Adult Leagues and Tournaments For more than 30 years, USTA League Tennis has beenserving up outstanding competition. What began in 1980 withjust a few thousand participants nationwide has grown into oneof the largest recreational adult leagues in the country, with morethan 800,000 players taking to the courts in 2013 alone. By theend of 2013, an estimated 10 million players across the countryhave competed in USTA League Tennis over the years. League tennis is also one of the most popular adultrecreational sports in Colorado, with 35,000 annual participants.In the last 25 years, Colorado league tennis has experiencedgrowth in 24 of them, having more than tripled in size duringthat same period. Since 1980, more than 500,000 players havecompeted in league tennis here in Colorado! USTA Colorado coordinates a dozen leagues featuring avariety of formats. There are leagues for men's teams, women'steams and mixed doubles teams. There are leagues offeringsingles play, doubles play, and combined NTRP play. Thereare brand new USTA FLEX leagues in 2014 which allowplayers to schedule their own matches. All adult leagues (withthe exception of the USTA FLEX leagues) require a USTAmembership. For the past several years, participation in the variousdivisions of adult tournament play—NTRP, Senior/Age Division,Championship, Family Doubles—has been steadily climbing asplayers of all ages and abilities are discovering the competitiveand social fun of tournament tennis.
