HOW TO REGISTER REGISTRATION IF YOU ARE A STUDENT WHO... THE OVERVIEW A Brief Description of Classes Adult High School Diploma MiraCosta College’s Adult High School prepares adults for higher education and increased employability in a supportive, challenging, and accessible environment that respects and honors diversity. Upon entrance into the program, each student’s previous coursework, skill levels, and academic and/or professional goals are determined in order to provide an individualized plan for goal attainment. Students must earn a total of 160 credits, with at least 20 credits in residence. The Adult High School is fully accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Schools, and the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) through the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). Career & College Preparation MiraCosta College offers career and college preparation for students who wish to increase their skills in preparation for college classes, for employment or advancement in the workplace, or for personal growth. These courses are offered in a variety of ways, including open enrollment, face-to-face, hybrid, and 100 percent online. (An open enrollment class means that students may enroll at any time throughout the semester.) Academic Skills classes include NCABE , NCENG and NCMTH. Workforce Preparation classes include NCWFP, NCNURS and NCVOC 42, 43, 50. Noncredit ESL (NCESL) English as a Second Language The MiraCosta noncredit ESL program offers students a variety of learning opportunities to achieve proficiency in the English language and formulate and attain personal, academic, vocational, and/or civic goals. The noncredit ESL program provides seven levels of ESL at the Community Learning Center during morning, afternoon, and evening hours, and on the weekends. The program also offers citizenship, career-track ESL, conversation classes, computer and digital literacy classes, reading and writing skills-based classes, and open-entry distance learning.
