AMMA'S MESSAGE AMRITA2N02I1D-2H2 I Looking at modern life, we see a society of plenty steeped in misery. Excessive greed has blinded mankind, and the incidence of inhumane actions is on the rise, as a result. Mental agitation and stress have caused new and hitherto unknown kinds of diseases. Humanity is at a crossroads. At present, mankind lives solely depending on science and technology. However, in light of our current situation, we should at least try to incorporate spiritual thinking, as well. Spirituality is also a science — it is a valid branch of knowledge that cannot be ignored. The scientific community is researching the physical world in an attempt to discover the secrets of the universe. In reality, spiritual scriptures recount the experiences of those who performed intense inner inquiry in order to unfold the same secrets. When we try to view spirituality through mathematics, physics and logic alone, we may fail to grasp its subtleties. We need to approach it with the faith of a child, and with the wonder that shines in a child’s mind and eyes. Renowned scientists of the past viewed the universe and its subtleties with awe and wonderment. Their research had the inquisitiveness and faith of an innocent child. In fact, many past and present eminent scientists acknowledged spirituality towards the end of their lives. But, by then it was too late. Amma prays that the scientific community leading the world today does not make this same mistake. When white sand and sugar are mixed together, it is very difficult to separate the two, even for an intelligent human being. However, the seemingly insignificant ant — representing humility — will come and easily manage to eat only the sugar. Life is a perfect combination of logic and mystery — perhaps more mysterious than logical. In all areas of life, the head and heart should go together.

AMRITA2N02I1D-2H2 I We cannot change the situations in life, but we can change the attitude towards them. - Amma We live in the age of the Internet. Wherever we go on the planet, we need to have the Internet. But, along with a connection to the Internet, we also need to rediscover our ‘Inner-net’ connection. Spirituality teaches us how to manage both our internal and external worlds. Day by day, science and technology are rapidly growing in an uncontrollable manner. Nobody knows where this growth is leading. When we look around, we see developers, producers, distributors, and consumers all seem to be caught in a frenzy to acquire the latest, greatest and largest things. The current state of humanity is like that of a child let loose in a candy store. Today, while lying in our bed we can order anything to eat, drink, watch or listen to, and it will be delivered right to our home. We don’t need to go to a store anymore to buy new or used things. There are websites for anything and everything. The internet is revolutionizing the world, which is good. Now, we can buy anything with a single click of our finger – except one thing – Love. We all have air-conditioned houses, cars and offices. But, many people cannot fall asleep in their air-conditioned rooms and must depend on sleeping pills. Some even commit suicide in their air-conditioned mansions. What does this mean? We cannot find peace of mind through external comforts alone. For this, we need to air-condition the mind. Spirituality helps to achieve this. What is happening to society? Caught up in the speed of life, mankind has forgotten basic human values; we belittle their significance. We attempt to justify all the violence and unrighteousness we commit, from the individual level to the international level. We then thrust our rationalization of these actions on the rest of society. There have been problems in the world from the beginning of time. For ages, society has suffered from war, conflict, discrimination based on caste, creed, and social position, as well as disharmony in the family. But, our ancestors had a different outlook on life. They had an inherent awareness of three factors – humans, nature, and the invisible power that harmoniously unites them. Their vision of life did not only take into account the physical existence of individuals and nature. They believed in a power that forms the foundation of nature and every living being; an invisible power that connects all beings with nature. They recognized this power as the most important part of life. They also believed that all of nature and each and every living being in the universe are like beads of variable forms and sizes, strung on a single thread of creation. This is why they gave so much importance to sharing, caring, consideration and empathy. Today, we have labeled this mentality as ‘primitive,’ rejecting their way of living.

