Earth day is observed to raise awareness about the importance of protecting our planet. It is an annual event celebrated on April 22nd every year to demonstrate support for environmental protection. It is a great time to reconnect children with nature. Worldwide, various events are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. Oasis International school celebrated 52nd anniversary of earth day to impart environmental education to its students and staff. The whole school took part in “Go- Green initiative”. A big ‘3D model of Earth’ was kept in school entrance by students with the help of both science and art teachers. Students were reminded of simple doable actions towards safe Mother Earth. On this day, Science club initiated to plant a sapling or a plant in school garden which helps us prevent global warming. Collaborated with the Department of Science, the Department of Social Science organized various activities for cycles 1 and 2. The activities were given to cycle 1 based on the theme 'Invest In our Planet' and the vision of HH Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, “Transforming desert into Green Heaven”. Students and teachers wore green attire in order to express love for the mother Earth. Cycle 2 Students were asked to prepare some write-ups where they can express their love towards Earth. All students actively participated in the classroom activities including Poster making, Classroom Wall Magazine, Wall hanging, etc. The day left a footprint in the minds of young students to preserve the Mother earth as it is the elixir of life. To raise awareness about the significance of the day, department of Science initiated to observe the day in the school. A 3D model of liver was made and placed it in the reception area of the school by science students and teachers. The day began with a speech by Bisesta Gurung from 12B about the importance of liver as a vital organ and the need to protect it against diseases such as blood clotting or an overly high cholesterol level or high blood pressure. Students of cycle 1 were given a hands on learning activity – model making of liver using papers – which was engaging and interesting to students. Followed by it, there was a PPt presentation explaining the function of the liver. Students from Cycle 2 and 3, Liver day related challenging questions were solved in classrooms. An awareness campaign was organized by science teachers and cycle 3 students on the same day which helped others to understand the liver diseases and importance of healthy lifestyle. 25 APRIL 2022 , RAMADAN 24, 1443 AH World Heritage Day is observed every year on April 18, to preserve the human heritage and recognize the efforts of the organizations working for it. It is a collective effort of the communities in the world to do what is necessary to preserve the monuments and their rich heritage. Keeping this in mind, The Department of Social Science conducted various activities for all cycles. On this day, Master Siddharth, Grade 10 A student, presented a message on World Heritage Day after the school prayer. Followed by it, the department of social science organised interesting activities like creating Photo Album - Monuments of the UAE and asked to prepare and present one minute talk on world Heritage Day for cycle 1. Poster Making on Importance of the preservation of Cultural Monuments was conducted for cycle 2 students and it was a grand success as it ensured the participation of a good number of students. In addition, Cycle 3 students were asked to prepare PPT - Cultural monuments and historical places of the UAE and India. The activities were headed by Mr Mathew Varghese, HoD of Social Science with the support and cooperation of his department teachers. All the activities were engaging and useful to students and it ensured the involvement of students in large number. 25 APRIL 2022 , RAMADAN 24, 1443 AH HOW TO GET RID OF EXAMINATION ANXIETY Dear students All the best for grade 10 and 12 CBSE Board Examination ! Most of you suffer from some degree of anxiety when you prepare or sit for an examination. Examination usually leads to a lot of tension and anxiety commonly known as examination phobia. When exams arrive, you become extremely worried and make plans about how to study, how to perform better and get good grades. Some of you find exams so difficult that the phobia makes you sick as they simply find themselves unable to cope up with the exam fear. There may be sweating, palpitations that disturb so much that you cannot think straight and end up messing up the paper. Also, in subsequent exams, it becomes worse and the fear intensifies. You may end up feeling a failure, feeling guilty and may even be suicidal! To get rid of this phobia, you have to follow a few useful tips: regular study habits, proper exercise, meditation, proper diet, highlight important points while reading, proper revision, use acronyms to remember the contents, take proper rest etc. Finally, setting a mindset to overcome the phobia is necessary by being confident and optimistic. 25 APRIL 2022 , RAMADAN 24, 1443 AH USED E-WASTE CAMPAIGN Oasis International School joins hand with the Emirates Environment Group in the ‘Green Call’ campaign and starts collecting used E- waste (all electronic materials) such as mobile, tablet, printer cartridge, washing machine, fridge, etc. Every student can collect these items and can drop their collection neatly wrapped and labelled with the student’s name and grade at the grill box near the School Security cabin. Kindly inform the class teacher the material you donated to the school. The student, who donates the maximum of E-waste materials, will be awarded with an appreciation certificate. These items will be handed over to EEG group for recycling. Parents can drop your items at school working hours between 8.00am-3.00pm. Seek your wholehearted cooperation as always. OIS Student Blooming Department Well-being is the experience of health and happiness. It includes mental and physical health, physical and emotional safety, a feeling of belonging, a sense of purpose, achievement, and success. Well-being is a broad concept and covers a range of psychological and physical abilities Well-being is essential at school because schools have an indispensable role in supporting students to make healthy lifestyle choices and understand the effects of their choices on their health and well-being. In the new academic year 2022-2023 OIS student blooming department introduced the well-being classes for the students of Grade 1 to 5. Through the well-being class, we can provide students with reliable information and deepen their understanding of the choices they face. Every month one topic will be selected, and three hands-on activities (brainstorming, mindfulness, etc..) related to the topic will be created. The students will gain knowledge through the activity. Positively impact well-being and engagement, ultimately leading to more robust results. “Students’ well-being and success in and outside school depend on their ability to use their competencies for democratic culture.
