses. All IB diploma candidates are required to engage in and complete the assessments associated with Theory HS Chemistry IB Math MAA HL/SL Spanish 11/12 of Knowledge and the Extended Essay, as well as complete CAS (Creativity, Action and Service). HS Design IB Math MAI SL Spanish 2 Technology IB Physics HL/SL Spanish 3 All students are required to complete the requirements of CAS whether they are enrolled in the full diploma or taking a mix of IB HS Forensics IB Spanish ab initio SL Spanish 4 and non IB courses. The high school provides extensive HS Orchestra IB Spanish B HL/SL Teacher Assistant extracurricular activities including National Honors Society, HS Physics IB Spanish Lang & Lit Theory of Knowledge Model United Nations, Music, Drama and Student Council. Athletic opportunities include soccer, basketball, volleyball, and HS Piano HL/SL 12 swimming.