AMRITA2N02I1D-2H2 I From the ADMINISTRATOR'S DESK Brni. REKHA N Integrated approach to Inner transformation…. Education is at present concerned with outward efficiency, and it utterly disregards, or deliberately perverts, the inward nature of man; it develops only one part of him and leaves the rest to drag along as best it can. To educate the student rightly is to help him to understand Life in totality; for it is only when there is integration of the mind and heart in everyday action that there can be intelligence and inward transformation. While offering information and technical training, education should above all encourage an integrated outlook on life; it should help the student to recognize and break down in himself all social distinctions and prejudices, and discourage the acquisitive pursuit of power and domination. It should encourage the right kind of self-observation and the experiencing of life as a whole, which is not to give significance to the part, to the \"me\" and the \"mine,\" but to help the mind to go above and beyond itself to discover the real. Human beings are like a child who looks at the sky through his window and says, “That is my sky.” We reduce Nature and life in general to something insignificant. If we could really understand life, we would appreciate its magnitude and see just how small we are in comparison. Human beings must be integrated if they are to come out of any crisis, and especially the present world crisis, without being broken; therefore, the main problem is how to develop an integrated individual. To do this, the educator himself must obviously be integrated; Teaching should not become a specialist's profession. When it does, as is so often the case, love fades away; and love is essential to the process of integration. To be integrated there must be freedom from fear. Fearlessness brings independence without ruthlessness, without contempt for another, and this is the most essential factor in life. The integrated human being will experience the creative impulse in him and create his own technique which is the greatest art. When a child has the creative impulse to paint, he paints, he does not bother about technique. Likewise people who are experiencing, and therefore teaching, are the only real teachers, and they too will create their own technique. This sounds simple, but it is really a deep revolution. If we think about it we can see the extraordinary effect it will have on society. At present most of us are tired and done at the age of forty-five or fifty by slavery to routine; through compliance, through fear and acceptance, we are finished, though we struggle on in a society that has very little meaning except for those who dominate it and are secure. If the teacher sees this and is himself really experiencing, then whatever his temperament and capacities may be, his teaching will not be a matter of routine but will become an instrument of help with love and concern. Cont. on the next page

AMRITA2N02I1D-2H2 I say matters infinitely, because it creates the environment, which builds or breaks the child. Obviously, then, those of us who are deeply interested in this problem will have to begin to understand ourselves and thereby help to transform society; we will make it our direct responsibility to bring about a new approach to education. If we love our children, will we not find a way of putting an end to war? But if we are merely using the word \"love\" without substance, then the whole complex problem of human misery will remain. The way out of this problem lies through ourselves. We must begin to understand our relationship with our fellow men, with nature, with ideas and with things, for without that understanding there is no hope, there is no way out of conflict and suffering. The bringing up of a child requires intelligent observation and care. Experts and their knowledge can never replace the parents' love, but most parents corrupt that love by their own fears and ambitions, which condition and distort the outlook of the child. Most of us are vastly taken up with the appearance of love. The influence of the home and that of the school must not be in any way contradictory, so both parents and teachers must re-educate themselves. The contradiction which so often exists between the private life of the individual and his life as a member of the group creates an endless battle within himself and in his relationships. If those of us who love our children and see the urgency of this problem will set our minds and hearts to it, then, however few we may be, through right education and an intelligent home environment, we can help to bring about integrated human beings. Right education comes with the transformation of our own selves. We must re-educate ourselves not to destroy or kill one another for any cause, however righteous, for any ideology, however promising it may appear to be for the future happiness of the world. We must learn to be compassionate, to be content and to seek the Supreme knowledge, for only then can there be the true salvation of mankind. This universe keeps flowing, following its own rhythm, harmony and tune. Thus, human beings need to chart the path of their lives according to the tune and rhythm of Nature. Otherwise, life will automatically become a battle. When we exclusively chase sense pleasure, we won’t be able to attune to our inner self. The human body is just a single aspect of our existence. The ultimate truth of life is the Self—our true essence. Its dwelling place is within. To realise this, we need to develop a spiritual perspective, do spiritual practices and perform good actions. This in turn helps develop an open mind that accepts every person and circumstance as they are so that we begin to truly experience the sweetness of life. Aum tat sat !

