Thelfiya Mariyam Ist BA English Internet Influence Childrens In the past few years, there has been a rapid increase in internet users. Among the users most users are children and it had rapidly increasing day by day. Internet is useful for children. But it had merit and demerit. Using the internet by playing games and learning from it increase creativity and team work among children. Using internet for study increases the knowledge and that increases the confidence of the students. But students are not using internet in this hint of manner. They spent their time with chatting with others in social medias such as whatsApp, face book, instagram etc. Children’s were forced to play indoor games like Pubg, Mini Mitta etc. They forget to play outdoor games which considered our traditional games like hide and seek etc. A year or two back, an online game called Blue whale killed thousands of children all around the world. This game provokes children to attempt to suicide at the last stage. This game provokes many difficult tasks and they need to do this heavy task at a sequential time. The final result for that game is death. Internet there will be cheating and spoiling some ones life. In social media the first chat begins with an annoyer later chat would be like the annoyer become some time special person in your life. The chatter will be very reluctant to talk about their private life but then they were go to the internet and they are much more open. Even though they share every thing with that annoyer. Using the internet in proper way, it would good for you and your life. The only one think I am remind you that – “Sook- shial Dhukkikenda…..’’ 11 \\ The Ignite

Shamila Shamsudheen Enigmatic Vines It was the mid hour of night. The room seemed pitch black without a speck dark room. And she was alone in this deep dark room. She could only discern this mysterious color and pick some enigmatic vibes. She had no idea of how she got into this room. She thought for a while and decided find the door to get out of that room. She was about to move a step, before she does someone have already done it. Yes, she heard the wide strange footsteps. She ceased her breath for a while out of fear. Yes, she could hear that obnoxious whiff which was also strange. It was not human, she could feel the presence of a giant creature. The footsteps was getting louder. Yes, the creature is off to me, she realised. She stood steady. She felt that worse whiff on her face. Yes, it is in front of her. That creature, kept its hands on her shoulder and shouted “get up…get up… its morning” Huh!! it was all my dreams, she thought with a great relief. she opened her eyes…. expecting her mommy in front of her. But is was again the deep dark room. She was struggling to find the reality… Let this also be a dream… she prayed. Mystery continuous… 13 \\ The Ignite

The Girl and the 21st Century 27 \\ The Ignite

Mubshira PTK Ist MB 70% women feel unsafe in “Gawahati survey”. Girl molested, friend beaten up in Andhra’. Chennai dance teacher arrested for molesting. It your old girl. Child marriage of girls again on the rise. And we all say we have in more liberal world. Yes, it is true that the 21st century we have wit- nessed a lot a positive changes in the field of women rights and protection. The society and the government has gone to a great extent to empower women. The Government has made sure to provide free education to girls and it also focuses on em- ploying to girls and it also focuses on employing women in various sectors of the industries. They are provided with special scholarship and rights. It indeed is a good relief that women today enjoy almost all the freedom and advantages that men enjoy. Yet, women are not completely willing to step out of this comfort zone nor are they cou- rageous to break out of their stereotypical minds. No matter how forward the world goes. There is still some fear at the back of the women’s mind that stops them from being bold enough. and why isn’t the fear still not wiped out ? Why aren’t women still not feeling safe? The answer is in our minds. Yes, our mind set is the problem. The Government has introduced may rights, rules and schemes in favour of women, but those rules aren’t properly implemented. It has not got to the root of our brain and our society thus remaining as typical as ever. Even in this new millennium, we witnesses discrimination and molestation against women so abundantly that we are scarily remember now that men and women are called equal. So many of cases world wide, accusing women that it is obvious that women fear to embrace her true freedom. Women has now created her own cocoon so that at least in that tiny space, she feels safe. The sad truth is that even small girls aren’t spared. Belt for the birth, education, marriage, job, carrier. money, mating, women always have to face a frown from the society. They are still looked upon and women as if was quite natural, have now based to live with it. But we can’t let this go on. We ought to break the conventional thinking of the society and make ourselves free. It is high time we acknowledged the fact that the true freedom is about the mind to break all barriers. We should start thinking beyond the box and say not to women molestation, after all they should be considered as human beings prior to everything else. The Ignite /28

A new force behind change Every person matters and when a group of people are committed to something they can change it for the better. In today’s society youth are capable and educated individuals who understand the importance of exercising their opinions. They are the new force behind change. Youth has a very important role to play for the society. it is also because they are young, full of energy and educated with rationality as their ultimate belief. They are the backbone to the nation. They can change the future of the society with their well being and courageous be- havior. Today’s youth is tomorrow’s nation. It is these young people who will become the leaders of tomorrow. It is therefore important to mature their voice and engage youth, pro- viding them with necessary skills to identify issues and help them act upon these issues. They should not only be viewed as the leaders of tomorrow, they can be the leaders of today. Voice of the youth are important because discussions and policies made today will direct- ly affect us as we inherit the future. They have the capacity to have our various heard at the decision making talk. Their voice in activism is important as it is an instrument in driving social changes like advocating for the rights of women and girls, promoting access to quality health care, education and gender equality. Thus bringing about a development in our society. Every morning, headlines about violence hit the news paper. In Indian the headlines about a rapid rise in gross violation of human rights. Today, violation coloured with race, creed, caste, gender and politics seems to have entered the very fluoric of our society like a cancer it is spread- ing throughout the globe. When atrocities take place, instead of being filled with empathy, some begin to analyze the victim’s caste, creed or race. We become so blinded that we are not able to stand for the truth. When a daughter in India is raped, every Indian should hang down his or her head in shame. We need to make changes in how we think and move as human kind. 31 \\ The Ignite

