Thus we are guided by ourevangelical heritage and a vision that is rightly rooted in theword of God. We have seen God's hands at work in recentyears and we are encouraged to confess that He is still atwork to move us to a higher ground as a college of theologythat aspires to be an international institution. We dailyexamine ourselves in the light of this vision. It is delightful therefore to report that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has beenformally signed between our college and the Uganda Christian University. We are exploringsimilar relationship with an evangelical Anglican theological college that we hope will matureat a later date.BOARD MEETINGSOur College Board Meetings held twice during the year under review with a new Chairman inperson of the Most Revd G. REPORTS TO THE THIRD SESSION OF THE ELEVENTH SYNOD.STUDENTS We had a remarkable growth in the number of students in college this year. Ourfirst year ordination students are 57 while those doing the U. I. degree are 11 the first time everto get such a number on our University of Ibadan degree programme. Similarly we have 7 oldstudents who returned to upgrade their certificates to qualify for the Bachelor of Theologydegree that we started four years ago. This is very good for us, as it shows our approval ratingamong clergy and bishops. Altogether we have 203 full-time students on roll this academicyear including some non-Anglicans enrolled for our Bachelor of Theology and Bachelor ofArts degrees.ACCOMMODATION PROBLEMThe obvious and immediate challenge for us is the pressure on our facilities, especiallyaccommodation. Consequently, we are proposing to commence the building of a modernstudents' hall of residence to help ease off the problem of accommodation. We will be gratefulto receive any help towards this project, which we believe to be an urgent one. Individuals arealso welcome to contact us to undertake any other projects in their name.SPIRITUALITY PROGRAMMEAs a college providing holistic training of clergy, we have continued to emphasise theimportance of spiritual development and growth alongside our rigorous academicprogrammes. Our Spirituality programme is second to none. We begin every week with 'JesusPrayer' followed by uplifting and refreshing praise worship. Our students continue to identifythis as a very important aspect of their college life. Students are also involved in weeklyevangelism and outreach programmes to a nearby village as well as undertake prison andhospital visitations. Our finalist students also undergo Haggai Leadership Training inpartnership with the Akure Chapter of Haggai Alumni.NEW ENGLISH COURSEOur first year students resumed early this academic session to undergo an intensive coachingin English language. This was our initiative to help deal with the noticeable languageproblems among our students. We intend to continue with this, and hope that it will greatlyhelp them.CLERGY SCHOOL and CONFERENCESWe will be pleased to host dioceses or groups for meetings, conferences and clergy schoolsat a reasonable cost using our improving facilities. Please contact us. 3SUMMER PROGRAMMESThe college part-time BTh and TMM courses have now entered their second yearrespectively. These courses have been specially designed to move us away from religiousstudies to doing real theology.BA(Min) Degree. The Board of Governors have now approved the upgrading of the TMMcourse to a Bachelor of Arts degree in Ministry (BA Min). This is a ground breaking part-timedegree programme that differs from the BTh. The Diploma in Theology will now be awarded toonly those who cannot make the BTh or BA (Min) degrees. 1 2 1“THE MARKS OF JESUS: THE CHRISTIAN'S INNER QUALITIES AND CHARACTERISTICS.” SAT. 3RD – WED. 6TH MAY, 2014.