AMRITA2N02I1D-2H2 I From the PRINCIPAL'S DESK Mrs. Kanchan Dayal Om Namah Shivaya!! Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Willing is not enough; we must do.\" Greetings! -Johann Wolfgang von Goethe I extend my warm greetings and congratulate all on yet another successful year and the beginning of an activity enriched new year. I feel privileged to be associated with the students, parents and team of Amrita Vidyalayam. Students you have proved that the values, skills and knowledge you have gained over the years by being a part of Amrita Vidyalayam, is like a shield and competence that guided you even in a hostile situation like the pandemic. My belief is that every child is like a seed which has the potential to grow if it is nourished with love and care under the right guidance. And right training and effort is the means to achieve all that one can dream of. For us, education is not just confined to the books or till the matter of subjects or to make the students passive receivers. It is to develop their knowledge by experiences and by actually making them an active participant. In the current challenging and ever changing time, it is essential that children not only excel in academics but should also develop a smart personality and acquire the 21st century skills along with a sense of responsibility. It is important that they grow intellectually, culturally, morally and emotionally. It has and will be our sincere endeavour to ensure that the core values of every child are nurtured and every student is understood, valued and attended to. Our practices include continuous redesigning of our teaching methodology to impart experiential, art integrated and competency based learning experience so that students link theoretical knowledge with practical usage. Along with academics, Yoga & Meditation, Public Speaking, Values, Art & Music, Cultural activities and many other prospects are a part of the regular school routine. I take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the Management of Amrita Vidyalayam for linking me as a trusted member of this institution. My goals and ethics in life are to continue giving services in the field of education by managing an institution with integrity and to ensure that righteousness, good values and wisdom never stops growing. I am dedicated to bring out the best in the students and make them proficient in this multicultural competent society. Children, my suggestion to you is that never limit yourself as we live in a limitless world with endless possibilities. Partake in all opportunities that come your way. Remember that even the word IMPOSSIBLE says I-M- POSSIBLE. You should believe that the Team of AV is always here for you and we can be approached for all your queries. I urge students to be more interactive and participative in the class and make the best use of the blended learning process for their benefit. Showcase the proficiency acquired and always strive to improvise yourself. Remember, the Mantras for success are - Respectful nature, Right attitude and Perseverance – hardwork & determination. Your BELIEF that ‘You Can and You Will achieve’ will definitely hit the jackpot. With best wishes, I remain Sincerely Kanchan Dayal

AMRITA2N02I1D-2H2 I From the EDITOR'S DESK Ms. Jeetika Unnithan ||OM NAMAHA SHIVAYA|| “Whatever may be your offering to God, what pleases him most is the attitude of your heart behind the offering.” Dear Reader, — Amma Greetings to all !!! Very few have realised that wealth of sympathy , kindness and generosity is hidden in the soul of a child, and every educator's role is to unlock this treasure. Amrita Vidyalayam is an excellent example where everyone strives indefatigably for this. We are pleased to present to you \"AMRITANIDHI 2021-22\" , the e -Magazine. We have tried to bring up exhilarating flashback of all the school events and achievements of the previous year because life is all about cherishing our memories and achievements. The pandemic has taught us to live in a dynamic world where sorting unseen problems as the new norm has emerged. The rapid change in the use of technology opened new avenues of teaching and learning for all of us. Although this year was challenging and full of unexpected changes, the school ensured a memorable, interactive and engaging distance and blended learning experience for our students. This included academics and fun-learning activities through various events, celebrations, club activities and Amrita Fest which was successfully conducted. At Amrita Vidyalayam, we help in fostering values of courtesy, consideration and individual responsibility to every student and create a holistic curriculum with interactive and inter disciplinary approach for our students. By the grace and blessings of Amma, I could accomplish my role with a platform to showcase our student's innate talents and potentials. I owe my sincere thanks to all those who rendered their valuable suggestions and prestigious time for the publication of this magazine. Amrita Vidyalayam has been soaring high to success which was made possible by our dear Amma who envisioned this institution as the epitome of education. Inspite of the challenging times, the consistent support from Rekha ma'am (the school Administrator),Kanchan ma'am (the school Principal),the Co-Ordinators and all teachers ensured a smooth transition from events to the final shape of the e-magazine. I believe you would enjoy reading the magazine and rekindle the profound happiness once again as you gear up for the next academic year shortly. NOTHING IS PERMANENT

