DISTRICT TRAINER “Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.” – Martin Luther King Jr. The First Rotaract District Newsletter for the Rotary Year 2021-22 is one such first step in faith, wherein the Rotaract District’s image lies upon, as a Newsletter is like a mirror of the District. What a righteous name for a newsletter – SANVEDNA! In simple words – to feel. Let us all strive to feel the Rotaract movement: feel its energy, feel its compassion, and to feel its joy. I take this platform to congratulate the DRR Rtn. Rtr. Rajarshi Sinha for a superb start of the tenure and I am confident that with his calm nature and hard dedication, he will take the District to greater heights. A leader is not incomplete until his team works with the same enthusiasm, and I am ecstatic to witness the zeal with which the Rotaract District Council 2021-22 is continuing the legacy, which really makes me proud as the District Trainer. The compilation and editing work of a newsletter: collecting good will messages, project reports, project pictures, articles, letters, etc. and finally giving a final touch is an arduous job which lies upon the shoulders of the District Editor, for which I applause the endeavor that Rtr Swapnoneel Sarkar has clasped. My best wishes to the readers of the newsletter and specially to my dear Rotaractors of RID 3240. Keep Rotaracting and Happy Reading! Innovate & Retain Rotaract… With Love and Regards, Rtn. Dr. Mantu Paul (PT) PDRR District Trainer RID 3240, India PAGE THREE | SANVEDNA
DRR Warm Rota greetings! Dear readers, First of all I wish you all a very Happy Durga Puja. Congratulations on completion of first quarter of Rotary Year 2021-22. Your level of quality work remains unprecedented in our organization. The way you handled the projects/events showed resilience, experience, knowledge, and critical thinking. I hope to look for the same for the rest part of the tenure. It has been a proud moment for me to appreciate the efforts of my District council members working meticulously despite of my physical injuries. I see how the zeal and optimism is bloating to complete the various projects for the months of July, August and September. Lastly, I would appreciate and congratulate Rtr. Swapnoneel Sarkar, District editor and Rtr. Bidisha Sukai, District joint editor for putting up necessary efforts to get this work done. I wish Sanvedna shall be circulated and well read by the Rotary Family and beyond. I wish this hard time pass soon and we keep on holding together to provide each other's hand to serve better in unison and apt way. Yours loving and ever supportive, Rtn. Rtr. A newsletter helps its reader to get updated by the happenings, and I hope this newsletter will enhance our relationship and knowledge. My heartiest congratulations to District Editorial Team for their outstanding efforts to make this an excellent edition. Be humble and stay kind. #Jay_Rotaract Regards Rtn. Rtr. Mrs. Malabika Guha, Expressive Arts Therapy Practitioner, Creative Sphere, Kolkata took up this session. We had participation from our sponsored Interact Clubs and other local private and government schools as well. The session was to instill motivation and enthusiasm and to address their ease in the wake of the pandemic. BOLPUR SANTINIKETAN We, the members were able to witness a revolutionary invention through our project on demonstration of plastic to fuel conversion by Dr. Punyabrata Chakraborty. He has received the patent for the machine that he has invented by the Government of India. The working and principle of the machine involves burning of plastic at high temperatures to yield both gas and liquid. The produced gas can be used for cooking and the produced liquid can be used for fuel in vehicles. This demonstration was undertaken on the day of our installation in front of all the guests to raise a concern against use of plastic as well as to use the plastic waste in something useful. We had presented a token of appreciation and certificate to Dr. Punyabrata Chakraborty for his invention. PAGE TWENTY NINE | SANVEDNA
