Serving the island since his dad built sandcastles at Rocquaine We celebrate being part of island life Finance that values community

President’s welcome It’s that time of year again. It’s an early regatta this year so hopefully the July weather will be kind to us. In 2018 it was fantastic to see so many people. It was even more pleasing to see so many people actually taking part. Participation is what the regatta is all about. We see it as our job as the committee to get the equipment to the right place at the right time (with some difficulty!), and after that it is over to you. There is hopefully something for everybody, whether that is throwing the welly, swimming or rowing the bay, racing your fishing boat, pulling the crab pot, making a sandcastle, chalking the boards or just watching people having a great time. This year, we hope to see more rafts. The race will take place late lunchtime, and is the perfect start to the afternoon events. It is a very small neap tide this year, which will make things very cosy on the beach, but it will be fun! You will see in the programme that nearly all the events are sponsored by local businesses. We are very grateful for this support. It doesn’t cost a lot to put Next year’s on the regatta (which is part of the charm), but funds are essential to allow us to put on the event Rocquaine year after year. The regatta is now supported by a very wide spectrum of the island community – regatta will be onfriends, advertisers, helpers, sponsors and, most importantly our locals and visitors taking part in Saturday 25 July the events. Have a great day. 2020 Jon Free entry to Fort Grey for Rocquaine Regatta day Opening times 10.00am to 4.00pm If the weather is fine, there will be pirate-themed activities on the lawn inside the Fort from 1.00pm -3.00pm. There is no need to book and no charge. Also – have you seen the Roman ship timbers yet? The store is next to Guernsey Pearl and is open for the same time as Fort Grey.
