SARDAR PATEL MAHAVIDYALAYA Sardar Patel Mahavidyalaya was established in 1970 with an aim to provide quality education to students from rural and backward region of Chandrapur district, Maharashtra. The college offers number of basic and professional programmes from undergraduate to research level in Arts, Commerce, Science and other faculties. All the programmes are directed towards realization of our Vision and Mission and achieving our objectives in keeping with the values set by Sarvodaya Shikshan Mandal. Sarvodaya Shikshan Mandal was awarded with Best Management award by Government of Maharashtra. The college was assessed and accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC-A). The college offers a variety of programs from UG to research level in the field of Arts, Commerce, Science, and other faculty. All admissions are granted on the basis of merit scored in the last qualifying exam. The college has a placement cell to provide employment opportunities. The members of Sarvodaya Shikshan Mandal’s, Sardar Patel Mahavidyalaya, have been in search of excellence in various fields of life. Under the dynamic leadership of Hon‟ble Shri Shantaramji Potdukhe, Ex. Union Minister of State for Finance and all the members of Sarvodaya Shikshan Mandal, Chandrapur the college has emerged as a premier institute of higher learning of education and research in eastern Vidarbha. Department of Microbiology establishes Microbiology Students club from 2012 and this students club is really doing well for overall development of students. Its a platform to bring out the hidden talents of students. The major strength of the department is a team of well qualified and dedicated faculties who are continuously supporting the students for their academic excellence. Department of Microbiology have organized several industrial visits and workshops for our our UG & PG students. Department is having Institute of Higher Learning, Research & Specialized Studies in Microbiology. The excellent infrastructure, experienced team of faculty dedicates to strengthen effective teaching learning process ensuring quality education. We believe that this approach to teaching-learning, coupled with practical experience gained during Industrial Training in reputed organizations, equips our students to handle the challenges. Our Students are placed with top fermentation Industry and research Institutes. ABOUDTEPMAICRRTOMBEINOTLOGY Microbiology department of Sardar Patel Mahavidyalaya, Chandrapur has been there ever since its inception of science faculty since 1993. Department has separate well equipped laboratory and research Centre recognized by Gondwana University. Department received grants from UGC for minor and major projects. Departmental results are improved in the semester system syllabus. Throughout year department conduct various extension activities. Department has a leading role in cooperative research activities. The Department provides ample scope to students and faculties for academics and research. The class size is kept large enough to provide a vibrant learning environment but small enough to allow close interactions between the faculty and the students. Postgraduate students in the Department gain valuable research experience through project, which is practical training of the subject, offered as a part of the course curriculum. The department is well-equipped with modern laboratories to provide quality teaching and research opportunities for students. The Department has the facilities like UV-Visible Spectrophotometer, Laminar Air flow chamber, Cooling Centrifuge, Autoclave, Light microscope, Water Bath, Orbital Shaker Incubator, Bacteriological Incubator, UV-Trans illuminator, Hot Air Oven, Refrigerator, pH meter, Dry Bath, Weighing balance, Magnetic stirrer, Vortex and Gel electrophoresis apparatus, fermenter, Research Microscope Microbiology department organizes national, International conferences, guest lecture, workshops, seminar, industrial visits, trainings in past. Annual Academic Report 2017-18 As all the Microbiology science converge to molecular aspect of living organism, basic knowledge of microbiology is absolutely essential for students of life sciences. Realizing the need in this context the Department of Microbiology in this college is running the following events. Microbiology Students Club was inaugurated by the hands of Principal Dr. R.P. Ingole on 11 August 2017. Dr. V.S. Wadhai head, Department of Microbiology delivered the introductory remark to inform the motto behind the formation of Club. The main aim of the club is to create interest of the subject among the students prepares them for seminar and different competition. Also there was a Guest lecture by Dr. Prashant Wakte on GM foods. Excursion tour was organized for M.Sc students during 26 December 2017 to 01 January 2018 and the places visited were Bangalore, Ooty, Mysore, Kodaikanal. Diring this visited Defence food research laboratory, mysore Also there was Excursion tour for B.Sc Students during 5th January to 8th January 2018 and the place visited was Panchmarhi, Madhya Pradesh. On the occasion of New Year Microbiology Student Club Students organized Health awareness programme in in Jublie High School, Chandrapur on 07 January 2018 with the support of Dr. P.R. Borkar and there was distribution of school bags and stationary items to poor school childrens. Practical Workshop on Polymerase Chain Reaction was organized by the Department of Microbiology and Biotechnology in association with HiMedia Laboratories, Mumbai on 21 December 2018. Guest Lecture was delivered by Mr. Swapneel Tank and Sanjeev Sing from Himedia Laboratories Mumbai. Students of UG and PG Microbiology has participated in Avishkar Competition level students had presented their poster and model in various categories like Pure Science, Medicine and Pharmacy etc. The Students of UG and PG Microbiology represented Gondwana University, Gadchiroli in Avishkar 2018 at Rahuri on date 13th to 19th January 2018.