The Anglican Church in Warri Diocese is among the group of Churches that are to be commended for this passionate task. The Bishop Rt. Rev. C.E. Ide (JP) is appreciated for his encouragement.Apart from the ministration of the WORD and PRAYERS which are the primary duties ofthis ministry some Churches and societies have benevolently assisted the prisonauthority in the provision of some basic logistics and welfare. This is helping in thereformation of the inmates and enhancement of security in the society.Much thanks and blessing of God to the Council of Knights of Warri Diocese who visitedthe prison on 31st October, 2014 and after ministering the word, made a donation of ahigh class pumping machine to improve the availability of portable water for theinmates. God we thank you. TheDiscipleship home cell has been transformed from several stages into maturity, men/womenare getting involved in the activities of soul winning and doing the works of discipleship andministry. However, we are still hungry for more because we have still not arrived at where thedream took us to. In the immediate past year it has been of commitment and success. Wethank God for His faithfulness.HARMONIZATION OF HOME CELL: The Home cells have metamorphosed firstly fromParish level or local Church attachment into Archdeaconry. However, that has almost finallybeen changed into the full fledged Area and Zonal management where their coordinators aremeant to oversee the activities. This is to bring out the Diocesan concept of the Home cellinstead of the church attachment that had initially stiffened some activities. Among the AreaCoordinators are Clergy men while some of the Zonal Coordinators are lay men and womenARCHDEACONRY VISITATION: The Team of the Diocesan Coordinators paid a scheduledvisit to the new Archdeaconry – Agbon Sout on the 21st February, 2015 at St Luke's Church,Kokori attended by three Clergy, Two Catechists and Eight lay members- a total of 13 inattendance.RETRETS/MEETINGS1. DIOCESAN DISCIPLESHIP HOME CELL LEADER'S QUARTERLY MEETING: The meeting held on the 7th June 2014 at St. Peter's Church Ekpan with the view of knowing how far they have been fairing as well as their challenges. It was well attended by Coordinators- Area and Zonal, Shepherds/Interns. About 113 of the leaders where in attendance.2. ORIENTATION OF SHEPHERDS ONLY: Sequel to the low performance of the various Home Cells, it became necessary to organise a retreat for the leaders again, but this time in two segments. The reason was to find out what really were the challenges and to 1 3 6“THE MARKS OF JESUS: THE CHRISTIAN'S INNER QUALITIES AND CHARACTERISTICS.” SAT. 3RD – WED. 6TH MAY, 2014.

It was held on the 24th January, 2015 at theCathedral of St Andrew where 91 Shepherds/Interns were in attendance and thefollowing were some of their suggestions, comments and recommendations;·Some Area and Zonal Coordinators don't visit their Home Cells·Most Clergy don't attend Home Cell·Welfare for members,·The Diocese should put in place a structure that will make Anglicans participate in Home Cell fellowship.3. ORIENTATION OF COORDINATORS/CLERGY ONLY: This was scheduled for 7th February 2015 at Cathedral of St. Andrew where 119 Coordinators and Clergy were in attendance. His lordship was the chairman at the retreat. Thereafter; a communiqué was issued amongst which are the following;·Every member should be conscious of the major aim and objective of Home Cell which is Soul winning and making of disciples.·In case of transfer of any Clergy, there should be a proper hand-over where Home Cell activities are also handed-over to the incoming Clergy to avoid lapses.·Members to develop the Christian virtue of giving sacrificially to the needy among them.·No member shall qualify to stand any election in the Church (vote and be voted for) unless he/she shows a proof of Home Cell membership. This is also applicable to those coming for Churching of Women, baptism, confirmation, wedding, sub-committee appointments, admission into Women Guild and Mothers' Union e.t.c.4. REV. C.E. IDE, JP.·MODE OF DISTRIBUTION OF MANUALS: In 2014 the Manual writing committee distributed the manuals to members through the various Archdeaconries and Chapels. However, this year 2015 it became obvious that for the manuals to get to the hands of the people it was designed that manuals be distributed through the various Churches to ease the access to the grass-root members who may not have been reached through the other mode used initially. This has proved successful for about 108 Churches were reached.5. It was a night of Divine Settlement and Spiritual Renewal. It wasindeed a blessing to the house of Clergy and the Diocese at large.PRE-SYNOD ALLNIGHT PROGRAMME:Pre-Synod Allnight Programme was organised to promote the successful execution of theSynod 2015. It was held at St. Matthew's Church, Okpara Waterside. It was well attended bythe Synod delegates and some members of the hosting church. It was a fruitful vigil as the on-going Synod is a testimony to that fact.PROVINCIAL & NATIONAL PRAYER INVOLVEMENTSThe Diocesan Prayer Band had been strongly involved in Provincial & National PrayerConvocations so as to further enrich and develop the Prayer Band members and hence, provoke their commitment at the Diocesan, Archdeaconry and Parish or Chapel levels. The 2014 Provincial Prayer Convocation was held from Thursday 2nd – Saturday 4th Octoberat Freedom Convention City/Retreat Centre, Osi-Aiyegunle, Akoko-Edo Diocese, Igarra. Thetheme was “Intercession in the healing of the Nations” 2Chron. 