We Who Love Books The Game Of Life Some books I'll never give away Life is a game, have some aim; Though old and worn, their binding torn Life has sorrow, but happiness comes Upon my shelves they'll always stay tommorow; Alive, still read, still fresh each dawn Work hard for it’s difficult, You will suerly get its result; Their magic moments never gone. Combine love with life, Familiar friends, these timeless tales Not the pistol and knife; Have been with me since I was ten If you are physically and mentaly fit, And as I turn their pages once again Do not think twice, you can do it. I feel and love their old refrain. Follow these deeds and warn your life as it Great verse, great thought, still stand Suceeds, The test of time that is passing by so fast. Face the odds and go far, Show the world who you are. These good companions never fail To give me joy, to nourish me. We who love books will always be The lucky ones, our minds set free. Poems On Trees I think that I shall never see A poem lovely as a tree. A tree whose hungry mouth is preset Against the earth sweet flowering breast. A tree that looks at God all day And lefts her leafy arms to pray. A tree that may in summer wear A nest of robins in her hair. Upon whose bosom snow has lain Who intimately lives with rain. Poems are made by fools like me But only God can make a tree. RITURAJ VERMA VIII A “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” 56

A WISE OLD OWL An old owl lived in an oak. Everyday he saw incidents happening around him. Yesterday he saw a boy helping an old man to carry a heavy basket. Today he saw a girl shouting at her mother. The more he saw the less he spoke. As he spoke less, he heard more. He heard people talking and telling stories. He heard a woman saying that an elephant jumped over a fence. He also heard a man saying that he had never made a mistake. The old owl had seen and heard about what happened to people. Some became better and some became worse. However, the old owl had become wiser each day. Moral of the story: You should be observant, talk less but listen more. This will make you a wise person. The Boy Who Wants To Get Rid Of His Troubles There lived a boy named Bhola in a village, the financial condition of Bhola's house was so bad that if he did not work for a day, the householders would have to sleep hungry, but Bhola never. He also did not let his housemates sleep. After some time, Bhola got married and a few days later, he had two children. Now Bhola's problems increased even more because now he had to arrange for the expenses of the children along with other things like children's school fees, books. One problem in his life did not end and another would come. Being upset by this, Bhola went to a sadhu mahatma who had come to the village. He told him all his problems in detail that his life was going through many troubles, one did not end and the other came. Sadhu Maharaj smiled on hearing Bhola and took him to a river near the village. On reaching the river, the sage Mahatma said “I will answer your questions by going across the river”. Bhola said “Okay Sadhu Maharaj stood on the bank of the river, a lot of time passed but the sadhu did not move from the banks of the river nor did he say anything. Finally, Bhola got upset and asked the sadhu Maharaj that he was talking about going across the river, but he had been standing at the same place for quite a while. “Why are you not going across the river?” The Mahatma replied “let the river dry up, then I will go”. Hearing this, Bhola's head was shocked and said that Maharaj, this river is never going to dry up, you have to go through the river to go across it. This is what Sadhu Maharaj said, “I want to explain to you that the problems are just like this river in our life, if we have to move forward in our life then we will have to go through these problems”. SHARANYA PATHAK VIIIA “That’s one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind.” 58