Dana Pradeep IInd BA English “We can change the world and make it a better place. It is in your hands to make a difference.” – Nelson Mandela The right to speak is a form of wealth that is being redistributed. Silence is what allows peo- ple to suffer without recourse, allows hypocrisies and lives to grow and flourish and crimes to go unpunished. If our voices are essential aspects of our humanity, to be rendered voice- less is to be dehumanized or excluded from one’s humanity. Speech, voices and words some- times change things in themselves when they bring about recognition. Sometimes they are the only hope to changing rules, laws and regimes to bring about justice and liberty. Mahatma Gandhi famously said : you must be the change you wish to see in the world”. We always have the opportunity to transform fear into courage, selfishness into kind- ness and loss into fresh beginnings. Life is about taking chances without knowing what is going to happen next. The initiative to bring about change lies within us. We have the right to say what we think, express our hopes and wishes and dreams and a better world. The power of youth is one of the strongest weapon of a nation. The dreams of youth can not only change the nation. But it can also bring revolution in the whole world. The opinion and participation of youth is too important for a country lies in the hands of youth. They have ambition, enthusiasm, vision, dreams and aims. They have the courage to fight against every unjust things i8n society. Youths are the group who are always on the way of development regardless and they fight for each and every unjust that they see around them. They have to fight to make an identity in society which is probable by now a society of wild animals. Ager may be art, age amy be wisdom, but youth represents hope. No matter how good or bad the present is, the future will be shaped by the enlightened minds of the next generation. We can not always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future. The leaders of today will pass, leaving the world in the hands sof youth. From being the harbingers of a new age, the trumpet bearers of tomorrow, to being a massive, determined force with in- finite potential, they are the shapers of the world. For the world is theirs and they are the world. The Ignite /32

Shared Experience by Irom Chanu Sharmila Mengoubi “Iron Lady of Manipur” Once I had a opportunity to be a part of a program conducted at SH COLLAGE on the behalf of 150th NSS CAMP named as “SMARANANJALI CAMP” The program was inaugurated by Iron chanu Sharmila “Iron lady of Manipur”(Mengoubi). From the huge gathering of students out there, each students from different district got a opportunity to ask a question about her 16 year challenging life. By representing Calicut District, I got the opportunity to interview her for few minutes! It was a pleasure, to be a part of the program. And I would like to share a few of mine and my teammates questions and the respective replies by the inspirational lady Iron Sharmila One of the student from the audience asked her about the dress she weared in the inauguration ceremony(on the occasion she was wearing a little bit reading of Manipuri traditional)she replied with a beautiful smile on her face, that she was too much use to her traditional dresses and it’s her preference. And second question was from a girl, she was crisp and clear about her question i,e iron Sharmila entered politics with a hope to ‘accel- erate the repeal of Armee Forces special process and later she call the remove’ what’s the opinion about this? Iron Sharmila replied: For continuance of her unfulfilled struggle, as part of it she went to Kashmi, also this draconian law still applied there but in Kashmi their real demand is not just for draconian law but they want getting free from “jihadi” and about lots of other horrible laws already they are facing. She also mentioned that attending of the program was also a continuous of her struggles because in a demo- cratic country such a kind of law is giving immunity for killing, murder, rapping etc..! Just like Indian system of administration it’s undemocratic people colonial rulers, which was applied to non-locals I mean those who yet against their separation but this Korean India and administration just imitated death law only scenes in names. She just want to be visualized by yourselves as you’d if you won’t be administor one day or the lawyer or one day someone who want to have see some sense in the society. 33 \\ The Ignite

Another girl out there asked: As a social activist what is the advice you have for the youth now? She politely replied: ‘she is NOT a advisor’. Other question raised from the audience that was, we all know that you have led 16 year long hunger strike and after that you conduct in a election so you think that polices is crucial to bring about some change in this country and do you think your failure in the election was a failure of humanity? She replied: Because of the system of politics it’s not just because these people settlement, many are like this type of idolisation mainly they idolised her. If an object opportu to god they don’t want me have emotion or voice or nothing else as a sacrifice team the main hector was there and in Indian politics right now it’s so many money based and power based, people not knowing themselves involved in this system and Manipur is poor in financially backward those poor families and buying boats is big enough for them for some just in short term or something it would be helpful and they would expect from congress I would get ₹2000 or ₹1000 from BJP or CPI just they would seem like they’re it’s source had this kind of mentality and youngsters mainly the CNS is they would just follow blindly to their parents or elders mindset our patten id congress Walker our mother is this debt that kind of irresponsible. Next question was about, the current status of a FSB the Armed forces special power Act ? She replied : Recently she heard of the applying of immunity power given to armies is just spread to other non obscure im- poses areas in the north i,e. Irrespective of up spots in position or not Indian Korean administration system policy is to sup- press all collectively instead of just looking for some alternative ways. Do you think non violence is the most powerful tool against compartmentalisation discrimination even now in 2019? She replied : I think, I’m a non violent person as we ration be- ings are suitable to non violence just until these violent trctics in every life won’t solve problems human nature though we know we are servile and we study and we grow up we climb up to them from that gap question we be that kind of that nature of non violent Ness this calmness this beautiness, i still pet in non violence and there always be in non violent way of life “Proud to be part of this program and we wish no other women should face this experience in our country anymore” The Ignite /34
