HEALTH & WELLNESS SPOTLIGHT I nominated Linda Hoines for \"way more than her active lifestyle at 83 years young. It is her enthusiasm and her never give up spirit that has made her my role model for the 5 years I have known her. In experimenting with a new exercise DVD lately in class, I asked her how she liked it. Her response was, \"Yes, it was challenging and faster than we are used to. I felt annoyed that I couldn't keep up but then I gave myself a pep talk! I told myself, it was new steps and it will take time to learn them. Yes, it was faster but I realized even though my steps weren't perfect, I get a much better workout than usual. It doesn't hurt to shake this bodyup now and then! And each time we do this DVD, I will get better. I won't give up as I am moving and I can adjust.\" This is why Linda Hoines deserves to be in the spotlight. - Joan Clark I am 83 years old; born and raised in northern Illinois, living in Havre, Montana and a 20 year seasonal resident of ViewPoint. Although not very well coordinated, I have always liked to move. As a youngster, I couldn't throw, catch or bat a ball, but I still liked to participate. Throughout my adult years, I found that I enjoyed moving by exercise and dancing and continued to do so. I especially like to walk; it's easy, free and fun! Everything one reads about staying well and healthy includes the value of exercise. I find that ViewPoint gives me the opportunity to move. Over the years, I have participated in the walking, hiking, line dancing, zumba, yoga, golfing and other exercise classes. I still golf, take the stretching class and I really enjoy the morning walking program and Zumba (outside the park). I also love the monthly dances, where my partner, Arlie Klabunde and I jitterbug like crazy! I feel that not only am I moving... I am working towards staying healthy and young. - Linda Hoines 41
