Each time, try to let out morethan you pull in.After doing a few of them, check their effect. You may need to try another series to achieveyour desired altitude. The higher altitude may provide faster owing air that may sustain ight. The amount ofline you can pull in and release depends on the stability of the kite.
The highest kite is not the best kite. As kites gethigher they look smaller to spectators and takemore work to reel in at the end of the day! Managing your line The same side of the spoolWhen ying your kite, you'll be handling your line much Useful tip 1more than the kite. You'll have to release and take in lineto avoid knots, twists and tangles. During periods of light If you pile kite line on the ground, manywind your line may droop toward the ground. Reel it in. small piles are better than one big one. When the wind picks up, you may want to release linequickly to take advantage of better wind at higherelevations.A spool will help. When using a spool, alwaystake line off the spool from the same side from which theline was put on the spool. As you wrap the line on thespool you put a twist into the line but as you remove theline the twist comes back out of the line. If you removethe line from the wrong side you will accidentally doublethe twists in the line.Useful tip 2 Useful tip 3 Useful tip 4Experienced kite iers usually pull in If you try to pull the When your line gets tangled, kite line hand-over-hand laying the line line out from the don't pull on it.That will onlyon the ground in a zig-zag pattern. bottom of the pile tighten the knots. Pulling a kite Down When it's time to pull a kite down, Fliers rst check the tension on the line, then use one of the following techniques:No tensionIf your kite is falling, take in the line quickly enough to keep light tensionthe line taut. That enables you to maintain control of the kite.If your kite is falling fast, drop your winder (if you're using Pull in the ying line slowly and smoothly.one) and pull in the line quickly using hand-over-handmotions. Leave the linem on the ground until your kite is safe.moderate tensionWhen you take in kite line, you are adding 1 to 3 MPH tothe wind speed acting on the kite. It is important, therefore, not to take in line so fast that you createexcessive wind force on the kite and cause it to over y. Useful tip Over ying happens when you take in line too fast. You will see the kite y up overhead, even upwind from you and past a point directly above the anchor or kite ier. If you fail to correct for an over y, the kite may dive and crash. If the kite should over y, slacken the line and allow the wind to carry the kite back downwind from you. Then, you can continue winding it in again.
Heavy tension Extreme TensionOne way to retrieve a hard-pulling kite is To land a kite that is pulling so hard you cannot reel or pull it in,to walk toward the kite while reeling in the wrap the ying line around an anchor then tie it in place.Walkline.This will reduce the tension on the toward the kite, reach up and pull the line down, hand over hand, line. If you run out of space, stop reeling as you go.You can use a gadget called a \"pull-down strap\" to slideand walk slowly back into the wind, pulling or roll along the line while you approach the kite. The strapthe kite behind you. reduces the friction and makes it easier to pull the line to the ground. You also will be less likely to cut or burn your handsOnce you have enough room to walk from the friction of the line.toward the kite again, do so and resumereeling it in. Repeat this procedure until the Kite pullingkite is back in your hands. Sometimes when very hardthe wind speed increases during a ight, akite will become overpowered. Hi there! I am Miss Joy!!I will be teaching you about history and kite festival in Singapore! I love festivals, they are just so amazing, you agree with me?
Traditional Layang-layang Kite ying was a hobby, passion and play for many Singaporeans in the early years. In the early years, Kite- ying was one of the favourtite 1970pastimes for the childrens in a hot sunny day. Even Lee 1978Kuan Yew, the founder of modern day Singapore andGoh Keng Swee are both on record as saying they ew ghting kites in their childhood (1920s and 1930s),indeed there is hardly a Singaporean over the age of 50or 60 years who does not recall playing with ghtingkites is his kampong during the monsoon period. The kite ghting tradition is possibly the precursor ofmodern kite ying in Singapore. When the writer arrivedin Singapore in the mid-1950s, only ghting kites wereto be seen. It seems probable that the pastime wasintroduced by immigrants from China or India.Undoubtedly, Malays in Singapore were makingtraditional wau bulan but when they came to the fore inthe early 1980s they were surprisingly modern versionsof their Malaysian counterparts, using nylon rather thanpaper for sails and graphics created from theimagination of the builder, rather than the traditionalpucok rebong (palm frond) and awan larat (leafy clouds). The kites were much heavier and more durable too. These light weight ghter kites were made in Singapore inthe 1970s. Light weight tissue paper, with hand paintedstripes of ink. These are the oldest kite that last until today.
