NCRF Stakeholder Manager Action Plan 2020 - 2023 Authored for: National Community Radio Stations - Gauteng Authored by: Tshepo Matsepe (Stakeholder Manager)

2. Introduction Community radio is one of the most impactful mass communication platforms in Gauteng. The editorial narrative of community radio, is a lot closer to communities than any other media platform. It is for this reason that any entity, interested in mass communication to the South African masses, has to have community radio as part of their communication arsenal. The role of the newly appointed Stakeholder Manager is, to engage all communicators in Gauteng, to rekindle good relationships between the National Community Radio Forum and communicators throughout the province. The South Africa media sector has been undergoing significant changes, especially with the advent of online platforms. However, all indications are that radio, especially community radio, remain the editorial voice of grassroot communities throughout the province. The current low engagement levels between the NCRF and its institutional stakeholders, is due to the fact that the NCRF did not intensify its efforts, to remind all sectors of society about community radio's special place in the media ecosystem. The newly appointed Stakeholder Manager, should prioritise the assertions of community radio, as a compulsory platform by all mass based communicators and advertisers.
