REPORT OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE SECOND SESSION OF THE ELEVENTH SYNOD · SYNOD notes that the blood of Jesus purifies our consciences from dead works enabling us to serve the living God acceptably which relates to our duty to God and our neighbours such that in weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, difficulties trials etc, we remain faithful with all humility, fearlessly declaring the mystery of the gospel. · SYNOD notes that there are healthy, positive or reverential fear which emanates from the wonderful acts of God; and the unhealthy or negative fears which emanates from sin, insecurity, various circumstances and situations which has killed many people today, more than diseases themselves. · SYNOD notes that Sin breeds weakness and weakness is associated with fear, but as believer's in Christ we are delivered from sin and given strength, unequalled and incomparable great power when compared with that of our enemy the devil “…because He that is in us, is greater than he that is in the world” 1 John 4:4b; not primarily for defence against our enemies but to embolden us to serve the Lord without fear. · SYNOD believes that fearless service is serving the Lord without being afraid of our enemies through faith or absolute trust in God with our eyes fixed on Jesus the author and finisher of our faith, moving from indwelling to empowerment through infilling of the Holy Spirit, with conscientious, consistent, effective and fervent prayers and allowing the word of God to dwell in us richly through systematic study and meditation. · SYNOD notes that the theme has it's nature encompassed in two inseparable elements of Holiness and Righteousness which are God given and cannot be feigned. Until we are in the right standing before God (righteousness) we cannot be set apart for God (Holiness) with the attendant time frame or period which span all the days of our lives. SYNOD therefore calls on all who are delivered to: · Serve the Lord acceptably. · Serve the Lord without fear · Serve the Lord in holiness and righteousness all the days of our lives. · Escape the grave consequences of serving in sin by shunning all forms of ungodlinesstheme: Serving the Lord without Fear – Luke 1:74 SAT. 3RD – WED. 7TH MAY, 2014. 1 0 4 Page
