Verb pattern 1. Read the paragraph. Pay attention to the underlined words. Teenagers want to look good, but they don't always have a lot of money to spend. They like wearing the same clothes as their friends. They hate to feel different or uncool. They don't like to wear the same styles as their parents! They usually prefer wearing casual clothes like jeans and t-shirts. They want to wear trendy clothes.

Verb pattern The verbs like, love, prefer, and hate follow the pattern: OR verb + verb-ing + adjective / noun verb + infinitive + adjective / noun I like wearing bright t-shirts. I like to wear bright t-shirts.

Verb pattern The verb want can only follow the pattern: verb + infinitive + adjective / noun I want to put on a warm sweatshirt.