THE JOURNEY OF A WORRIER TO WARRIOR “ Walls of an isolation ward seems so faded”, said Hussain, a 30 year old Maths Teacher from Leh. He got positive for covid-19 and was shifted to an isolation ward. For a few days he was very disturbed and worried about his health. Hussain was working as a Maths teacher in a secondary school. As a teacher, Hussain felt bad because he could not teach any of his students due to living in an isolation ward. He was worried about his students. Doctors and nurses were very supportive. All health care workers at the isolation ward were dedicated to their work, none of them were resting. By seeing this, Hussain got an inspiration and his power to fight covid-19 increased. If health care workers can do their job without a fear of death, so do can I. I can continue my teaching from this isolation ward. Hussain took permission from the Principal and school management. The Principal and the school management cooperated with him in obtaining permission from UT administration for conducting classes from isolation ward. Hussain converted his isolation ward into a classroom, where he started interacting with his students through Google Meet app and whatsapp. Hussain also made a Youtube channel where he used to upload videos related to Maths related problems. Hussain’s family was quiet worried about his health but Hussain didn’t stop his teaching. Teaching gave him an energy to fight against covid-19. During live interactions, his students supported him by sending warm messages for early recovery. This gesture made Hussain motivated and to keep a positive attitude to fight. After 20 days of isolation Hussain finally got negative for covid-19. When Hussain heard about this good news that he won against Corona Virus, he was so happy. He gave all the credit to his teaching and will power that he survived. When he came back from isolation centre, he uploaded a video of his covid times and shared his experience of teaching despite being covid positive. Hussain’s positive attitude and Hussain himself became an inspiration for many teachers and students. He also thanked all the doctors, nurses and health care workers for supporting him. At last, he said “My dedication and love for teaching kept me alive”. Disha Shukla XB “A successful man is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks others have thrown at him.” 59

WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE William Shakespeare ( 26 April 1564 – 23 April 1616) was an English playwright, poet, and actor, widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world’s greatest dramatist. He is often called England’s national poet and the “Bard of Avon” (or simply “the Bard”). His extant works, including collaborations, consist of some 39 plays,[c] 154 sonnets, three long narrative poems, and a few other verses, some of uncertain authorship. His plays have been translated into every major living language and are performed more often than those of any other playwright. They also continue to be studied and reinterpreted. Shakespeare was born and raised in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire. At the age of 18, he married Anne Hathaway, with whom he had three children: Susanna and twins Hamnet and Judith. Sometime between 1585 and 1592, he began a successful career in London as an actor, writer, and part-owner of a playing company called the Lord Chamberlain’s Men, later known as the King’s Men. At age 49 (around 1613), he appears to have retired to Stratford, where he died three years later. Few records of Shakespeare’s private life survive; this has stimulated considerable speculation about such matters as his physical appearance, his sexuality, his religious beliefs, and whether the works attributed to him were written by others. Shakespeare produced most of his known works between 1589 and 1613. His early plays were primarily comedies and histories and are regarded as some of the best work produced in these genres. He then wrote mainly tragedies until 1608, among them Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, Othello, King Lear, and Macbeth, all considered to be among the finest works in the English language. In the last phase of his life, he wrote tragicomedies (also known as romances) and collaborated with other playwrights. Many of Shakespeare’s plays were published in editions of varying quality and accuracy in his lifetime. However, in 1623, two fellow actors and friends of Shakespeare’s, John Heminges and Henry Condell, published a more definitive text known as the First Folio, a posthumous collected edition of Shakespeare’s dramatic works that included all but two of his plays. The volume was prefaced with a poem by Ben Jonson, in which Jonson presciently hailed Shakespeare in a now-famous quote as “not of an age, but for all time”. In the latter, it also refers to an orthodox school of philosophy. Yoga has many branches like Raja yoga, Karma yoga, jnana yoga, Bhakthi yoga, and Hatha yoga. But when most people talk of yoga in India or abroad, they usually mean Hatha yoga, which consists of certain exercises called ‘asanas’. It can also include ‘pranayama’, a set of breathing exercises. IMPORTANCE OF OLYMPICS GAMES Olympics play an important part not only the sport life but also in the cultural life of the global community. The Olympics involve nations from all over the world and they are the major sport events in every four years in the entire world. At the same time, the Olympics attract not only sportspersons but also spectators, who are interested in sports and who either attend Olympics in the area, they take place, or watch the Olympic Games broadcasts. The Olympics have a considerable impact on the development of the personal, national and global identity of people because the Olympic Games are the major event in the sport life of the world and people get involved into the Olympics at all level, from individual participation or involvement into the Olympics to the national and global level when people form and support their national teams and compete with other teams and sportspersons from all over the world. Therefore, the Olympics are socially important events that take place every four year and shape the individual, national and global identity. Historically, the Olympics were internationally significant event that unite people from all over the world. The Olympics are the major sport event that takes place every four years. The Olympics is the ultimate manifestation of the greatest achievements in the field of sport since every sportsperson participating in the Olympic Games. There are winter and summer Olympic Games which are conducted in winter and summer every four year respectively. The Olympic Games include all the sports registered by the International Olympic Committee as Olympic sports. Sportspersons and teams are qualified for the Olympic Games in the course of the competitions which take place prior to the Olympics during four years period. Moreover, the Olympics have a considerable symbolic significance. For instance, historically, the Olympics were associated with the time, when all wars either ended up or stopped for the time the Olympics ran. The Olympic Games become a unifying event that unites people on the ground of their love to sport and healthy lifestyle. At the same time, the Olympics have a considerable impact at all levels from the individual level to the global one. However in spite of the level of the impact of the Olympics, the Games contribute to the formation of the imagined community which allows people to shape the imagined identity, which though is short run and fades away, when the Olympics end. People perceive the Olympics in different ways but they can hardly stay indifferent or unaffected by the Olympics. 70

