LEILA JEROME CLAY Dr. Clay is the division chief of hematology and director of the sickle cell program in the Johns Hopkins All Children's Cancer & Blood Disorders Institute. She is an assistant professor of pediatrics in the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Clay treats children, adolescents and young adults with rare blood disorders such as sickle cell disease and thalassemia. Trained in both pediatrics and internal medicine, she plays the key role of a physician navigator in transitioning adolescents with these diseases to adult care. She has established her research in sickle cell disease where she studies the mechanistic contribution of vitamin D deficiency and its effects of disease manifestation of sickle cell disease as well as bone disease. Her primary professional objective is to translate her clinical research to the field. Dr. Clay received the Johns Hopkins All Children’s award for Excellence in Service and Professionalism in the 2019 Johns Hopkins Medicine Clinical Excellence Awards. Dr. Clay earned her medical doctorate from Morehouse School of Medicine. She completed her Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residency at Rutgers University/New Jersey Medical School. She finished her pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at University of North Carolina Hospitals with a research focus in lifespan care of sickle cell disease. She speaks French, Haitian Creole and Spanish.

On staff in the Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery Department at the University of South Florida as a Volunteer Faculty Member, Dr. Taylor is also affiliated with St. Joseph’s Baycare Hospital here in Tampa. From 1990-1999, Dr. Taylor served as the Chief of Dermatology at MacDill Air Force Base. He has successfully been in private practice since 1992. As a Tampa dermatologist, Dr. Taylor is committed to his patients’ health through specialized and individualized care for all patients. Mrs Jones was a very talented woman, not only was she a nurse at Mercy and Bayfront Hospitals, during segregation, but she was also employed by Eckerd College Student Medical Center. Mrs. Brayboy Jones was born in Louisiana where she first learned to cook Creole style from her own mother. Later she catered to celebrity musicians. She showcased the authenticity of New Orleans savory flavors in her cooking. She had a history of giving back to the community. That legacy continues as Elihu and Carolyn unveil their tribute to Mrs. Brayboy Jones.... The all new “Chiefs” Creole Cafe, which opened in her honor November, 1 2014.