The very first kite in Singapore is a fighter kite! Do you still remember Mr Nut’sfighter kite research?
“Modern” kite flying in Singapore In the mid 1970s people were ying both home-made traditional Chinese kites such as the centipede, Chinese-made paper and silk kites bought locally, and kites from the west purchased on travels abroad.Standing opposite the Khatib MRT Station, it is a prominent blockwith its four gigantic murals of kites. This murals able to helpSingaporeans to remember their kite ying past time.

Setting Up Your KiteWhen you buy a new kite, you should open it and look at the parts. If there are many pieces, try putting the kite together in your living room where you are out of the wind and have timeto read the instructions without the pieces blowing away. Follow the manufacturer'sinstructions and remember to put the bridles on the front, sticks on the back and tails at thebottom. Follow the instructions carefully or your kite may not y. Here are two knots you'll need to attach the end of the ying line to the kite's bridle. With these knots, you can easily undo the connection and use the ying line on another kite. Overhand knot: Use these four steps to make a loop at the end of your spool of line. Most people know how to make this knot. It's just \"around and through.\"
Lark's head knot:Use the loop to start this knot.Thisremoveable knot will allow you toattach your line to different kites.Slip the lark's head loop over theknot at the end of the kite's bridleand pull it tight. Kite’s Bridle It is IMPORTANT to know how to set up your kite by using knot! YEAH! HAHA!
Choosing a Kite and LineWhen you walk into a kite store or view kites on the web you'll be amazed at the widevariety of kites that are available in all shapes and sizes. Some things you should keep in mindwhile you choose a kite are: Materials weightSome kites use materials that are more durable Kites that are lightweight for their size usuallythan others. Paper sails are inexpensive but y best. The relationship of size to weight isfragile whereas sails made from ripstop nylon very important for ying well.or ripstop polyester are much stronger andwater-resistant. A frame of berglass rods or Shapecarbon tubes will outlast wood. The shape of the kite contributes to how Price well it ies. Often, largerkites y better than small ones, but they pullmore and require a stronger kite line.Useful tip 1 In many cases a simple kite is better for a novice than a complicated kite. Nylon delta kites, Eddy kites and sled kites are easy to set up and y.Useful tip 2 When you choose a kite, you may wish to choose a tail to go with it. Adding a tail to your kite will help it to remain stable in heavy wind and add a dramatic air.Useful tip 3 Ask for advice.Your Kite Retailer will be glad to make suggestions based on your price range, your wind range, your experience, the age of the ier and your style preferences.
Choosing Kite Dacron polyester lineFlying Line Dacron polyester line zoom in Mono lament shing line Good ying line is so strong it can be used for many years and attached to many kites. Braided, synthetic ying lines are the lines of choice today. Kites y well when using synthetic lines such as Dacron polyester because of their low weight, smoothness and small diameter. Smooth line makes it comfortable to handle. When slackened, twisted line will kink, knot and tangle much more than braided line The diameter of the ying line needs to be as small as possible to create a minimum of drag from wind resistance. This is especially true for small, lightweight kites. At the same time, the ying line must be strong enough to hold a kite in a variety of wind conditions. Learn the best strength line to use with each of your kites. Kite line is available in strengths of 20, 30, 50, 80 pounds and more.A 30-pound line, for example, will break with a strain on it of more than 30 pounds. In addition, make certain the break strength is suf cient for the winds your kite will be up against on a given day.