In addition, it is possible to distinguish participants of the Olympics and the spectators, i.e. those individuals, who attend the competitions as well as those, who watch broadcasts of those competitions (Chomsky, 1997). Sportspersons participating in the Olympics develop their identity feeling their unity as the community of sportspersons. Even though this community is imagined in a way, because they may never encounter each other in their life before or after the competitions, but during those few weeks of the Olympic Games, they live like a sort of family or community, where all sportspersons feel their belongingness to that community, no matter how short run the existence of this community is (Bagdikian, 2000). The audience of the Olympics comprises another large group of people which may unite in imagined communities and develop their identities within those communities. These communities may exist at the local level, as well as at the national or even international level! Arduous and Earnest Efforts Made By Teachers during Covid-19 Fighting an unknown, unseen enemy, with no definite cure in sight and cases increasing day by day, the world seemed to have halted, as things looked rather gloomy and doomy. The corona had indeed, posed an unheralded challenge to humanity. For teachers too, it was a humongous task to adept to online teaching and make a mark for themselves. Most of us are quite comfortable with chalk, talk and walk method and no doubt have been quite effective with that methodology but as the saying goes, “Desperate times call for desperate measures”, the teachers too needed to find ways and means to teach children and as magic makers teachers at K.V. CRPF were pretty much able to achieve the desired results. As soon as the number of corona cases rocketed up and schools were closed for students, the first challenge was how to connect with the students for which respective class WhatsApp Groups were formed with the help of the class teachers. There were a few cases where children did not have access to the communication devices. Such students were connected through letters and calls and were motivated to buy smart phones as it was the need of hour and imperative for the proper learning of the children. The Vidyalaya staff provided smart phones to some needy students. Painstaking efforts were taken by the teachers to put the contents in the different WhatsApp Groups and on the Vidyalaya website/Blogs. Parents were encouraged to collect contents from there. Classes were conducted via different platforms, viz…, Google Classroom, Google meet, A-Z recorder (for making videos). With the help of the online training received from Mumbai on designing e-content of resources, teachers created their videos on youtube channels where they tried to create a live classroom situation. Students could go there and get the necessary help. In addition to conducting classes through different apps, meetings were conducted with parents to discuss the performance of their wards in different subjects. 74