AMRITA2N02I1D-2H2 I From the PRIMARY HM's DESK Ms.Monikarani Suleria \"Our educational system needs to give equal importance to the intellect and the heart.” -Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Amma) The above words of our beloved Amma sums up what’s education like at Amrita Vidyalayam. A perfect balance between top-notch education and traditional Indian values. As students today need to be not only prepared academically but also well verse with the roots of our values, that would shape them into an adult who can handle and overcome any situation in their lives. The academic and co-scholastic curriculum at Amrita has been carefully structured for a holistic approach towards education. Students are engaged in activity based learning which helps them to learn and grow throughout from formative years to adolescence. School life is the crucial time period for shaping children’s future. The activities also focus on physical, psychological and spiritual well-being for the holistic development of the child. Students not only participate in science exhibitions, Olympiads but also practice yoga and meditation regularly. Students are also made aware of environment conversation from a very young age so that they become sensitized and eco-friendly individuals. I am blessed to be of some service to Amma and also to be a part of Amrita family. Since inception there has been a tremendous growth both in terms of school and myself during the years of association with the institution. Our staff is groomed to be supportive and caring, thereby upholding the human value system at School. Every day we learn and apply our learning to the best of our capacity in our service to the School. Rekha ma’am (Brni.Sharanyamrita Chaitanya) has created a very encouraging and learning environment that brings out the best out of everyone right from students, teachers to the administration staff of school. The goal of education is not just imparting knowledge but also imbibing it in a responsible manner. For this to happen the culture and value system of students are made strong right from kindergarten at Amrita. Students who get opportunity to study at Amrita Vidyalayam are not only lucky but blessed by Amma’s infinite grace through well- balanced system of learning.

AMRITA2N02I1D-2H2 I From the ACADEMIC INCHARGE'S DESK Mrs. Beena Menon Due to our preconceptions regarding education , we fail to inquire into the most obvious and wondrous field of study – Ourselves’. -AMMA Keeping this inspired quote of AMMA in mind as a spark, We the Amritians look forward to kindle the light in our students by providing them a safe and intellectually challenging environment which empowers students to be life long learners, critical thinkers and responsible members of an everchanging global society, We aspire to provide them with strong roots and powerful wings to face this competitive world with confidence leaving no stone unturned. My experience as an Academic In charge in this esteemed institution is extremely enriching and incredible. We have a wonderful team of supportive and phenomenal teaching faculties who always believe that ‘The Supreme Art of teacher is to awaken joy in creative expressions and knowledge’. Teachers, as credible guides and embodiment of patience are always ready to help students with all might and intention across their defining phases of lives thus able to apply the 21st century skills to successfully negotiate every turn of life . This Pandemic made us to reshape the mechanisms of imparting lessons. We shifted the teaching learning process online , equipping our teachers to navigate through technology with ease with the abled guidance of School Management. We ensured that students should not miss any aspects of school life. We had a full fledged schedule for Academics, Assessments, Evaluation, Celebration of important events and Club activities. When school reopened in phased manner our teaching learning process gradually got transformed into Hybrid Model of learning where both online and offline classes are conducted simultaneously thus adopting a New Normal of learning. Though challenging, teachers through constant dedication and sincere efforts, could traverse smoothly & successfully through New Normal of learning even in this unprecedented times. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to our management team and Administrator Ms. Rekha who has been my pillar of strength and the guiding light to discharge my duties efficiently. My sincere thanks to Principal Ms. Kanchan for her unstincted support in all ventures. It is a beginning of a long journey indeed. Let us all co-operate , co- ordinate and collaborate in bringing the desired change and making a difference however small it may be. Wishing for greater possibilities and many continued years of service in Amrita.