7:14, Ezek. 47:1-12. It wasalso a very challenging programme, geared towards equipping the intercessors for effectiveintercession for the healing of the nations. Plenary Sections, Prophetic Prayer Walk toStrategic Places, Workshops, etc were among some of the activities observed. The National Prayer Convocation 2014 was held at Christian Events Resource Centre,Behind CMS Grammar School, Bariga, Lagos from August 26 – August 30, 2014. REPORTS TO THE THIRD SESSION OF THE ELEVENTH SYNOD.was “Intercessions in the Healing of the Nations” (2 Chron. 7:14, Ezek. 47:1-12). It was wellattended by the Diocesan Prayer Band members, under the sponsorship of the Parishes andChapels. It was indeed very enriching, reviving and fulfilling.MANIFEST 2015The Diocesan Prayer Band was actively involved in the programme, operating regularprayers before, during and after the programme. The practice of chain prayers was alsoapplied to call for heavenly visitation and complete success of the programme. The PrayerBand had to visit the MANIFEST CITY a week to the commencement of the programme for“on the spot” prayers. Thank God the programme was a great success.SPIRITUAL ATTENTION - St. Matthew's Church, Ugbommro: Sequel to an urgent call forprayers and an assignment given by the lord bishop, St. Matthew Church Ugbomro wasvisited by the Diocesan Prayer Band, who gave spiritual attention to some challenging issueshindering the development of the church. The allnight for the month of May has been fixed tohold there.MAJOR CHALLENGESThere are a few challenges beclouding the Diocesan Prayer Band which are threateningincreasing commitments of members. They are as stated below:(1) Absence of Viable Prayer Band Unit: Some Parishes/Chapels do not have viable Prayer Band and as such are not represented at Diocesan Prayer Band meetings. In some cases when such Parishes/Chapels play host to the Diocesan Prayer Band, Prayer Band members and other members are not even available to participate in the programme.(2) Lack of Sponsorship/Poor Sponsorship: Some Parishes/Chapels Prayer Band members had suffered very serious financial problems in their bid to attend prayer programmes at Diocesan, Provincial and National levels as some Parishes/Chapels had maintained that there is no money. This has made some to sponsor themselves and at other times supported or sponsored by other persons. This can be very discouraging to the commitment of members.(3) Defective Information Dissemination: Defective information dissemination is a problem that has adversely affected the attendance of intercessors to Diocesan, Provincial and National prayer programmes. Even when information are sent to Parishes/Chapels, intercessors still complain of not getting information at all or as at when due. Sometimes, there is no announcement or reflection in the bulletins. This has made representatives from some parishes and chapels to be absent from prayer programmes continuously. This problem is further compounded by the fact that some Parishes/Chapels do not have Prayer Band Leaders and Assistants to coordinate prayer activities in the Parish/Chapel level.(4) Lack of Parish Members Involvement at Allnight: Some of the Parishes that the Diocesan Prayer Band goes to for the Statutory all night do not usually have their 1 4 8“THE MARKS OF JESUS: THE CHRISTIAN'S INNER QUALITIES AND CHARACTERISTICS.” SAT. 3RD – WED. 6TH MAY, 2014.

REPORTS TO THE THIRD SESSION OF THE ELEVENTH SYNOD. church members in attendance, though information was sent out. Parish members will be powerfully sensitized when they are encouraged and motivated to attend such allnights.(5) Conflicting Programmes: The Diocesan Prayer Band has a statutory day for monthly Alnight prayer programme. This is the third Friday of every month. But, it has been observed severally that some Parishes and Archdeaconries fix allnight programmes on that same Friday, hence, making it difficult for the prayer band members of those Parishes and Archdeaconries to attend the Diocesan Prayer Band Allnight. In some other cases, the Diocesan Prayer Band have had to change the Allnight venue from the Parish it is expected to hold to another. This challenge is gradually growing in a geometric progression and needs to be addressed quickly.(6) The Challenge of Transferable Coordinators: There are some Parishes and Archdeaconries whose Prayer Coordinators or Leaders are Clergymen. If there is disposition of Clergy, the activities of prayer will always be affected. But, if the Coordinators or Leaders are made to be Lay persons and the Clergymen as Chaplains it will enhance the process of intercession a lot in the Parishes and Archdeaconries.APPRECIATION& APPEAL:His lordship, the Rt. Rev. C.E. Ide, JP is highly appreciated for his unshakeable support for theDiocesan Prayer Band. The Diocesan Prayer Band appreciates sincerely the very few clergy who attend the allnightregularly. A passionate appeal is made to the house of the clergy to encourage theintercessors with their presence. The Diocesan Prayer Band is also grateful to those Vicars/Chaplains of Parishes/Chapelswho supported the activities of the Prayer Band through the release of their buses for thetransportation of members to locations outside Warri and Effurunfor all-night programmes.