The vidyalaya had an unconditional support from CRPF Group Centre. As a perfect foil, they ensured 24 hour electricity supply.Providing academic help to the special children was a stiff challenge and the teachers left no stone unturned on their part and gave every possible academic, emotional and psychological help to such children. They attended the online classes regularly and performed decently. Catering to the needs of the girl children, in the meeting with their parents, they were advised to follow the instructions of the schools and ensure that girls, too were attending classes and submitting the assignments and projects. One of the biggest challenges for the teachers was to assess the performances of the students. The teachers did so by using online assignments tools like google forms, google classrooms, Survey Heart etc. It gave us a great sense of satisfaction. It also gave us the belief that by making earnest efforts, anything can be achieved. Pradeep Shah (TGT Science) The Evil of Corona Virus When I found out about coronavirus, I didn’t think it was a problem and I hoped it would go away in a week or two. But at that time only 20,000 cases worldwide were confirmed and most of the media was not very serious about it and neither was I. One day, my biology teacher told me that the virus goes from one to four people and that’s why it was spreading so fast. After a month, one case was confirmed in Georgia and at the time I had already realized that it was scary, and we needed to take immediate action. Schools closed the very next day after it was confirmed. Now my routine looks like this: wake up, eat, walk the dog, study, play video games for an hour, eat again, play drums, watch a TV show, do more homework, eat, play board games and sleep. It gets boring sometimes and even my cousins can’t come because of quarantine. I really hope they will find a cure for this virus fast so we can get back to normal life again. I also hope that they count this online schooling as schooling, so we won’t need to repeat the 9th grade again.14 years of school is already too much, but 15 years would be worse. But we should all remember that this is only temporary, and we should not panic. Mayank Singh IX B “Remember that the happiest people are not those getting more, but those giving more.” 75

The Corona Pandemic: The Lessons Learnt I, being a 10th board student, I want to share my experience on the Covid-19 Lockdown and Unlock for student’s life. During this coronavirus time as being students, I have seen some advantages and disadvantages. I was initially happy about the virus because there was a lockdown all over India, there were no schools and enjoying all the day with playing games, watching movies right from the morning to the night. At once, an instant of time, I thought there was no movie for me to watch. Waiting for unlocking situation to meet friends and relatives. Still, things are not settled to meet the friends and relatives. While there was a complete change in the situation of the class’s atmosphere. After a month came to know that there are lots of disadvantages and advantages to this type of education. Finally came to know that this virus is not a blessing to students but a foreshadow of the student’s further life to adjust the Online mode of education. The shift in education is very different from all my education career. Describing the few of the advantages and disadvantages during the Covid-19 pandemic. ADVANTAGES: There are no significant advantages because there is a huge loss in jobs, lives, and the economy of the Country. However, speaking about the children, there are some advantages. School and Colleges holidays Students can use their quality time in studying and the other activities in which they are interested. Spend time in the house by not going out, enjoy watch movies, and do some craftwork. Time to spend with family Best time to spend with grandparents, cousins, mother, father, and other relatives. Moreover, everyone is doing working from home. There is no need to step out of the house and meet with relatives you can pick the phone and call them and talk with builds more family relations. Watching a movie along with the family and enjoying it can only happen now at this time. Spend time with parents, explain career-planning views, and brainstorm them for stepping towards proper feature path. Saving time to avoid transportation time, prayer, sports, chatting with friends. Spending five to six hours of the quality time for the online classes. Whereas in school, spent 10 hours. Getting more time for the self-study if we use in the proper way to avoid watching movies and playing mobile games DISADVANTAGES: There are significant disadvantages because there is a huge loss in jobs, lives, and the economy of the Country. 76

Main disadvantages for students are- Online classes, the adoption rate is around 50-60% whereas in the classroom the adoption was around 80-90%. Online classes affect the eyes of the students due to long hours in front of the blue screen Small children like the playschool and the primary grades must not have this type of class because they have low concentration power, and these small kids do not have the ability to sit for a longer time in front of the blue screen. Lots of poor students do not have access to laptops and computers; all these students are native, think there should not be this disparate education. Surely there are lots of disadvantages -like there are no exams; students are being given marks by the internals. This may impact their career in the future. These factors are going to be a foreshadow to the child further life. On this note, want to say that students are missing the days in the schools and colleges. Hoping the government take good decisions on education with clear instructions as early as possible to avoid the situations that occurred by Covid-19 pandemic. Shivangi Yadav XA “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift of God, which is why we call it the present.” 77