AMRITA2N02I1D-2H2 I FROM THE PRE-PRIMARY IN-CHARGE'S DESK Ms. Neeta Avasti A SIMPLE FORMULA FOR A HAPPY LIFE : Never try to defeat anyone, Instead, just try to win everyone.Don't laugh at anyone, instead laugh with everyone. -AMMA Amrita Vidyalayam, as the name itself conveys, pours the nectar of knowledge blended with value and culture and paves the way for holistic growth. Our life is a journey where we learn and experience something new every day. We, at Amrita Nursery, understand that children require a healthy and a supportive environment to grow. We take utmost care in garnishing their emotional and moral development. Our beloved ‘Amma’ has inculcated the seed of belief that the development of knowledge in every child can be possible with compassion, love and moral support. This is practiced by our Amrita Nursery teachers. They not only impart value-based education, but also ensure competent and constant growth of our little ones. The chanting of “Shlokas” which are taught and practiced every day makes the children mentally strong, unique and helps them become disciplined to see things in the right perspective. The academics here at Amrita Nursery is ‘fun-based’ learning as various activities help our little ones to think out-of-the-box. The past year flew with many uncertain circumstances, but our teachers stood strong to cope up with them and managed to handle both online and offline classes with utmost patience. With the blessings of Sadguru Amma, I have completed my first year in this organisation. I extend my sincere thanks to our dear Administrator, Ms.Rekha who has always been my guiding angel as she allowed me to explore my inner strengths. I also take this opportunity to express my gratitude to our respected Principal, Ms. Kanchan Dayal who patiently provided me with solutions whenever needed. I appreciate the efforts put in by our wonderful team of teachers and the constant support of all Amrita Nursery parents, who have been supportive throughout and enthusiastically allowed your ward to be a part of this unique temple of learning – AMRITA. || LOKAH SAMASTHA SUKHINO BHAVANTU: ||

Right from Yoga and Pranayam, to Zumba and gym exercise, one has a variety of choices to select from. Swimming, cycling, Taekwondo are just a few to be named. Remember that physical health and inner strength cannot be replaced by any supplements. HEALTHY INDIA, BEAUTIFUL INDIA !!!

AMRITA2N02I1D-2H2 I INDEPENDENCE DAY IT IS NOT WHAT YOU DO FOR YOUR CHILDREN, BUT WHAT YOU HAVE TAUGHT THEM TO DO FOR THEMSELVES, THAT WILL MAKE THEM SUCCESSFUL HUMAN BEINGS. - ANN LANDERS A proud moment as we Indians step united into celebrating our 75th Independence Day. It was on 15th August 1947 that India was declared independent from British colonialism, and the reins of control were handed over to the leaders of the Country. Mr.Ravi Kalantre unfurled the National Flag in presence of a few AV staff members, which was followed by the National Anthem. He guided us to be responsible citizens of the nation, which would further help the young generation to follow the path of discipline and love for the country. Amrita Vidyalayam students paid their gratitude towards all the bravehearts and celebrated this day with much devotion. Students created some iconic memories by celebrating the day virtually. They made tricolour fans, greetings, pulses tiranga, wristband, sandwiches and many more to even name. The higher graders opted for a more realistic approach by their songs, dance and PPTs.

AMRITA2N02I1D-2H2 I SANSKRIT DAY 22nd August was observed as the World Sanskrit Day (also known as Sanskrit Diwas). Being the first spoken and oldest language, Sanskrit holds significance in the ancient history of India. It is also considered as the ‘Dev Vani’ which translates to the ‘language of Gods.’ Despite all this, Sanskrit is not getting the recognition it deserves. As a result, World Sanskrit Day is celebrated all across the country in order to promote the resurgence and preservation of this language. Our school Sanskrit teacher briefed about the history of this ancient language and how it is grabbing attention across the world currently. Students chanted a few vedic mantras, penned few lines on the importance of the language and presented some interesting PPTs. While flower decorated thalis stole our hearts, mandala art rakhis and the rangoli in rakhi shape too were in the row. Activities which leave an impression for a lifetime are the actual learnings’ of life and we all must cherish each moment of them.
